Title: Knee brace
Post by: melodylogan45 on July 22, 2017, 09:03:46 am
Anyone else wearing a custom knee brace, if so how is it working for you?  I have only had mine for a week and it's not working so well. First I do not like it because it's so big and bulky and I seem to have to tighten it a lot.

So far I am just wearing it around the house while I do my house work. I have not worn it outside and will not wear it to work since I sit for 8 hours a day at my computer.

I am gonna to try to make the best of it.

I have been told to get an elastic knee brace for working in the garden.

I have osteo-arthritis in both knees, and bursitis in one.

My one leg is swollen and harder to navigate, and occasionally it gives out a little. The brace is so I will not fall.

Old age is not an easy road.

Nay - I went to therapy for a month 1/2 for my knees.  The side muscles were week on both knees and when I stand, get up... sit... my knees turn in.  So I've been working on my stance... particularly at work... amped up walks to longer times and inclines.  The muscles are getting stronger... the knees aren't as swollen.  Naproxen works with reducing swelling... Ibuprofrin and tylonal do not.  I too tried elastic braces and therapist said they were worthless... that I'd need some custom brace that would run into the $100's price range.  So I've opted to exercise and loose weight... that seems to be doing the trick.
