google may be the search engine a lot of people go to first.
there are numerous others out there.
when the internet first came out, there was one called "profusion".
it was straight forward; you didn't get a lot of "other stuff".
I like a web page that has done the surfing for me.
refdesk has been a useful tool.
although, I did like surfing when the internet was "new"
a lot of "community" pages have disappeared, geocities, for example.
I used to surf for poems.

"geocities" WOW i remember that being my first stab at HTML made a stupid site with lots of silly moving Gifs. The good old days of no one even knowing what a google was !!! And telling people it was going to happen and being told i was NUTS ! hahahh thanks for taking me back to the simple days of playing The Oregon Trail and Binion’s World Series of Poker
