Title: Anyone else have a home theater system? Please help!
Post by: MichelleHW101 on December 31, 2016, 11:06:20 am
I had a blu-ray 3D Home theatre system which I had to replace because they no long made updates for it (Thank you Smasung) and I got tired of losing all my speakers every single time I lost a player.  So, I bought a Sony 4K Blu-Ray player then a Bose Soundbar (the SoundTouch 300).  I hooked up the soundbar to my 55in Insignia HD tv.  (It’s about 4yrs old but still works fine.)  Next I got a Sony HI Def receiver and hooked the blu-ray, my Sony dvd player, and Magnivox vcr to the receiver.  (My cable box is not yet HD).  Well 20min into watching a movie, the receiver would shut off.  I decided leave the receiver off and just turn on a player and tv.  I was able to watch as long as I wanted no problem.  I went to Best Buy and they told me that because I have a soundbar and no other speakers I didn’t need the receiver which is why it was shutting off.  My TV does not have enough HDMI ports for everything so, I still needed some kind of hub.  So, I returned the receiver and got a Rocketfish 4 port HDMI swtichbox.  Now it’s doing the same thing!  Why is it not registering I am using a device and stay on?  I can’t by pass it like a receiver so, every 20min I have to turn it back on and I’m getting frustrated.  Four days now and I can’t enjoy my brand new blu-ray or soundbar!  What can I use that will allow me to plug my HDMI devices into my tv that I can either leave off and just use the tv and the device or stay on until I’m ready to close it?  I’ve returned the hub for a new one because it’s not supposed to say on and the new one does the same thing!
