Title: How many siblings do you have?
Post by: Nancy5 on November 20, 2016, 07:53:35 am: I have 1 sister, who lives close to me, 1 step brother who lives 3 hours away, and 1 step brother who lives in Florida (I live in PA). I see the one 3 hour away about once every 2 months, and the Florida one once a year.

Post by: pkrahmer on November 20, 2016, 02:42:01 pm: I have 2 brothers and am the oldest. My brother and I live in the north east and same town as our mother. Our younger brother lives in Florida. All of us will be together for Thanksgiving!

We are one year, one month and two days apart from each other so growing up we were very close. Now I'm lucky if I even get a phone call for my birthday, but that's what happens as we get older. I also have a younger brother who lives about a half an hour away but only calls for emergency purposes. He's three years younger than I am. Being the middle child and only girl of the trio, I just assumed that's why I'm the odd one one out. I am glad my brothers make the effort to talk to each at least once a week. I'm certainly not going to beg them to talk to me.

She was married to a great guy and had a beautiful daughter but got hooked on prescription drugs after a heroin over dose. She slept most of the last fifteen years away while her husband worked, drove their daughter to school and fed/clothed the daughter. Her husband started divorce proceedings about eighteen months ago and my sister added alcohol to the occasion and became suicidal. I spent seven months trying to have her involuntarily committed but found that this program in Colorado is for appearance sake only-mainly a waste of tax payer's money, paying a staff of, I'm guessing, four to do nothing. Her final escapade was a fall that created swelling in her head and she had to be flown by the flight for life for emergency brain surgery. Now she won't talk to me which is fine as long as she is alive.

Things can certainly change once you are grown - we were so close when we were growing up. Oh well I still pray for them almost every day and beyond that I know things are the way I guess they need to be.

I have a half-sister from my dad's previous marriage who we do not keep in contact with, so I shouldn't really include her in that count. But then I have my two full-blood sisters. One is 5 years older than me and lives back in NJ with her fiance and 1 son, and the other is 3 years older than me and lives in Maryland with her husband and 2 kids. My sister back in NJ is expecting another child, this time a daughter, so it looks like I'll be an Aunt again. As for me, eventually I'll be ready to have my own, but I'm still just re-starting my life after my divorce and me and my fiance aren't prepared to bring a life into this world yet.
