Now, i'm not meaning the LITERAL Term brushing while buck-naked but i am actually referring to people who brush their teeth with only water hence the term "Naked Brushing" i have recently done this because i ran out of toothpaste at home and studies have shown that doing this is actually as effective as you brushing WITH toothpaste to begin with as this makes entirely no difference if you brush With or Without it, so now i'm thinking of brushing naked because doing this could actually save me alot of money lol! and theres this guy i've read about who has been doing it for decades and he recently checked in with his dentist and passed his check-up! so his teeth were just fine! so what do you guys think? Naked? or Nah??? You Decide Lol!

Uh...only occasionally, like if I wake up and feel there's a lot of gunk or something...other than that, I use toothpaste because it is more beneficial
-
well health wise your teeth wont suffer anything bad but i do agree if you want your breath to smell good then toothpaste is surely the way to but also there are lots of alternatives out there if you dont wanna brush with toothpaste because of the flouride and the bad rap it has, i might just buy some breath gels, gum, mints, and maybe some organic breathstrips to substitute for this so im not putting any bad chemicals in my body lol. 8)

Your title on this topic did make me wonder if you were being literal!!
I normally use toothpaste when I brush my teeth. I have used baking soda...just dip a damp brush into a bit of baking soda.
I haven't heard a lot of controversy about toothpastes but it wouldn't surprise me that some of the ingredients are not healthy and/or beneficial.
-
That's really interesting. I only use toothpaste, I never tried only water. I think toothpaste also helps with good breath.
-
Hmmmnn very interesting first I heard of this so thanks for the share. I usually use baking soda if I am out of toothpaste but maybe I should just brush naked. I know I have heard that people in general use way too much toothpaste and only a little dot is needed.
-
I have never brushed my teeth without toothpaste, but I have gargled water only after I ate.
-
Never tried it. Still use toothpaste every time I brush. The only way I would do naked brushing is if I was somewhere and forgot my toothpaste. Even then, I'd be rushing to some store to buy toothpaste.
-
I believe it would be more beneficial not to use toothpaste than to use the well known type of toothpastes. ei: Crest, Colgate etc. Those have known carcinogens in them. I do use a certified toxic free toothpaste that is packed full of antioxidants.
-
If you can scrape off the stuff that cause teeth problems, than you won't have any dental problems. lol right!
-
I don't think I would like to do that. Even if it's okay to do, I don't want stinky breath lol.
-
Sometimes I use a toothbrush without toothpaste; however, I use the toothpaste to kill germs in my mouth. For me, it would be like washing my hands without soap.
-
No, I always use toothpaste. I don't feel CLEAN without using something.
-
I always use toothpaste
-
Only when I'm out of toothpaste or baking soda.
-
I always use toothpaste, but if I was out I would brush without it.
-
No, I use toothpaste. I always keep extra on hand so that I don't run out!
-
Not sure that I will be "brushing naked" anytime soon. Your teeth require fluoride to remain strong, which toothpaste is chock-full of. Unless I have fluorinated water, I doubt "brushing naked" will be a routine event in my life. :-P
-
no toothpaste for me and no caviyies,,,,,,,,
-
nah i keep my clothes on
-
no, just doesn't feel like my teeth are getting clean brushing "naked"...I have to have my aqua fresh toothpaste
-
i always brush my teeth with toothpaste. i don't ever how you say "naked brush". i wouldn't ever think to because it doesn't kill germs and doesn't get your teeth as clean as it would with the toothpaste.
-
Yes, sometimes I do this, then afterwards I use tooth paste....I usually "brush naked" in the morning when I am too tired to brush my teeth that night before going to bed.
-
That sounds really silly to me. Did you make up that term?
-
Just habit, but I use toothpaste. Sometimes water in a bind. I also like to use an electric toothbrush with or without toothpaste. /color]
-
I have done it to get something off my tooth as a temp fix but I still always brush with toothpaste at least twice daily.
-
I always use toothpaste.
-
I use a Water Pic, then brush with toothpaste and follow with mouthwash.
-
@CbSteffen No, i am not making this up!!! i recently read this in a mens health magazine and there are people who are LITERALLY doing this and have had no dental problems for decades i was skeptical of it at first but then took the time to do some actual research on it and its true, although i might still go with toothpaste or baking soda if i just so happen to run out of toothpaste i wont be so reluctant to run to the store right away anymore if i just so happen to run out as i could be saving extra money for myself in the long run. i could DEFINITELY See Myself doing it for a week or two if my usual resources run out and then go ahead and buy some more again i'm actually trying this out just to see how much money i save and i may make another Naked Brushing related topic like this in the near future lol.
-
Never have gone to that strange length... I've used toothpaste all my life. That Toms toothpaste is the worst though, made out of bark perhaps?!
-
i brush with water every other day. i also floss. after 7 year i went to the dentit because i thought i had chipped a tooth. it turned out to be just normal wear. but they went ahead with a full checkup i was cavity free

It isn't necessarily that fluoride is harmful per se, but rather as Debidoo mentioned, people tend to use too much toothpaste, and it is this excess of fluoride that may cause health issues, esp. in children. So I don't buy that toothpaste is adding bad chemicals to my body, hence I almost always use toothpaste. However there are times that I will use baking soda instead.
-
I had never heard of this. Thanks for sharing! I currently brush with toothpaste and floss my teeth.
-
Yeah, im literally intrigued by it all and the next time that i happen to run out of my toothpaste im going to wait for a couple of weeks before getting more only using water or baking soda (If Available) that way i save money and resources lol! :)
