Title: When you visit a small touristy town???
Post by: sak4kat on February 17, 2016, 07:05:38 am
What are some of the things you like to do when visiting small touristy towns?  I'm thinking of one that is local to me called Ottawa, Illinois.  What kind of foods do you like to eat.  Where do you stay?  For how long?  Considering planting a business there someday and would like some input from ya'll.

Hilo, Hawaii is my favorite small, touristy town to visit!  I absolutely love it there.  The scenery is breathe taking and the locals are so friendly!  I'm heading back there on June 8th and can't wait!  I would love to live there permanently one day.

In MN, we have many of these towns as it seems like every one of our 10,000 lakes become tourist destinations ;) I actually like going to the businesses that are more dedicated to those tourists as long as they aren't cheap tourist traps. I'd stay at a local B&B or lodge, and go out to eat at small restaurants esp. if they have a good reputation for making food that I normally cannot get at home, but I'll skip by the T-shirt and gift shops as those don't usually add anything to the vacation experience.
