Title: Dining room table
Post by: melodylogan45 on June 04, 2016, 07:25:38 am
Is your dining room table only used to eat on only or do you keep papers and other items on your table all the time. I live in an apartment, so I have papers and medication on the table too.

Its seems like on only use the dining room table for dining is when I have guests. Normally it holds a table runner, a few decorative items, and flowers from the garden...and books that go back to the library.

We use it for eating sometimes together and sometime we may use it for some work, but pick up right after. I never leave anything on my table.

We eat on it.  The only thing on the table is a crystal bowl in the middle and a candle on either side.

We have a formal dining room, it's only used for the occasional dinner, or family game playing. Nothing is on it, but a center decoration.

We mostly all eat in the kitchen, there is a table & chair set in there & a bunch of windows to look out of while one eats, nothing is left on the table though, but it is used frequently for homework, bill paying, etc...  but it is always cleaned up after.

Unfortunately, my dining room has been severely neglected since I bought it five years ago. My family and I often eat in the living room (on a sofa, couch, etc.) while the dining room continues to be bare (I don't even have anything on it, other than the placemats!).

I use mine for working n crafts, unless we have some one in for dinner. There is just the 2 of us and hubby would rather eat in front of the  TV so i figure why not . Why eat in  there by my self. Either way i still have to do the dishes and stuff. But  i don't take the food up anymore until after we eat, just so i don't  dirty up any more then i have too, Think he was a bachlor way too long.

It's the only place big enough to do my 1000 piece puzzles. So I do my puzzles there.

It's used for a gathering place.  We eat there and have papers on it.  I throw the mail on it  and then after a few days I go through it and throw out the junk mail.  Its only bare when I change the tablecloth and placemats.

I have my grandmother's old dining room table and her corner cupboard.  We only eat on it for Thanksgiving or other special occasions with guests.  In between time, I try to keep it unloaded, and use it for different projects.  Right now I have a portable "lay flat to dry" rack on it with a shirt I hand washed, and on the other side, I've laid out a jigsaw puzzle!

We use it only for buffets when dining. The rest of the time, we use it for office work: Computers, paperwork, sewing, knitting and any other arts and crafts.

I have a dinning room table, from my grandma. Right now my table is clear and clean. It is a very sturdy table. I don't always eat at my dinning room table. I need dinning table chairs.

Please I have medication, papers all kind of stuff on mine.  LOL can't keep it straight.  If I didn't keep meds on it I forget to take them.  But we eat on it too.  The only time we eat elsewhere is in the den we eat snacks sometimes while watching a movie or tv.

My dining room table is always covered with stuff that has to be cleared off if I want to serve dinner to guests. It could be covered with just about anything from books to boxes of stuff recently delivered to our porch, to items bought at stores but not properly put away yet, etc.

pretty much the only time we use our dining room table for eating is holidays.  my husband and son work such opposite hours (son working two jobs) ..that it's hard to get everyone at home to eat at the same time.  I try to keep the table cleared off though. Usually only a loaf of bread, salt and pepper shakers and a napkin holder are all that are on it.

Only use my dining table to eat at twice a year.  Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The rest of the year it has a table runner, decor plate with a wire mesh bowl the holds fresh fruit.

That's a good question. I would dearly love to have a table which would only be used for eating, but in reality I have kids homework, pots and pans that don't fit into any cupboard, my sewing machine and odd items from arts and crafts from various members of the family and anything else we can't find a home for. If you've lost a laptop charger, it will be on the kitchen table, if you can't find a recipe, it'll be on the kitchen table, if you're looking for a measuring tape to start working on that project you've been putting off for the last few months, it's right there under the recipes!
