Title: Iowa Caucuses
Post by: ktheodos on February 02, 2016, 01:20:04 am
Wow...what an interesting result....shows how interesting the race will be ... and not surprisingly, two candidates (one R and one D) have dropped their campaigns...

Let's put this in prospective - it's ONLY a caucus so it really doesn't mean too much - just that people living in  that state favor a particular candidate FOR NOW!  Doesn't mean they won't change their minds between now and November!

It is still so early to tell what is going to happen. But I agree with JediJohnnie ABC. Never thought of that but agree. It is really going to heated the closer we are to the primaries. Bernie Sanders scares the heck out of me with all of his free stuff. Who does think is going to pay for it. Yep we are. I am still not sure whom I am going to vote for but it will not be a democrat.

I feel like I'm leaning on both republican and democrats. I like Marco Rubio for Republicans, and I'm still shaky for Democrats. Just glad that Trump didn't win last night. Actually might show that he's not as good as he thought he was.

It's amazing that Trump deliberately insulted the people of Iowa and he still came in second. America sure is an odd place.

I actually don't think Trump was too surprised as this was a caucus where people attending will first go back and forth talking about the candidates before the actual voting begins.... In caucus states, it is more important to have a strong grass-roots campaign where the candidate's story is well told. When it comes to the primary states, The approach is much different. People go to the primary and just votes without any discussion with others in your party. As such, having more advertising and name recognition becomes more important. Thus Cruz was looked at by many pundits as having an advantage in Iowa whereas Trump will do much better in New Hampshire, the first primary state.
