Do you like buying gift cards or like picking out a gift for friends? I like gift cards
Because we know everyone likes money and it makes shopping easier especially
If you have health issues as I do.
-
Neither - I believe it is the joy of seeing your kids wake up on Christmas morning with the excitement that SANTA has came and spent the time to bring that child what they hoped for all year long. I love seeing there faces the most so buying a gift card or gifts is just a shameless monetary promotion that big business has made possible for the holiday season.
-
A lot easier to get a gift card to a mall or store that I know that they frequent. I tell people "if you don't know, get met a Starbucks or Amazon card."
-
It depends on who it is for.
Younger kids all like to open presents, so they all get presents. I do gift cards for adults predominantly, and to my gardeners.
For Birthdays, I send all extended family's kids gift cards.
-
For kids always presents and never clothing. I do buy presents but also get gift cards for places I know they love.
-
I normally end up getting both. I try my best to give gifts but some folks are impossible to buy for these days.
-
I usually buy gift for my family and friends. But if there are no idea then I would thinking of gift cards.
-
OH yes another yearly question ::) ::) ::) zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 8)

A gift is always more personal, but I think so me people are just too hard to buy for, so gift cards are great!
-
I think I will give gift cards this year. Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you safe. :)
-
I give gift cards; It's much easier for the younger people who like to go shopping on their own.
-
I give gift cards for the kids and some gift.

I guess historically I have always thought that buying gift cards was a slightly lazy option. But now that my kids are reaching their teenage years, I can see that there is certainly a place for them. I remember what it was like to receive a gift which I felt was a waste of money, and I was disappointed, not for myself but for the person that bought the gift for me. I felt like they had wasted their money. So to give a gift card is really saying, I want my gift to be right on the money! It is great for teenagers or for someone who you don't know very well.

GCs for the adults and toys for he kids :)
-
They can be good gifts

I agree with aflyingmonkey - kids love presents - and I enjoy the anticipation of watching them open them. There expressions are priceless. But with many it seems gift cards are the way to go. I recently received a gift and and held onto the old adage - it's the thought that counts. There have been years where I didn't get my own children much - not for not wanting to.. .but for not being able to afford it. Those years are the most precious to me - The hard lessons of being broke made a bigger impact on my children than any gift under the tree ever could be worth!

Gifts for kids and gift cards for adults, so they can get whatever they want.
-
I like a combination of the two.
-
I like getting gift cards because that person can go buy what they want and don't have to return anything.
-
I want to receive gift cards but i love to give gifts.
-
Ilike giving gift cards since i dont know what my friends need or want.
-
it depends on teh person .
-
I prefer gift cards since they are easier and it allows someone to buy whatever they want with a gift card at their desired merchant.
-
I prefer to give gifts, but if I hit a dead end with ideas, I'll go for a gift card. One of the best gifts I ever received was a $200 prepaid Visa card when I was a teenager. I was able to get everything I could dream of, haha. I think things like that are good for people that change their mind a lot about what they want. :snowman: :)
-
I'd rather give a gift.

For Christmas I like to get personal & purchase gifts but for birthdays I usually buy gift cards to stores I know they shop at.
-
I use both. I have some family that is far away, so it is less hassel to send them a card to a store or restaurant they like. But for kids I like to see them open the gifts. I also like to send checks for college funds besides gifts when they do not really need anything. [/b

I think for kids they should get a physical present and for teenagers and adults they can get a gift card but not to a specific store. That way I don't have to worry about being the one that bought a horrible gift and it being returned. Besides some people are really hard to shop for! These are the type of people that seem like they have everything 🙄
-
It really depends. I love getting gift cards since I never know at the time what I want. Kids love getting gifts which is where we spend the most energy in getting gifts.
-
I like gift card that way they . because that way can get what ever would like
-
They can both be good gifts but I rather have a gift card because you know what you want to buy.
-
Gift cards are easier for me. I always have a hard time picking out stuff for people.
-
gift cards are alot easier!!!!!!!!!!!! :snowman: :snowman:

I think gift cards can be great if the recipient uses the store or at least shows interest in the store. I would be glad to get a Walmart gift card because I regularly shop there. But getting gift cards for random places that I do not use is the ultimate gesture of "don't like you". Gifts take thought so therefore are more meaningful, but as always cash is better!!!

I would rather have an actual gift but gift cards are good and better than getting somebody a gift they will not use at all. A couple of years ago I got a pack of socks that were different colors. They were thin and really tight at the top. I could not wear them because they were too tight. So they were useless to me. But I had to act like I loved them. : )

I would say giftcards or cash. I would say cash
-
I prefer picking gifts all the time... but then if you have that weird friend who does not like anything... a gift card is always safer.. at least they buy whatever they want! :)
-
I will reiterate several responses already given, and that is that it depends on who it is. For someone under about 13 or 14 years of age, I believe an actual gift that is wrapped and they can open is the best choice. However, for anyone older, I get them gift cards now that I am older and don't like to park in the crowded malls and shop much during the season. I guess I'm just over all that now that my kids are grown and gone and my one grandchild I don't see often. Her mother usually buys an actual gift for her with money I've sent since I haven't a clue what a 10 year old would want any more. I'm also on a strict budget for Christmas.
-
I like giving gifts but there are a few of those that are huge pains to buy for. Those are the ones that get gift cards. I usually prefer to buy the prepaid visa cards instead of store cards usually.
-
Many of my family members prefer gift cards. Its easy, but kind of boring.

This is true. If you are going to just exchange cash then why not just get together for a meal and go by yourself something after Christmas. :)
-
Both are a great idea...I love Christmas shopping, picking out and wrapping gifts for people. I throw in a gift card so they can buy something of their choosing and get a physical gift to unwrap.
:present:

Gift cards so i can buy my own gifts with presents.
