Title: Small Towns...
Post by: patriciaeclevenger on May 24, 2016, 06:33:27 am
I just read the most fascinating article about the smallest towns. There is a small town, Gross, Neb., where only two people live there. Mike and Mary Finnegan are the sole residents and they run a bar. There is also a nearby town, Monowi, where Elsie Eiler is the only resident.

Would you like to live in a town of 2 or 1?

I do love small towns . I have lived in one most of my life. but being the only resident or 1 of 2 is a little to small for me. :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

Wow, I have never heard of such a town. They must own the entire town. So does that means they are the mayor, sheriff, and all of the above? That is so unusual to just have a town with only couple people.

I'm surprised that they were able to create a "town" with so few residents... I thought that in order to be a town, there had to be a post office. I remember when I was a Boy Scout, we were backpacking in the Rockies and there was a town in the middle of nowhere with only 2 residents; they owned the trading post that also doubled as the post office, and so were able to create a legitimate town. Maybe that bar is similar in that it also seconds as the local post office...

I have lived in small towns the majority of my life, but to be the only residents in the town would not be okay with me.

I have lived in some very small towns, but not quite that small.  At least we had a post office, even if my aunt ran it.  But there was a lot of ranchers and farmers around.  The other town was small also. Only 23 of us graduated most of us lived out of the town limits. Now it is even a whole lot smaller. It is one of the largest counties and the least populated. and almost are ranchers and farmers still. But i loved it.

I like living in a small town where everybody knows everybody by their first name and you always know someone who you can call upon to help you with something.. a leaky tap, a broken lawn mower, some painting. Having said that, my idea of a small town is a few thousand people, not just one or two! It needs to be big enough to have a petrol station, a cinema, a swimming pool and a police station. Of course there needs to be one or two schools and a park.

I've heard of towns like that before. I feel like living in a small town would suit me better. Maybe not only 2 people big but I can see the appeal.
