How many people here decided to go back to school during our recession? I personally took the initiative to go back and get my BA in Interior Design. How many mothers decided to do the same or are thinking about it?

I'd be in college right now if I knew what I wanted to do. :-

me--starting back in January.
Wish me luck!

i graduated last december with an
associate's degree in interior design!
the hands-on stuff is really fun. i didn't
enjoy autocad too much, though...
i'm currently job hunting at the moment,
meanwhile re-doing my new apartment.
i suppose i can put that as "freelance projects"
on the resume, right? ;)

I wish all who decided to go back to school my kudos

I'm waiting until we're a little more financially stable. Hubby just got a new job seven months ago and I know a better job on my part would help but we just can't afford school right now.

I started last semester. My hubby lost his job in december 2008 and hasn't been able to get anything other than temp work. I decided to go back to make our lives better. I get financial aid so that really helps.

I was already in school when the recession started and I finished last year. I got my MBA and it has been worthless. I make less than I did a year ago before I graduated. I'm thinking about going back to school to get my doctorate just to see if that makes a difference, and also keep me from paying back my student loans when I cant afford them.

If it is affordable, I want to get a degree in theology or some sort of Christian counseling now.

Hubby went back after losing a highly paid engineering job and finding nothing new. Working on Master's in Education. We're hopeful there will be teaching jobds out there when he's done!

He should be able to at the very least teach at a community college with all those years of real world experience. Those can be great jobs!

I am still lucky enough to be working full-time but I am now taking part-time evening classes to enhance my skill-set and value to companies in my industry.

What we need is jobs. The more education we get the less they want to pay anyway. I have a degree and I don't even have a job related to my degree. I help out at my church as a part time secretary. Degree and all with a $7 an hr pay. - just because I agree to help the church - not donatng my work, but with low pay and extra free time. I enjoy my work at my church. I thank God :notworthy: my husband STILL makes good money for the bills and food.

I did I start in May! It took me forever to decide what I wanted to go for and I have finally figured it out.

I've been dying to go back to school ever since I graduated college in 2000... however, I've racked up some debt and am sort of recently divorced with a small child. So it's probably not in the cards right now.
