I guess someone did a study (can you believe they had to spend time and/or money on this), but anyway, they figured out that dog owners are happier than cat owners...supposedly. The overall conclusion was that dog owners are generally more satisfied with life.
So...cat and dog owners, what do you think? Anyone owned a cat and a dog one after the other and can comment on their satisfaction? Hm-m-m-m! Deep stuff!

Hello to everyone out there in Fusion Cash World:
I don't necessarily think that dog owners are happier people than cat owners!
Research has shown that any type of pet that one decides to buy or have whether it is a dog or a cat or a even a bird can make one happy.
It makes one happy because it gives the one who bought the pet someone to love and to take care of for one thing. And, in some cases can also serve as a companion.!
Betty White who is deemed as America's sweetheart and is known for her acting on the "Golden girls" is a perfect example of this .... that is of having a pet for a companion!
And, furthermore, one tv program that interviewed her said that she said that she is happiest when she is around her pets and not necessarily people!
I, myself, love cats, and for me, I am happiest when I can interact with them by meowing to them and feeding them and
if I am able to even "petting them."
In Conclusion research has shown that all people who have pets regardless of what kind they buy whether a dog, or a cat, or even a bird are happier people, for all the reasons I stated!

Most of these so-called studies are hogwash...I know a couple of dog owners who are miserable...This is really about introverts Vs extroverts. I think that some introverted people tend to prefer cats because they are quit and reserved, like their owners and extroverted people prefer dogs because they are energetic and outgoing, like their owners. And since most people have a misunderstanding of introverts, they think that we are unhappy. Which isn't the truth....
Now...What about people who own both dogs and cats????
-
I own both dogs and cats now. I love them equally and they both make me happy, I don't think owning a pet, whether it's a dog, cat, bird, etc, makes you happy or not. I think it's up to the person if they are happy or not.

I've owned dogs and now a cat.Think they both bring something to your life happy with both.you can talk baby talk all you want and be silly so that makes me happy.
-
I don't think I really believe that study but that's just me. I have dogs. I would have a cat but I think the dogs might kill it so I don't get one.
-
I think it's probably true that dog and cat parents are happier people than non pet parents. Its impossible to look into those cute furry faces and not feel good and be happy!
-
Surveys are made to get the results they want.

I had a cat and I was happy. I have a parrot now and I'm happy. When I didn't have any pet, I was still happy. So I don't know what to tell you.
-
whoever did this study probably had nothing better to do it is not the type of animal you have it is the person any animal would make you happy
-
Totally a Dog owner and a small dog.

I have had cats most of my life. My last one died the other years. I had a dog when I was little. I like cats better than dogs but I really don't want anymore pets.

I think the point that many of the responses to this question show is that there is MUCH MORE to life and what contributes to happiness than just having a particular kind of pet. There are just too many other factors that go into whether a person is happy or not. I had both cats and dogs as a child; as an adult, I've only had cats. Sometimes I am happy and sometime I am unhappy.
Maybe there is something that makes happier people choose dogs more often than cats as pets? But it is too much of an over generalization to me to say that dog owners are happier than cat owners.

Cats are good for outside. Dogs work better inside at my house.
