I want to take up dancing to lose weight. What type of dance should I take that is fun and in good taste for most people?

Swing dancing is a great way to meet new people, get some great exercise and have major fun! :party:
Take some classes and just dance with everyone who will dance with you.
My second favorite is salsa and merengue. They are really fun, but it's hard to find those kind of classes.

I know a mom who took belly dancing with her daughter. My friend and her brother took swing classes and were a hit at every party after that. My sister-in-law took tango and said it makes her feel good. jazzercise is a fun workout that can be like a dance routine. My best friend lost weight taking zumba which is exhausting but fun according to her.
