Title: Do you maintain your own Blog or Website?
Post by: sherryinutah on July 12, 2016, 04:32:15 pm
I love blogger and I have 4 blogs that I maintain on Blogger.  It's free sofware, so....why not?

I'm also reading a book about learning to use the Wordpress Software.  Fascinating stuff.  I enjoy reading non fiction books.

Do you own a blog or website that you maintain?

I'm not suggesting that anyone include links because I want to make sure we all follow the FusionCash forum rules.

I have a website...started it a few years ago in honor of PTC and survey sites.  Both myself and my husband are represented on it.  A blog is my next step for an "in home" bakery I'm planning for in the future.  With that eventually will also come a website.  In the meantime I'm trying to learn other avenues (Like share a sale) to utilize so when I unveil the bakery/farmers market concept I'm confident in unrolling.  Haha no pun intended.

I have four different blogs that I maintain to varying degrees of frequency. I use Wordpress for all of them. Not dropping any links, but I don't think it is a problem providing the titles and descriptions.

Get Paid! is a blog/site about various ways to earn cash online (including Fusion Cash!) and using a smartphone.

No Coincidences With God is a blog about those incidents that SEEM like coincidence, but are really God's way of putting certain people, events, or paths into my own life.

Words of Wisdom is a collection of my daughter's funny or misunderstood quotes as she grew up from a three year old forward.

Rusty Letters is my attempt at humorous/creative letter writing of actual letters I've written and mailed -- often including an inside joke which most people would not necessarily pick up on.

Each blog has its own rewarding aspects.

Just Do It!!! A blog or website can be run for less than $2 a month for hosting and domain name, which should easily be covered by the referrals and sales made from advertising your own agenda on it.

I have two blogs on WordPress and a few more on Blogger, plus dozens of my own websites to tell my story online. I only use Blogger to have a connection when I make comments on other blogger posts, so people find their way back to me.

In addition to advertising paying ventures for me, my pages also promote the system I use to promote online that pays me a monthly commission for each person under me. That's where the real money is.

They only take as much time as you want them to. I have lots of pages that earn me money and once they were set up, I just let them sit there for people to find. For example the one under my photo has had 85 visits and the only place I talk about it is in this forum. Think outside the box.

It's really pretty simple, post comments, articles, responses, forum posts or any other way you can get people to notice who you are and what you are about, then give them a link to something that will help THEM. I am really easy to follow around the Internet and you will see what I mean.

All that when you are not too busy running a popular traffic exchange, right?

I wanted to create my own blog or website, mostly for monetary reasons. But I doubt I have anything interesting to discuss that would attract a strong fan base. But it is nice to dream about it sometimes.

It is NOT simple.  We have had this discussion before.  Yes, you are easy to find on the internet.  Have you googled yourself lately?  The top hits are all about how you are a scam artist.  Just sayin'.  I have shared my link(s) in public places and asked friends to share.  Most do not.  They ignore my request.  Or if I send the link to people I know - most never look at it.   I joined something the other day and for every person I get to join I get a one time $5 and they get a bigger incentive just for joining.  I sent it to like 13 people and 1 joined.  : (

Part of the problem is everything is already being done.  I would love to make enough money to make a living on my own website.  It is not safe to be out in the world anymore. :(  I think dreaming is about all I can do.

That's a fantastic success ratio!!! Most people are happy with 1% return and you got 8%, what's wrong with that? Now instead of 13 people you need to invite 1300 and you should make $500 if the numbers hold up.

I would love to make a full time living from the Internet too, but even though I have done that for short periods of time, I am just as happy earning a few hundred extra to make life more fun each month. It's just so much easier if you get a steady flow of residual income, than finding it necessary to click every day for pennies and make nothing if you miss a day or two.

How can I invite 1300 people?  I do not know 1300 people.  How can I get strangers to sign up?  I can't get supposed friends or family to sign up and the actually participate.  That is the problem.  I have a couple of websites.  I have one that has I think 4 sites like this where you get paid from your referrals.  Like I said, I cannot get anyone to look at it.  I don't think people realize that when they say oh they looked at it that I can SEE if they did.  When it says ZERO visitors then obviously they did not hit my site.  I posted a link on facebook and asked if nothing else to hit the site so I can get a little rank or share this so people would see it.  Not one person looked at it nor did anyone share.  I do not have many friends on facebook so mostly it is close friends or family members.

I am not trying to be mean or negative or hateful to you.  I really ain't.  If I could make "a few hundred" a month I would be ecstatic.  I have asked many times and have yet to receive any workable advice on how to get your site noticed.  And just because it gets noticed doesn't mean people will sign up thru my links.  They usually go directly to the website themselves and sign up so I do not get credit.  : (

Yes. I have a blog that I had been updating every week, but a lack of motivation on my part (with personal events going on at the time) forced me to minimize the time I spent working on it. I moved it to another site, but it's rarely posted on, and I'm trying to look for help running it.

If you want people to seriously look at your site, you need to do it for THEIR benefit, not yours and don't be so DESPERATE or they will surely ignore you every time (as you noticed). For example, I have an About Me page on my website and in the right column are pictures of fun things I have been blessed to do because I have money I earned online. One is eating Hawaiian Shaved Ice in Hawaii,  a sunset shot from a condo balcony at the beach, shots from trips to Graceland and New Orleans, none of which would be as easy without extra money. It's common for people to see that and look further to find out how they can do it too. I don't pressure them, just leave little temptations where they can find them.

I KNOW I have responded to your comments with workable advice many times, but if you can't see it working it doesn't help you. That does not mean the advice is not valid, it just means your attitude is the problem. Whether you think it will work or not, you are probably right.

I have said it on here more times than I can count, find a problem people have and offer a solution to them for free. For example I know people have a hard time getting referrals if they never have before, so try something that is tested and proven to work and keep trying until you meet success, then build on that.

I am running an offer to give away a free report on a traffic exchange right now. It has been running for two weeks and had 25 people read the report with no new referrals yet, but I am not going to give up. It's free (except for some time to earn credits to have it shown), so I don't care how long it takes.

I also know from experience that even if they don't join, they will remember me the next time they see an offer from me and my odds increase. I don't jump from one next big deal to another, so each time they read a new offer it follows the same theme and they notice things like that. One offer supports the next until they figure out there must be something to them. That alone is worth the effort when you have the right attitude.

Does any of that make sense?

I do not come across as desperate on my site.  The site is basically "do you want to make money from home" and telling people how to do so.  I have links to about 4 sites.  This one included.  IF someone signs up thru my link of course I get credit.  And with this site if they sign up and actually participate and cash out every month I can make a measly $5 a month.  Which with several refs can add up.

I am not pressuring anyone.  I just have the site there.  You don't understand.  If you have a site or newsletter with thousands of people signed up then it is easy to post links and tons of people see it.

It doesn't matter how many times I "see it working".  Like I told you I have the site.  I have tried to get the link out there.  The only thing I can see really helping is if someone who has a lot of followers would post my link one time in a newsletter or on their site.  But most people would sign up for the sites themselves and put their own link on their page and make money for themselves.

I am not looking for sites like this to be a "real job".  Because it is not.  Even though people on here call this their job. lol.  From what I have seen most people on sites like these are drawing disability and THAT is their source of income. This is NOT a job no matter how much they claim it is and they "work online" lol.

I grasp what you are saying.  I am just saying it is not as easy as you make it seem.

I have a few blogs on Blogger, though they're now pretty much museum pieces as I haven't posted on them in YEARS.  I got bored with them and discouraged, as they didn't seem to be changing the world, lol.  Lately, though, I've been thinking about blogging again, but this time as a business.  This can be discouraging too, however.  On Pinterest there is a multitude of pins linking back to home business/work online/work from home type blogs.  At first, seeing them all was exciting and inspiring.  Then I started noticing that they were recycling the same ideas, advice, and opportunities.  So, apparently, what you can do to make money blogging is quite limited.  The trick, it seems, is to find a very unique variation on a theme.  That's probably why most people who try to make money blogging fail.

The trick is finding something to get people interested.  Like the crazy woman who has a blog showing pinterest fails.  I have never watched anything of hers but have seen pins saying how hilarious she is.  I have a feeling I would just think she was being stupid.  But if you can get out there and get people to share your posts and links and get a bunch of followers then you are set.  I have tried and even though I am discouraged I will continue to try but I do not have anything to say that everyone wants to hear. lol

Thanks for the advice, countrygirl.  I think you're spot on but, like you, I also "do not have anything to say that everyone wants to hear", lol. That must be why everything I've read about how to blog tell you to find a niche.  Apparently, the goal isn't to reach everyone.  But even in a niche you still have to find an audience.  Pinterest is supposed to be real good for that.  That's the main reason why I'm considering blogging again.  However, lately I've noticed that traffic to my boards has dropped off to almost nothing.  Are you experiencing that?  The internet is constantly changing.  You have to scramble to keep up, sigh.
