I smoked when I was a teenager to keep up with my friends (peer pressure). I continued smoking, but quit in 1999. When I smoked a pack cost $2.00 now I believe they are up to $6.00.

No, I've never smoked. My husband chewed tobacco for 20 years though. I thought he was never going to be able to quit, but when my husband asked my 7 year old son what he'd like for his 8th birthday, his response was "I'd like you to quit chewing tobacco". My husband quit by my son's 8th birthday. How admirable is that?

Yes I smoked on and off most of my life. I had quit and then when my husband passed in 2013 I thought it would make me feel better to smoke but it didn't - don't ever want to smoke again.
-
No, I have never smoked.

I've never smoked more than a puff or two off a cig in my life. Never saw the thrill in it..just made you have a bad taste in the mouth, makes clothes smell. Just not worth it.

Hi. And no I have never smoked a day in my life!
-
I smoked for probably 5-6 years, after graduating when I started university.. everyone around me was smoking and I got so tired of grasping for fresh air that I just started smoking too ;)
So cool to smoke while sipping wine.. or going out to clubs... then I met my husband and we both decided to quit together.... haven't been smoking in 9 years and I don't miss it AT ALL
-
I have never smoked but I do dip smokeless tobacco. There are a lot of similarities including crazy prices, addiction, and health consequences. I need to quit for all of those reasons.
-
No I have never smoked and I don't ever plan on it. I am a singer so it really doesn't appeal to me.
-
i did i started when i was 12 because everyone i hung around did it but i quit after i found out about my cancer best thing for me
-
I smoked for 25 years and I have just quit for good. 8)

I used to smoke for 15 years, I quit 10 years ago when I was 34 and found out I was pregnant with my 2nd child. Quit cold turkey and never looked back. I have not smoked since then and I will never go back to that filthy habit! Kudos to everyone who quit! :D
-
I smoked from the time I was in college until 32 years later but quit in 1999. My doctor got me to do it. She said I had too many risk factors for heart disease so should get rid of those I had control over, like smoking. This worked. I haven't had a cigarette since.

I have never smoked and didn't grow up around it. I can't stand the smell.
-
I actually tried to smoke when I was 18-19 years old. It was the late 60's and smoking was supposedly the "adult thing." to do. It looked so sophisticated and grown-up at the time. Well, I could never stand the taste or the smell. So after about 8-9 months of trying to become a smoker (isn't that a laugh now?), I gave it up after just being completely over it. My guardian angel was looking over my shoulder, that's for sure!!!!

No I have never smoked and try to stay away from people who do can't stand the smell or it being in my clothing.

i guess I'm the oldest smoker here. I started when I was 12 because my friends smoked. Cigarettes cost 25 cents a pack back then and I smoked Winston, Marlboro, then went to menthol Salem, then Newport, then fell in love with Paxton. They came in a plastic box. How neat! I smoked a whole pack in 2 weeks.
I had tried quitting 6 times before that but failed each time. Even got desperate enough to get hypnotized but that only lasted 5-1/2 hours. :D
Anyway, I smoked up until 2012 when I was hospitalized. Funny but being in the hospital, i had no cravings. Since I was stuck there for 3 weeks, I really was free of the nicotine habit. I didn't even have to get rid of any of the ashtrays or do anything they say to do to keep from smoking. It Just never bothered me after that.
Total years smoking? 50! Cost of cigarettes when I quit? I really don't know because I started to roll my own and it cost me $30 a month. Before quitting, I was up to 3 packs a day.

-

-
I have only smoked a grand total of once in my life and I hated it. My dad smoked on and off for years though and he's sadly paying the price: he was diagnosed with tongue cancer this year.
-
I used to smoke back in my college days and after I got marry and had kids, but after my first grand child was born and I had to keep her all the time I quit. She is 11 years old now so I have been smoke free since then.
-
I didn't have a reason for doing it after I was taught by my parents at a young age that it will not be good for your over all health. They were right. I am also sharing that knowledge with my boys and they seem to understand that what we do now will affect us greatly in our future both positive and negative consequences.

I smoked from 1993 till 2001. I don't know why anyone would want to smoke today considering how much it costs. ???

I started at 12 years old (1950) stealing Phillip Morris from my parents, but when I had to buy my own I bought Dominos or Wings for 9 cents a pack. They were up to 25 cents for Pall Mall when I quit July 4, 1964 (my Independence Day). Both my younger siblings died from the results of smoking, one at 62 from COPD and one at 58 from lung cancer, so at 78 next month I am glad I quit.

I smoked a black and mild here and there when I was 19 but it's not a habit- thankfully.
-
I've never been a smoker but I understand how some people could become addicted. My tendency is to be addicted to stimulants like caffeine, instead.
-
Nope; never smoked. Tried it a handful of times but just didn't get why people enjoyed it so much. YUCK.
-
Yes I smoke I have quite before and I plan to again ..

The closest I've ever smoked was my sister's vape pen. I tried it three different times and got sick, lol.

I used to smoke. I quit a number of years ago. Now if I'm around a smoker, I can't even breathe. Funny how things change.
