Yes it is the downside to companies that "promise" to not sell your information, but most likely do with some terms loophole... I thought it was funny today because I got a phone call from "-1" and I thought.... They've go so many robot calls now that they ran out of numbers and started using negative numbers... :P
-
Yes, they are terrible and it does not matter that you register your number on the National Do Not Call List, they; telemarketers have obviously found their way around that!! so the only thing we do is do not answer calls from unknown callers or numbers we do not recognize, but it is annyoing !!!
-
It is getting so i don't want to answer my phone, but i have too what with calls from my docter which they don't always use the same phone, And sometimes someone is trying to call me and have gotten the number from another friend. Some though i have tried to block and darned if they don't just get around it. I
try to be polite, but the re comes a time i have to be rude and it does not bother them.
-
LOL:) that is funny, the negative number.... terrible how we get brainwashed with everything... too many adds, too much spam, lots of waste of papers in the mailbox each week... and then also telemarketers, as if we didn't have enough already...
-
yep i just let my ansering machine pick up.........
-
Just tell them to back off and remove you from their network that's what I did and most of them stopped calling about dumb things.
-
what's really annoying is the fact that they call cell phones now. I didn't even think that was legal?
-
I install Truecaller app on my phone (and also my parent's phone) to know who it is calling. Through the app I'm able to see who is calling me and if I should pick up. Most people in the truecaller community flag some numbers as spam/scam.
Other then that you could sign up on the national Do Not Call list from the FCC website: https://www.fcc.gov/stop-unwanted-calls (https://www.fcc.gov/stop-unwanted-calls) . Although some telemarketers call, it will be A LOT less then they would normally call (well at least it helped my father)
-
Some companies "sell your personal information"...so these companies get back to you trying to sell you something you do not want or need.
-
I hate them also if I do not know the number I don't answer it.
-
They are very annoying I get several a day maybe they will slow down after the election
-
They drive me crazy everyday! I don't answer the phone if it is a number I don't know
-
You know... come to think of it, since we ditched the land line I don't have telemarketers calling me as much. In fact I can't remember the last time I answered a call and it was a marketer?
-
No sense hating them. They're workin' for a livin'. That being said, I pick the phone up and hang up immediately when I don't recognize the number because I don't want to mess with them. :bs:
The worse thing about election season is all the people who call you regarding who to vote for or whatever. I've been getting about 20 calls a day from them. I treat them just the same. If I don't recognize the number, I pick up the phone and hang up immediately.
I understand why people give up their landlines. :angry7:
:fish:
-
I agree with linderlizzie.....there is no sense in hating the telemarketers.
If I don't recognize the number calling me, I usually ignore it. If the caller really needs to talk to me, they leave a message.
-
I know it is their job,,,,,, but call once and leave it alone !!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 75 of them blocked on my land line and 20 on my cell phone. Now that is just crazy
-
This is a photo I took a little over a year ago when a call came in on our landline. I'd NEVER seen this come up on the caller ID before or since! I did not answer it, but I DID appreciate them giving me a heads up!

Telemarketers are like leeches, they will suck the blood out of you. I get so many calls from telemarketers, auto calls, and others looking for an apartment. I got fed up with the calls and put a block on them. My phone may still ring 1 time then it is blocked. After a while they give up and another round of calls call your number. This goes on everyday to include the weekends.
-
Telemarketers suck. Get a lot of calls and no one responses.
-
We got rid of our land line and only take calls on our cellular telephones. I do not answer any telephone calls from phone numbers that I do not recognize or are not on my contact list. I figure that if it is important the caller will leave a voice mail and I can check it within sixty seconds and call the caller back if it is important or an emergency. If my children have an emergency and are not calling from their phones they have been instructed to text me from whoever's phone they are using and I call back immediately. I work in a compliance/due diligence/fraud investigation capacity during the day and if I see a phone number that I do not recognize I am able to determine who was calling. If it is a telemarketer I submit their phone number and company name to three 'buyer beware' sites, an anonymous complaint to the better business bureau for their area, and put them on a fraud alert list.
-
We really do have the option of refusing to answer. I no longer deal with the negativity of solicitors. I choose not to answer my phone or door unless I want to.
That's been an empowering way for me to deal with a situation that I'd rather not deal with.

too much

I don't think they sell your information. It is not hard to get your name and phone number even if it is "unlisted".
-
I also hate the phone calls and will not answer any number that I don't recognize. When you tell them you are not interested and they keep on trying to sell you something makes me mad.
-
I am on the national do not call list and got rid of most
-

The DNC does not guard against scammers posing as telemarketers and spoofing numbers - spoofing is where they call from one number or computer, but mask it with a different number. You can block the number on your phone and/or report the spoofed or mask number to the FCC, but it doesn't stop the number they're originally calling from. They'll just generate a new "mask" and try again.
-
Yes, telemarketers are very annoying
-
Yes. telemarketers are a nuisance, but I try to remember its someone trying to make a living.
-
They sometimes can drive people crazy
-
Yes, they still keeps calling even many times i told them to take me out of the lists.
-
just hang up if they call
-
I get so many every day that I just screen my calls now grrrrrrrrrrr
-
I screen calls and if I don't recognize it I don't answer and let it go to voice mail, most times they don't leave a message. The politicians left messages.
-

What you do with the Do Not Call list is keep putting those callers on that list. I was getting hammered by one company over and over again, sometimes 3 times a day. I put them on the list at least 5 times. Evidently, they got the message.
Most telemarketers are honest. IF I answer the phone, I tell them I'm on the Do Not Call state AND federal lists and they never bother me again. If I don't answer the phone, my message let's them know I'm on the list and I'm broke and can't afford to buy the product they're selling anyway so don't waste your time. That worked, too. :) :) :)
-
I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number
-
Telemarketers are the worst thing ever. I especially hated getting calls during the election season.
-
I thought by adding my phone numbers to the Do Not Call registry would actually help, but it seems that can't stop telemarketers.
-
I'm on the no call list but still get calls on my house AND cell numbers. I hate that!
-
New phone so hooray small problems.
-
to many calls everday
-
I don't answer anymore. if I don't know the phone number they can leave a message and i will call them back
-
I purchased a marine/sport horn and keep it by the phone. When it's a live telemarketer I just push the button and the waling horn goes off right in their ears. Has deferred a few!
-
We get telemarketing calls at work all of the time. I'm sure I get them at home since the phone rings off the hook but I don't answer it. I got the phone as part of a bundle with my cable and have never given the number out to anyone but it sure rings all day long, every day! The cable company must have sold the number.
-
Lately my calls have been recordings so I can even tell them to back off.
-
They don't even listen anyway. It would be a kind of miserable job...unless you're super good at it. Then it's okay.
-
i got the same thing they have been using all zeros in my cell phone. if i don't know your number, then i'm not gonna answer the phone.
-
Normally with telemarketers I answer "Is this Pizza Hut?" and then tell them I want a large meatlovers pizza and breadsticks. They are the ones that hang up on me and not me hanging up on them...
-
I hate telemarketers and scam callers, if I don't recognize the number I don't answer the call. I figure if it's really important they will leave a voice message
-
I have a friend who only answers the phone saying Avon calling can I sell you some lipsticks she really had me laughing tell me the story
-
they only thing is when the numbers are disguised as other numbers so you answer them.
-

You should google that. I have seen them with a plus in front of them on my ID. Probably from another country.
-
I screen my landline calls now and almost every one is from a telemarketer. And my husband has even started getting them on his cell phone!
-
The only phone calls i get are from telemarketers! them bastards got slick and started texting me!
-
Yeah, they're annoying. >:(
-
My main problem with telemarketers is you tell them you are not interested and they keep talking and then all you can do is hang up on them. I even had one to tell me he was going to keep calling even though I asked him to take my number off his list.
-
They are so awful I no longer answer my phone. I just look at it and if it's a number I don't recognize I don't answer it. I have an answering machine on my landline home phone so I don't bother to pick it up. I let the machine get it. If they are legitamet they will leave a message. If they ain't, I get less stressed out.
-
Don't never answer they calls they are scams
-
Yes. Rachael from cardholder services is most annoying.
-
This buggery all comes from above. Trust me on that one. Everyone is out to get your dollar, and the urge just trickles down the food chain.
-
Just get on DO NOT CALL list.
-
Just get on DO NOT CALL list.
Which does NOTHING to stop telemarketers. I'm on the DNC List, get robocalls DAILY from telemarketers. I've also had my number sold locally (I can't narrow down what business sold my number), so I'm getting LOCAL "live person" spam calls... I have FUN with those! I act as if they're someone else, someone I know and just keep at it till they hang up! I once had a telemarketer so flustered they made a loud "raspberry" noise, cursed at me, and slammed their phone down! I nearly died laughing!
-
I hate those calls too, I get several per day. What's annoying is if you actually do pick up, it's just silent, not even a robot.
What annoys me more though is people being rude or messing with real live telemarketers. Yeah your phone ringing all day is annoying but they aren't crank calling you for fun. I can only assume someone is working a job that tedious because they have to survive, they are probably very tired and underpaid or even make their income per sale, so wasting their time makes YOU the jerk.
-
I pick up and hang up right away too so I don't have missed call on my id
-
Hate telemarketers i just let my answer machine take care it.
