Although these aren't true homonyms, I ran into this word confusion the other day when my GF was working on the funeral services for her father that died last week.
Intern: A student learning through on-the-job experience often with little or no pay other than the educational experience.
Inter: To bury a coffin, urn, etc.
The funeral home intern helped the cemetery to inter the urn.
And that just reminded me of another: urn / earn
