Has anyone had luck building a gingerbread house? I've tried but never succeeded! What is the secret?
-
I have but it came out of several boxes.
-
I have tried on a few occasions but I can't say they ever really turned out that great. It is very hard if you don't have the right ingredients
-
NO I NEVER BUILT A GINGEbread house. it must be fun
-
Many times, the secret is the right frosting. It has to be thick enough with plenty of cling.
-
Nope, but my sister got this funny ninja ginger bread house set, so I'm excited to help build it.
-
It's funny we tried to build one last Christmas it didn't get finished because every body trying to build it was eating it at the same time it was fun though.
-
I have tried several times, but it never comes out that great, lol...I don't take it too seriously though, and just try to enjoy the experience.

I have tried and failed so many times.

My daughter does one ever year, the icing is the secret to making it hold up.

Never tried to build a gingerbread house. It might be fun to try as long as i dont have to bake anything and someone else bakes it.
-
years ago, my sister bought a gingerbread house building kit.
the young kids, as well as the adults, enjoyed the team project.
-
No, I have never built one, but have seen some amazing looking ones, hope yours turns out well if you try.
-
No, I never built a gingerbread house before. They look like a lot of fun, but frustrating to build at the same time...I'll probably end up eating the cookies and candy without completing the house. I can just picture myself getting mad and inevitably scrapping the entire project all because a cookie cracked. LOL...

This couldn't have been timed better. My daughter and I just went to a gingerbread house party last week. I had never made one before. It was very challenging and ours kept falling apart. Apparently, the key is to use a TON of frosting.
-
I used to make them with preschoolers using milk cartons and graham crackers The frosting does need to be thick and you have to give it time to harden.
My friend has had some success with a gingerbeard kit.
I haven't tried them tough
when I was little my auant always sent us a gingerbeard house for Christmas. it was always fun to eat it. :santa:

I helped our daughter and granddaughters build a gingerbread house from a kit this year.
It turned out ok.....not perfect and picture worthy of a magazine, but it was fun!

Buy the kit. :) They make easy gingerbread house kits now which are pretty simple to put together.
-
I built one back in elementary school. It was okay, nothing special. I should try making one this year.
-
Yes we built a gingerbread house - it didn't look very professional but we had a good time doing it.

the secret is keep it simple and buy additional edable frosting glue.
