Wow there's so many information out there, and always changing. Do you feel you are eating right? You can be skinny and not eating good too. Proportion is one key I think, Have a gr8 day :present:

I know I'm not eating right. I eat whatever I want whenever I want. Fortunately, the Lord has given me a metabolism that doesn't allow the extra ice cream or snickers bar to hang around the waist area.
-
I could be eating better but for the most part I try to make healthier choices. I guess it's a good thing I actually like water, fruits and vegetables more than juice, rice and a lot of meat

To me, eating "right" would be eating organic, non-GMO foods.
There's too many pesticides/toxic chemicals left behind on what is supposed to be healthy fruits & vegetables. GMO foods aren't healthy for animals or humans.

Since I'm now a type 2 diabetic, I pretty well kept my sugars in line without following a strict diet until my last surgery. Now I can't get them lower than 174, but more often, they are around 200. So, I decided to try the Atkins diet since it's low in carbs. The only problem I'll have with it is the snack times. I barely eat breakfast, let alone 2 snacks a day. I need to lose at least 25 lb. anyway.
My problem is I absolutely love the "3 P's (pasta, pizza, and potatoes). To give them up will really kill me. But I refuse to give up my chocolate ice cream at night. It's the only thing that puts me to sleep. Otherwise, I'm awake all night. :(
I went to the produce store today and got asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, mixed greens, and Romaine. (good thing I also love veggies). i only spent $12, too. So I'll having steak salad, taco salad, roasted broccoli and cauliflower with some kind of meat, etc.

I am in a similar boat to sfreeman. My father and myself were both diagnosed with prediabetes last summer and had to meet with a nutritionist to discuss our diets. It was difficult enough for me to find out that my diet for the past (at the time) 18 years would have to be radically changed if I wanted to avoid a Type 2 diagnosis, I can only imagine how my dad felt!
Needless to say, I haven't been doing very well...my diet is almost entirely carbs, especially pasta and bread! I am even supposed to heed to a restriction on how much milk I drink a day, but milk is 99% of what I drink!
I am a bad example. :-[

Years ago I started limiting saturated fat in my diet. Since that time I have learned so much more about nutrition, and healthy alternatives. My husband was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and we have drastically changed our diets. It's an adventure to find new substitutes for old foods that we love. If you cook sliced radishes in a little butter, they make a great substitute for potatoes. I couldn't believe how good they tasted, and I never even thought about cooking radishes before. You can also make an incredibly good faux potato salad using cauliflower. I'm not doing as well with finding alternative desserts. I don't like using sugar substitutes, but monk fruit seem to be a good choice. You can make a pretty tasty bread/pancake using coconut flour and egg as the main ingredients. Experimenting is fun!

lol nope I know Im not eating right :(

I know when I'm not eating right. I use to eat a lot of carbs and eat a lot of sugar on daily basis. My weight reflected this lifestyle. :(
I've changed the way that I eat over the last few months. I've cut down on my carbs and sugar intake A LOT! I'm eating more vegetables as well.
You can only deceive yourself for so long. Your mirror and your scale are the reality checks that you need to tell you if you're eating right. :o

Probably need to cut back on red meat... Not worried about gaining weight just high cholesterol foods
-
I know I don't eat right, but I'm trying to these days!
-
I think I am......Well I think lol.
-
Oh I totally know I don't eat right. I don't eat vegetables every day, don't eat fruits every day and the amount I am suppost to eat no way I get them.
-
I usually can tell if I am eating right by having blood work done every time I go to the internist for a checkup every 6 months or so. The results usually tell you if you have too much or too little of minerals and vitamins in your blood and you can adjust your eating accordingly.

i eat right about 90 percent of the time..i do slip up from time to time

Mixture of good and not so good. My handicaps cause me difficulty in cooking so we eat out a lot but on the other hand I buy and eat quite a bit of salad and I eat fruit every day. I have lost some weight recently despite being older.
-
Lately Im trying to eat more protein and less carbs. But, everything in moderation.
-
Yes, there is so much to it. I think if I juice once/day, I'm doing so much better!!!
-
:) Yes, I do. I had my Gall Bladder taken out a year ago and if I eat something that is greasy or fried, I can feel the discomfort within 15 minutes. :)

Actually eating right is now a misnomer. At one time eggs were bad for you-now eggs are good for you. wheat bread was good for you, now it's bad for you. You must decide what is good for you or not. People are making a lot of money by saying what once was good for you, now it's not. These so called Doctors are raking in the big bucks because people are rushing out to buy said product. Ripping people off are the operative words.

To me eating right means eating healthy and feeling great after you've eaten. Filling up on super foods and veggies instead of junk food. Portion control is always must. But I don't stick to any strict diets. I eat what I want when I want. Thankfully I'm not a huge junk foodie so eating what I want when I want typically includes fruits or veggies of some sort.

i still eat what my mom gives me so Im sure its healthy its just the faact that when im out on my own what will happen
-
If I feel like I'm making good choices most of the time, then I'm happy with what I'm doing

We don't eat right, but I am constantly on cancer sites since my brother was diagnosed, even though he won't listen to a thin I say, my husband and I are very interested in what the sites say about healthy eating and alternative medicines, which is just all about healthy eating. It is amazing how you can avoid so many illnesses just by eating properly. Including cancer.

I am pretty sure that I don't eat the way that I should. Some days I don't eat any vegetables and I know I don't get enough fruit.
-
my mom cooks for me still, so i know im eating right
-
I know I am not eating right -- I have been so stressed lately that I just don't care !!
-
I know I am eating right in terms of eating healthy foods like lots of fruits and veggies. But I eat way too much of what I eat and that is my downfall. It would be great to weight about 30 pounds less.
-
Not Really
-
I don't think I'm eating right because my energy level wouldn't be so out of balance if I was, but it could definitely be worse. I do, however, drink water and Green Tea.
-
Sadly I know that i'm not eating right. I work 2 jobs, so that takes away from me cooking at home, I have been turning to fast food restaurants because of the convience. Hopefully I will be getting my bills down so that I can work 1 job and have my evenings free so that I can cook and exercise and eat healthy.

cheese and fish and then everything else after. need vit d and calcium, amino acids. Also add in multi-vitamins to get what you missing.
-
I try to, but sometimes it gets so confusing that you can never really tell. I try to stay away from sugary things, things with a lot of fat content but every now and then I break down and cheat.

Proportions are very important.
