Anyone else with upper respiratory issues like bad cough? I have been sick for almost two months.
My next option is ear, nose & throat doc. Did you have success with meds
given to you by your primary care doc or the emergency room of a hospital?
-
Melody have you been to the doctor? I just got over an acute upper respiratory illness. My doctor prescribed an oral med and a nasal spray and I no longer have it. It was a dry cough and cold. I also drank lots of orange juice and other citrus liquids.

I get sinus infections, bronchitis and ear infections, all right around the same time with each other. I have had to have my doc get me a number of meds to fight off everything. So get checked as that sounds like bronchitis turning into pneumonia. And, no, I'm not a doctor, but my mom had the same thing happen earlier this year and didn't go to the doc till it was almost pneumonia. She had to do 2 rounds of meds to get rid of it!

I can have a cold/flu forever. Doc don't help well, these pain relievers are hard on your kidneys too. have you tried, aroma therapy? I bought a interior house paint for your walls, called The Shield, it helps kills virus and etc... look into this your symptoms may ease. Acorn oil, acts as a natural antibiotic I found that out from shopping for squirrel food instead of feeding them peanuts. You go to the docs first because you can be sensitive to these oils that acts as an antibiotics, and you will be in the hospital because of this my blogg!!!!! Learn to hold your breath for 5 minutes. I just remembered this one: get a vibrator (can get to fit your rib cage too) use it on your sinuses nose, throat and your upper back.

You have the flu and it sound bad.

My son and I have been having a cough since Thanksgiving, They finally gave us antibiotics after 3 weeks of coughing so much I felt I did a thousand sit ups. ( you would have to know me that 1 sit up would be a huge task ). They helped but , the cough is still lingering. Tylenol cold and sinus cough medicine helps and alka seltzer cold and flu. Hope you feel better soon.

My worst bout with a cough was cured by an inhaler. It's worth a shot if your doc will prescribe.

I have been to the doctor twice and emergency once and on 5 medications. I will be seeing a ear, nose & throat doc next. I am glad you are ok.

If you have had a cough for 2 months, you need to make them check for pneumonia. I had it last year. They just kept trying antibiotics which didn't work. Sometimes you have to help the doctors along with the diagnosis. Just be careful.
-
I hope your cough will go away soon.

I had a bad respiratory illness for a while and the only way I got rid of it was going to the doctor and getting meds for it.
-
I hate it when my throats tickles because of a cough.
-
That not good to whole. Just go to the doctor and test it out. Anything do with lung is not good for your health.
-
Over the counter (OTC) meds are not going to work if you have a serious respiratory infection. If the meds your nurse/doctor gave you do not work let them know, so they can change them. If that does not work, change health provider.

I have the mess that is going around here in middle Tennessee and I have been sick since
Thanksgiving. I still have the cough and it will not go away. Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)

Don't forget to drink lots of water to keep your mucous membranes moist. They can't support nasty bugs when they're moist.
Take Vitamin C in a good quantity, like at least 1,000 mg. You can't really take too much of it.
Honey and lemon are good for sore throats. Even if you spoon it like cough syrup or put it in your tea. Tea with honey and lemon is soothing for your throat.
Make sure your air is humidified properly. Dry mucous membranes help those germs to proliferate. Use a steam machine to open your sinuses, or just put a towel over your head above a bowl of steaming hot water. Don't be afraid to go outside and breathe some fresh air. Change your sheets so you're not exposing yourself to the germs you went to bed with last night.
Gargle with warm salt water. Use a neti pot if you're brave enough. Get some good rest. If my throat hurts when I go to bed, I let a cough drop slowly dissolve in my mouth as I fall asleep. No, I've never choked on it. It's just soothing enough to allow me to fall asleep.
Keep warm, but not too warm. Wear socks. Use salve on your sore nose if you need it. Chicken soup, preferably homemade, is wonderfully soothing. Put some hot peppers in it to help loosen phlegm. Blow your nose, but not too hard.
Be calm and stay well. :rainbow:

I have been sick for 3 months. I finally went to an ENT in Philly and now I am on antibiotics for the next month. I have also had a cough now for 6 years and I am still trying to solve that one.
-
Just keep taking care of your body and the sickness should eventually go away.
-
Avoid throat irritants: Alcohol, smoking, spicy foods and other stuff that can irritate your throat.

I had that Thanksgiving and Christmas. I had to go to dr. 2 times before I got better. :(

My family and I lived in an apartment for 4 years that was dry. Dry from the cold chill in Illinois winters ... as well as dry in that sometimes the heat didn't work and we literally warmed up standing around an open stove. (DANGEROUS) We were always sick. It was a small space for 2 adults, 2 teens and and a child... so we passed whatever we had from one to another. Mixed with asthma and allergies we were all always a mess. We moved last spring and with an occasional sniffel... we're all much healthier. Perhaps check your surroundings.

I had it for 4 weeks. I had to go to dr. twice before I got over it. :(

I have been very fortunate this year and have not gotten this bug that's going around but it appears to be a very bad one

A lot of my northern friends are saying they have pneumonia. Sounds like a rough season.
-
Well, an ear, nose and throat specialist sounds like a good idea to me. If I were you, I'd defintely get one cause they seem to be more up to date on current treatments and meds. Good luck - hope you feel better real soon!!
-
Are you on any new meds? Maybe you have an allergy to the new or any other med. Some do cause coughs as a side affect.
It also could be what others have suggested. I'd would go with an upper respiratory infection, but I'm not a doctor. You definitely need to be seen by a specialist.
Hope you feel better soon and get to the bottom of the cough.
-
I hope it isn't pneumonia. I hope you feel better.
-
Sorry to hear that .... I hope you start to feel better soon

I have been having a cough for the last 2 weeks. I did have a bad cold but the cough has not gone away. Im finally going to see a doc tomorrow. When I breath at night I sound like a muffler.

When anything we have is persistent we should always seek medical help. Doctors can can diagnose things we're unaware of having.
-
Seems like this is going on all over. I've had mine for almost three weeks.
