This was a topic of conversation over the past weekend! People I grew up with are now passing away!! (and not too young, either!!)
-
May they all rest in peace. We have lost many good people. They just don't make many like that anymore.
-
Sadly it happens but thats life the reaper eventually comes for all

Yup, agreed. I thought I was going to have music when I got very old. Well, I lived through pets...some died from old age...I do miss them...I have a backyard pet cemetery. I think back at my cars when I was a teen, are worth $, now, I could not save them in plastic in a shed, I wish I could. The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger became the oldest father in the show-business-world. Jack Nicholson retired, now he said he will only only play parts that is very dear to his heart, over his years, he is worth 400 million $, wow. Did you know I feel like I am young, don't look in the mirror, but I am beautiful. So, young people, there is a life you will like..so hope you learn that...you will get there remember that..I need more care lol.

I hear ya. My daughter is turning 4 tomarrow.

It's life, but it's still sad. :( Still reeling from Carrie Fisher and Gene Wilder's deaths.

You know your old when you think someone age45 is a baby. At 59 i think a 45 yr old is a baby.

When you go to the store and because there is snow ... you have to walk like a duck!!! And any one older and a little over weight knows just what I mean..... and also when one pants leg is stuck in your boot part way and the other is not and you just smile and say oh well! I remember as a kid seeing people like this and thinking (What a knuckle head) well now I'm the knuckle head and i get a giggle going! :silly: :silly: :silly: That's when you know your getting old you are 100% cool with yourself.

How about the deaths already in 2017 that make you feel old, like Mary Tyler Moore. Her shows were a very important part of my youth.

Very very sad yes....

Some great people have passed for sure. they were icons. And will be missed. some of the TV shows now are a waste of time, i don't even bother watching. And now when i meet young people and they are are in their 40's and 50's it sure does make me feel like i am getting up there. Now when i meet a person in their 30's i think of them being only in their teens, My how time has flown by.

Yes it does seem that all the stars I grew up with are passing away. I never thought I would be this old, it just sort of catches up with you.

Bigpar: Wait until your youngest child is 36 years and getting close to 37! And that's your youngest. All I can advise you is remember to be mindful of the present and enjoy the moments. Try to make memories to keep in your mind as both you and your children grow older.

I am drawing near to the completion of my life time goal which was to raise two wonderful children to adulthood and provide them with all of the mental tools necessary to be independent and highly successful. My daughter has never had less than an 'A' from a teacher, is in her second year at an engineering school ranked as number one in the country last year, been on the Dean's list every semester and is currently studying abroad. My son just turned eighteen, graduates from the State's best preparatory high school, has played lacrosse at the nineteen year old level since he was fifteen, was on the honor roll last semester and looking to repeat this semester and is beginning to load our mail box with college offers. Both kids are humble, compassionate, and volunteer for community service projects without being asked. I am a very proud father.

2016 was a crazy year...

Hello! :D
Yes it is trully sad, so many have lost their life, and there are more deaths to come on 2017. I'm getting old, I recently find out that the music I grew up listening to are now 20 years old. Wow time flies and flies. I hope to be alive to see many more changes.

I was shaken up when my icons died when I was in my 20s on up. I loved so many that played gansters - George Raft, Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, James Cagney (or is he still living?), then there's the horror movie starts like Bela Lugosi, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, and then the others, Robert Stack, Rod Sterling, James Dean, Natalie Wood, Sal Mineo, Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, Errol Flynn, Elvis, and more.
Personal best friends are gone, one 10 years ago, one 2 years ago, and one a year ago. I only have acquaintances now. Our paper is filled with young ones in their 20s-60s. Some suddenly, some of cancer. Rare to have them go of natural causes 9in their sleep) around my area. What really shakes me up is classmates who have died in the past couple years. That's enough or I'll get depressed. :':(

Honestly, the only time I actually feel old is when another Hollywood Icon I grew up watching has died. It just blows my mind that the year 2000 was almost 20years ago. I still watch the old shows I grew up watching since I don't care much for the new ones outside of a handful. What saddens me is how privileged I feel growing up in the 80's. The music sounded like music not something from a computer. The tv shows had real actors who threw themselves into each role they played. The cartoon animation was all drawn proportionate and everything was about thinking and morals and lessons taught. We had He-Man, She-Ra, the Littles, Gimmie Bears, Mr Rodgers. We were raised with going outside to play with friends, and if we wanted to talk to someone we went to their house, talked on the phone, or sent letters. Our legos didn't have instructions or were build sets that only came with parts to build specific things on the box. There was a maturity back then which isn't present now. We didn't looked at being spanked at parent abuse. We knew the difference. So yes, when I pause to think how old I am it scares me but thinking about all the things I grew up with, it makes me proud to be the age am.

When my grandchildren are in their 20's

That's all part of the human life cycle on earth. People come and they go.

My oldest turns 38 this year....I have grandchildren turning 21 down to 6 weeks!
Make memories at every stage, because time really does fly past fast!
Memory making tonight included crawling on the floor with race cars with the two year old grandson and vacuuming the living room with him (at his request!) Calvin loves the vacuum.

you have trouble walking down the stairs in the morning
-
Many of my friends and neighbors and the love of my life have passed away so that makes me not feel old but know i'm old
-
you have grey hair

I gave up on Hollywood icons when Gregory Peck died, and boy does that age me! Think i was in my 40's, now in my 70's.
What hurts now is when my son died, at 43, my nephew at 63. The losses are closer now.

You know you're getting old when...
You watch award shows and don't know half of the people nominated.
