So many people give this as a Christmas gift, but I think they are nasty and wouldn't buy it for anyone unless I knew they loved it.
-
YUCK!
-
Hate to answer a post with one word, but I will - NO
-
I've only had fruit cake once in my life. I was younger and I don't remember it tasting all that bad. It was over 20 years ago so my recollection may not be all that accurate.
-
I love cake and I love fruit but not put together like that.
We were given one once and my mother used at as a door stop for a few days then gave it to the birds! :turkey: :turkey: :peace:
-
No I do not like fruit cake, especially not put all together
-
This is an easy one - no I don't like or want fruit cake.
-
I do think I am the only one in the world that enjoys the partake of the fruit cake in holidays. They are so expensive to homemake them.
-
I dont like fruit cake and dont want it. If someone gave it to me, I'd dunno know what I'd do with it. Hate to just throw it away.
-
I agree
-
No, do not like fruit cake, my mother used to make them during the holidays
-
I like it but depends on WHO makes it. My sister in law does one that is delicious, she puts the fruits on the food processor, so they are not big and nasty, and her fruit cake comes wonderful, but some of the other cakes are nasty.
-
Fruit cakes is good, but why don't eat real fruits
-
I used to make them for my husband he loved them but I never acquired a taste for them
-
I've never enjoyed store bought fruit cake much, but I think it's because I'm not all that fond of those large dried cherries. They just taste like cherry flavored plastic to me. However, I do make a fruit cake which is really nice, consisting of bananas and avacados which are pulverised in the food processore - they just add flavor and help to keep it moist. Then I add pecans and occasionally finely chopped figs. I sprinkle it with some sugar and decoratively add some pecans on top and it comes out looking fantastic! I like to slice it and freeze it so that I don't feel in a rush to eat it.
-
I have to repeat what Nancy said above, hate to use one word but NO!
-
I have actually never tried fruit cake.
-
I despise fruit cake, but it never fails, every year I get more than one of them. :( I don't mean to sound unappreciative because I do appreciate being thought of but... it's "fruitcake". It just SCREAMS "re-gifted" item , and it feels like all the homeless, unwanted fruitcakes end up spending Christmas with me. I'm scared to put them out for the birds (don't want to kill them). I've tried to give them away, NO ONE WANTS them!!! ::)
-
I don't care for fruit cake!
-
kind of
-
Not the store bought stuff, then I've never had homemade either. I'm sure there is some good fruitcake out there I've yet to taste it.
-
No I do NOT like fruit cake
-
I enjoy fruit cake but only one from a bakery in Texas, expensive but good.

Agree! The Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas makes the world famous fruitcake that will change your mind about all those "fruitcake jokes" you've ever heard. It is rich and moist and has been a holiday "tradition" for as long as I can remember. Well, these "original recipe" fruitcakes date back to 1896 and ship worldwide.
I suppose I can understand why some people just don't like the type of fruit used in the recipe's batter, but chances are those cakes are too dry anyway, quickly turning so hard you could use them as a door stop. Not the Collin Street Bakery fruitcake.....

To me fruit cake should be done by one who really knows how to marry those ingredient so that, they taste really good. If I can get my hands on a well made one I'll eat it otherwise no thank you.
-
99% of them NO. However i did have a gourmet one from a nice restaurant and I enjoyed it!
-
I think if people made it fresh it would be very different and probably delicious instead of disgusting lol
-
Call me crazy, but I actually don't mind the taste of fruit cake! I think it's something you have to get used to, like an acquired taste.
-
I love fruit cake. I just bought two. One for myself and one to bring to my mom. I surprised her with her favorite cake. She had no idea I was going to bring her a cake.
-
I don't care for the store bought ones, but some homemade ones i really like, , hubby does not like the store bought either, But now that there is just te two of us, i don't spend a lot of time making the fruit all year that goes into it. Which means candied. It takes a lot of time. So why do it.
-
No, and if someone is giving someone a fruitcake for a Christmas gift what's that tell you about how they feel about that person, think about it ;D 8)
-
Yuck. I haven't had it since I was a kid but I don't think I would like it now either.
-
Only like my Grandma use to make soaked all year in brandy and rum
-
yes, love the texure and that it lasts :silly:
-
I love fruitcake but not all fruitcake. I do not like the dark ones I prefer the lighter n color
-
no I do not like them.
-
I have not eaten fruit cake in a very long time.
-
You know a lot of people don't like them but the ones I have had are really soft, moist, and pretty good! I don't know where the stereotypes that they are as hard as bricks come from and are really gross but I have had one every year for the past 10 years and they are good to me👍🏼
-
Yes... I do!
-
I have had some that is very good and some is very bad
-
All I've ever heard about fruit cake throughout my life has been negative! I can't remember every trying it, but if it was vegan, I'd give it a go. Would maybe help me understand why no one cares for it! lol
-
I love to eat fruit cake.
-
I actually liked them from what I remember. My grandma used to get them, and I remember tasting them when I would visit her. I haven't tried one since I was little. The ones I see now look artificial and not appealing. I've heard that homemade fruitcake is good, so I'd like to try that.
-
No, I don't like fruit cake. It's nasty. I feel bad for people who receive it as a Christmas gift.
-
I really like fruit, but fruit cake I would pass. :)
-
No, hate fruit cake, I think it's the worse gift you could give!
-
yes its ok if its made right,,,,,, :star: :star:
-
I do not like them!
-
hmmm that is interesting.... fruit cakes in Italy for instance are the most used in parties or Sunday lunch or any celebration.... but they are also all 100% natural and with real fruit... and they are delicious!
I believe I never tried a US fruit cake yet.... so now I am really curious of why lots of people said it is yukky...
:glasses-nerdy:

I never liked fruitcake until years ago when I was served a piece my husband's aunt made herself. Let me tell you I wish I had the recipe cause it was the best I ever had. She used to make it in September, store it in a can and every day drizzle rum over it until Christmas time when it was served.
-
If its the only thing to eat, sure
-
I love FruitCake
-
I actually do I don't know why so many people hate it the ones I eat are soft and pretty good tasting.
-
I'm a fan of cake. I'll eat any cake that tastes remotely good.
-
No, not at all when I was growing up we always got a fruit cake from people as gifts, I never acquired the taste for them and now avoid them at all coast!!!
-
No, I don't eat fruit cake. It's too dense to chew.
