Title: "I'll call you"
Post by: Gerianne on December 24, 2016, 10:41:04 am
in this day and age, lots of people have their phone to their ear.
they can't put it down for very long.
Then, on the other extreme, there are friends who say "I'll call you" and hesitate as they go to dial the number.

Oh I never hesitate to call people. When i go on walks i call people when I am feeling down I will call people when I am eating lunch when I am driving. I still enjoy talking on the phone fairly often mainly because all my friends dont live to close anymore.

I don't make phone calls very often. I usually don't even text very much. But I still find myself with my phone in my hand most of the time, because of all the apps I use.

Texting is really the big thing. Why do people hesitate. I just dont answer. People like their privacy

I'm one of those who sometime hesitate when I call people. I guess for me and my busy schedule that I would rather take that free second to relax and text someone instead of talking.

I use my phone more for entertainment purposes than for phone calls. Facebook, texting, gaming, mobile banking, etc. Don't get me wrong, I use it to call my family when I can, but I'm not glued to it in the sense of non-stop talking. I actually prefer to use my home phone to make calls, as the reception in my room is terrible and most times I lose calls.

I dont say I'll call you...it's text me or I'll text you.  I find it so much easier and faster to text.

I don't talk on the phone very much anymore and none of my friends ever say "I'll call you". It's crazy how talking on the phone has become more of an annoyance to me nowadays.

It was weird, one of my friends and I was texting and I just said to call me because it would be easier and then there was no response. I still have not heard from him for over a week now. ::)

I make calls on my home phone, because it's cheaper (I only pay $75 a year) and if I use my cell I text (but I input the message with voice).

When I have the choice, I prefer to text other people because it doesn't demand that they be available when I chose to communicate with them. When you call people, you really are saying I wish to speak and this is when is convenient for me.  When you text, you are giving your recipient time to respond, time to decide whether it is convenient to speak, and what to say. For anyone that knows me, they text me. If a subject matter is too complicated to text, I will text first to ask if it is a convenient time to talk!

The older I get I have found my time is precious.  It seems I'm trying to cram more and more into a day now than any other time in my life.  Texting is sufficient in getting to the point... phone calls can be so lengthy and drifted.  Thus taking more of my time.  Now I'm not a time snob.... if someone needs to talk I do everything I can do be there for them.

It seems like me. :)  I usually stated that when I meet someone that long time no see or not close.  Just a social statement for me. :)

What is the subject for discussion?
All you do is make an off the wall statement and you do this constantly like you don't comprehend what a forum is ::)  Please wake up and smell the coffee, see a doctor, a psychologist, talk to a teacher, a friend because you definitely have problems if you can't understand a simple concept 8) :peace: Have a blessed day.

It appears everyone does it once in awhile. If you ever go on job interviews or see those dating shows, it appears that most people would rather be pleasant than to be blunt. They would say, "I'll call you rather than I really don't have the time to chat with you, etc.etc.etc." Maybe it is easier because it leaves them some room for you to call them then maybe by that time, they have the time for you. (I have no idea what goes on in other people's mind)

I think  lot of people sleep with their cell phone and wake up with it in their bed.  Have you noticed on some of the tabloids where celebrities always, always have their phone in hand and water in the other hand.  You take their cell phone and their life stops.  It's crazy but there it is.  I often wonder what is in the bottle other than water.  JS.

Frankly, I think it is somewhat sad that people prefer to text over talking to a friend or family member on the phone once in a while.  Not taking the time to hear someone's voice, laughter, or perhaps pain is perhaps part of the reason for estrangement and loneliness in society today.  Also, not having the personal, human touch to things is possibly why we don't look at each other in a humane manner any longer, getting angry over the simplest things such as making a mistake in traffic. For example, some of the road rage incidents I've heard about are absurd. People are becoming so concentrated on a stupid cell phone and sending little smiley faces, but they should see what their own face looks like much of the time.  A smile to greet a stranger seems to be becoming a rare thing.  I am much more likely to see a scowl!

If someone starts a long conversation by text, I'll say call me because I don't feel like doing all that typing and it's easier to converse on the phone.  If they are slow dialing, I call them.

I've joined the "I'll text you" faction of society.
I love to text, so much easier & time saving... cut to the chase. :)
