I just found out that Disney will be pulling its content off of Netflix and starting their own streaming services by 2019. For me this is a little frustrating because now I am going to have to pay for two services instead of one.
How do you all feel about Disney's decision? Will you subscribe to Disney's services and Netflix?
-
It won't affect our family...but, if it did I'd be angry. I hope that Disney gets a truckload of negative feedback...and perhaps thinks better of putting its loyal customers second and its shareholders first.
-
This does not affect me. I don't think it is the smartest idea of Disney though because people won't want to pay for another service.
-
I heard about this news from Jim Cramer on Tuesday when Disney's quarterly earnings came out. He explained why he thought Disney's CEO had to come up with something with the losses they had been experiencing. Disney thinks what it has to offer will stand on its own just like its theme parks. It doesn't affect me, but I do believe Netflix subscribers will be confused and mad, too.
-
We do not have netflix so it does not effect us. It does suck for all the families that will have to have both.
-
It was a matter of time. I would look into the prices and see what all Disney has to offer before saying yes or no to using their service.

I agree with you amyDAST. It was just a matter of time until Disney started streaming their own. I probably won't be subscribing though. One service is enough for me.

All them people care about is making money, and if they get more while we get less it's going to happen.
-
I personally don't like Netflix due to their ethics, but my husband bout a NVIDIA shield and we canceled all our subscriptions. It comes with Kodi which streams it all free. The NVIDIA also has a gaming controller and comes with a game streaming thing which is great if you have kids.
-
Don't have either so no impact
-
We have Netflix and like them
-
It doesn't really affect me bc I don't care about Disney that much, but I think it's an unpleasant thing to do. Hopefully people realize how unnecessary it is and it'll tank.
-
It won't effect me much, cause I don't watch Netflix for Disney stuff...It sucks that Netflix will ultimately suffer. Plus, I heard they are already in debt (prior to this announcement). Disney is extremely GREEDY...Who has the money to pay for all these different services? They (Disney) most likely won't be at the top of peoples priorities. So this new venture will probably fail.
-
I don't have netflix but I think Disney is doing a bad idea. a lot of customers they will lose doing that. not their wisest decision.
-
Disney owns Netflix, they just want to double their money.
-
It doesn't surprise me to be honest. I'm going to stick with Netflix. I like Disney and all but I don't need a separate streaming service for their stuff.
-
It's all about the $$$$$$$. Disney is big enough to start their own services.
-
Disney is so greedy... it's true.
I won't subscribe to a Disney service... isn't that basically ABC & ESPN anyway
I don't like the way their philosophy is heading so left after taking off Last Man Standing despite high ratings...
I'll stick with Netflix :)
-
I havent used netflix in many years, so it wont bother me. But Im sure it will affect my son who gets a lot of shows for my grandson.
-
It ends up being all about money. Disney thinks they can make more by providing their own streaming service. Time will tell. I am just sad that I don't have as easy access to their movies anymore.
-
wow did not know this,,, I don't watch net flex often but we do have it. my grand daughter like the disney movies. she will miss them :( Disney is getting greedy but then who isn't now days
-
I won't consider subscribing. I don't see what good it would do me if I can access any Disney adventures from elsewhere for less money.
-
The Big Boys can do whatever they want. It's always all about the cash. Who knows what's going to happen in a year or so? I would watch and wait. Plus, you can always get free DVD's at the library. There are several cost-free ways to entertain yourself: Try nature/the outdoors.
-
Your picture looks like Jon Bon Jovi.
-
That a bummer. I was hopping that I would see some good old Disney movies added on there eventually but I guess not.
-
I don't really have anything to say about this I don't have Netflix.

I could care less. I don't pay for either one. Makes sense though because it gives them more money.

WHY? Why would you be angry that they are doing something to make more money for THEIR company. They are not going to change their mind because some people get mad. Enough people will subscribe that it won't matter. And if you get Disney thru Netflix then you are loyal to Netflix not Disney. Just sayin'
-
It's probably the wave of the future. Every company is going to have their own streaming service eventually. Some probably won't have good enough content to last, but they'll all try it.
-
I feel like this is a bad decision... I mean, between Netflix and Disney, most people will pick to subscribe to Netflix and not Disney.
-
I'm feeling a little disappointed. There are some Disney movies on Netflix that I don't own (or can't access) otherwise. I use Netflix for far more than just Disney movies, but one of the great things about Netflix is that it provides a wide variety of movies I CAN see - including well-loved animations like those from Disney.
-
I don't know if all Disney properties will transfer over. Remember that they also own Star Wars and Marvel and I know some Marvel properties aren't transferring over right now. I guess we'll wait and see.
-
No effect on us since we do not have Netflix, but that will be an additional cost to customers that do and may want because they have children; perhaps they should re-think but I am sure with them money is the bottom line and like most corporations they care little about how it affects theirs customers pocketbook :(
-
will stick with netflix
-
I wish Disney wasn't so possessive of their stuff. It's (some of it) great stuff for sure, but surely they are raking in enough cash that they don't need to cause people the pain of yet another subscription.
-
Netflix has more selection, how much would Disney charge?
-
Nope, I will not subscribe. I'll just watch it on the web.
I pay for Netflix now but might switch to hulu, but oh well. Disney wont make or break my decision
-
We will continue with Netflix
-
Good news for me: the deal is only for the USA. I'm in Canada so we're not affected!
-
Get ready for more companies like Disney doing that.
-
Disney is stupid for doing this.
-
it is kind of a bummer especialy if you got kids......

They are a business. They are in it to make money. I am not sure why that is so hard to understand. If people want the service they will pay for it. It is a good move for Disney. And they like every other company out there are in it for themselves.
-
Disney is stupid for doing this.
No they aren't. They will make more money. You may not like it but they are not stupid for doing something to allow them to make more money. I don't watch too much disney any more any way. I don't like what they stand for and it has nothing to do with this particular move.
People will get over it. It is like the boycotting them when they had the g-a-y kissing scene in the was it Cinderella movie? Most of the people who "boycotted" them have already went back to watching them. They know you will be back. They know people will subscribe to this new service.
-
I'm glad its cancelling its partnership with Netflix the shows they offer for kids aren't even that good anymore nor enjoyable from my eyes and my nieces.
