Title: Skin Cancer
Post by: oldbuddy on October 01, 2017, 12:58:28 am
Anyone here had much experience with skin cancer? I had one removed from my temple and the doctor said 99% sure it would never come back, but one of my nurses said most people get more if they had one. I guess I will take one step at a time, but just wondered.

I have had a melanoma successfully (i.e. fully) removed from my face a while back. Once that happens, it is a good idea to go back to the dermatologist every 6 months to have him or her check your whole body for other skin cancers. They check everything from your scalp to between your toes. You would be surprised and where on their bodies some people get skin cancer. I have lost two friends to skin cancer they didn't get checked early enough so just put your mind to doing it.

I have never dealt with skin cancer in my family or friends, I'm no help. Sure hope you don't have to deal with it any more, cancer is a very nasty problem. I've spent my whole life watching my family go from different forms!  Prayers for you!!

Thank you for that sound advice, it's not the first time I heard it, so I am definitely going to make it part of my future plans.

I have had several basal cell carcinoma spots removed over the years.  I go back to the dermatologist annually for a thorough "look over" to be sure I don't have anymore and if there are spots, I get them removed.
