we went threw a hurricane a few years ago but it was not a bad one luckily it just dropped one of our trees so i have been pretty lucky not to go threw more living in florida

the last hurricane to hit Mass was hurricane Bob 25 ears ago. we were very lucky no power for several days but no major damage. :rainbow: :rose: :peace: >:(

a few times with tornado's, a couple when i was young, we had to go into the root cellar and i don't don't which was worse going into the dark cellar or the tornado's . The cellar doors were held in place by steel poles and they were just heaving with the force of the tornado's. tore the roofs off of several house. Then as a teenager in Ohio we were at my aunt's house again in the cellar. It took the garage off the foundation right over the cellar, but left the cement floor intact. The garage was completely tore off the side of the house. Second time we were at my grandparents. but it did no damage just skidded by us. I do get very nervous when i watch the sky and it change to a pea green color and the hairs are standing up on my arms.

There have been 2 tornadoes to touch down right where I live.

When I was young, went visiting to the parent's family living in the midwestern state usa, The tornado emergency horn sounded and we waited it out in the basement/root cellar, I was scared.

I have never experienced either and don't really want to.

yup one hit my town years ago my house wasnt touched but the town was mostly destroyed

Although I haven't had a tornado directly hit my house, I have had several family members devastated by a tornado. Southern Illinois was hit by a huge tornado many years ago and it is something you never forget.

Never had a tornado hit in the city I was in but one hit near us when we were living in UT. I wasn't sure what was going on at the time but supposedly we had a warning. It hit in Salt Lake City. My parents were driving down there that night for a concert. It was Journey and...Night Rider? I think it was Night Rider. I guess the bands were filming the tornado from their hotel rooms. Now that I'm in CO I hear about them a lot more but one hasn't happened where I'm at.

I have been through several huricanes and bad wind storms, the last one being hurricane Sandy. We were very fortunate. Those a us on the east and gulf coasts are very used to hurricanes.

Tornadoes come through this area all the time. It is a terrifying experience.

Yes, I used to live in Miami and there was a small Hurricane in 1991 compared to the HUGE one that hit the east coast (NJ/NY) in 2012, Hurricane Sandy. That was the worst I ever seen and so scary!

Oh yea I live in Florida so I have been through some none that bad fortunately except the year we have like four of them. Everyone around us was on a different grid so they had electricity but us lol. But we lived through it. Could have been worse.

here the last hurricane we had was almost 4 years ago. hurricane sandy was bad i didn't lose much but i know people who lived on long island that lost everything even their house

I live in Florida and experienced several hurricanes and tornadoes. We had horrible tornadoes about a week apart here earlier in the year and a lot of the damage still hasn't been repaired. I haven't been through a real hurricane since 2004 with Ivan but a lot of things got closed down with the residuals of Katrina in 2005

I have never been through either and I am thankful for that.

After effects of hurricanes mostly...and apparently when I was really young I experienced a tornado close by, but I don't remember it...I have also been through a couple minor earthquakes

I have been through three hurricanes, but they were all minor, thank goodness.

Went through Hurricane Agnes in '72. Lots of evacuations in my town. We've been pretty lucky since then, only a couple floods but no major hurricanes.
Two years ago, there was a tornado warning. Since we never had tornados hit this state very often, especially living in the mountains, no one was worried. We had one hit 7 miles west of us but it was only an F1. Two years ago, the warning was a bit more serious. The winds really picked up and I thought for sure we would lose a tree with the force of the wind, but no destruction where I live, yet a mile away, it took out a mountain of trees and some house roofs in a small housing development. The trees are still lying on the mountain there as a reminder.

There have been a couple of hurricanes that have gone through where I live. Also a tornado went through a couple of years ago, but I was out of town.

When I was a kid, we had a tornado go through our farm. We lost a few smaller out buildings and many trees. We were lucky.....Mom sent me to the basement with my younger siblings. I was 12 or 13 years old. My brothers were in the barn starting to milk the cows. My Dad, Grandpa, and sister were in the field baling the straw I had spent the morning raking. Mom went to get my Dad, Grandpa and sister in a pickup. A shed almost hit the pickup. She brought Grandpa and my sister home. They couldn't find Dad......he walked home on his own awhile later. It was scary listening to glass breaking upstairs and hearing the wind. Daylight turned to Blackness in a moment. We were very fortunate to all be safe.

yes on both. a small tornado went through area several years ago and luckly we didn't have a lot of damage, Hurricane Sandy went through our area also,,,,, mostly wind damage and had no electric for 12 days. Thank goodness for generators :) that was the worst 12 days we ever went through

No, luckily I have not.

i have been in two.
One I was in my apt bldg, in bed. Long time ago, before good weather warnings.
Had the window open for a breeze, thought I heard a train where there were no tracks.
When I woke up the next day, the apt bldg next to us has their outdoor stairs blown away.
We were fortunate.

no but i would wonder why anyone would build another home or community in the same neighborhood

13 years ago my Granddaughter and her husband went to mrytel beach in SC. They went a day before we left and by the time we got to the city limits they evacuated because of a hurricane was coming in. So we just like a couple of miles before we got to the beach and had to turn around and head back home. Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)

I've seen several hurricanes. I worst one I seen was Andrew in the early 90's It destroyed hundreds of homes in Homestead Florida. It was awful, We were out of power for a couple of weeks No water we had to stand in line to get drinking water and food.

I've had my share of hurricanes, definitely not an easy experience. most scariest was hurricane Gilbert, during my childhood days.

We've been through a ton of Tropical Storms. The worst was TS Allison in 2001. Then we dealt with Hurricane Ike in 2008.

I do not live next to the shores, ocean, or areas prone to flooding, so I never got hit by a hurricane or tornado.. Maybe a little heavy rainfall and heavy snow in the northeast, but nothing that destroys or knocks out power

we went through hurricane hugo over 20 years ago, it almost destroyed our house, left us without power for almost 2 weeks. hopefully we'll never have to go through it again!

I live in Southern MS and have been through quite a few hurricanes. Some were not so bad and some were devastating. I was lucky enough to have a high and dry house however my daughter and son-in-law lost everything in one of the hurricanes. Our lives are what's most important and that's why we evacuate when told to.

I get up in Houston and fun we had lots of hurricanes. The streets would flood and you could get stranded...

I have never been in either. I have been in a couple of big earth quakes.

I drove by one the other day going to GA. All I hit was some rain for 2 hours and then the sun came out.

I live in "Tornado Alley" and up until this spring I've been through various watches and warnings, but have never been significantly close to one. Back in March an EF-2 tornado passed about two miles south of my apartment complex. It got dark and scary outside as the storm moved in, but thankfully it touched down in a more rural area and didn't damage too many buildings.

I haven't been inside a tornado, but there have been a few times that a tornado has come close. My parents lost a motor-boat from a strait-line wind that was so powerful, it was able to flip the boat and blow it out to the middle of the lake.

A close call in distance but it turned and went the other way. Thank goodness. I was at a dance recital for my niece. The dance instructors came on stage & announced all the dancers were safe in the basement...they directed parents & grandparents for 100 little girls out of an auditorium and down to the basement. Keep calm! Yeah right.

I lived on the island of Galveston Texas and went through a hurricane. I was packing up to move to Texarkana when we got the news. I luckily got out before it got too bad n the island but by the time I hit Houston the flooding was nearly impossible to drive in. Another hurricane later destroyed much of the seawall attractions, but thankfully Tillman Fertitta came through with his Pleasure Island plans and from what I hear is quite fun and back to normal. I'm hoping it stays that way. Eventually I'll make the trip back to revisit the sites that enjoyed while living there as well as all the re-built and new ones.

I've been through a few hurricanes in my lifetime and almost once a tornado but thank goodness it was in the distance and not coming in my direction at the time. I think tornadoes are much worse than hurricanes to be honest.

omg no.. in Europe it is not as frequent as here... that is kind of scary!!! WOW....

Nope sorry can't say I have would like to see a tornado.

oh gosh no...my oldest has..scared me to death..she was working and was gonna go outside and close the umbrellas at the table and a co worker stopped her..so glad because the tornado hit the table at the she would have been there...they renamed the area tornado alley where it is...from the restaurant she worked at to the the ones down the street...
