I was reading the responses to the question on how many meet strangers online and it made me wonder how many of us throw away all junk mail without even opening it (or looking at fliers).
Sometimes there is really good stuff in there, but you never know if you throw it away unopened.
Have you found any treasures?

I almost threw away an envelope this summer that came from the local newspaper (which I had no interest in signing up for).
Was starting to throw it in the trash, and suddenly felt a strong desire to open it. It was a check for $236!!!
I had requested help for a car repair months before (I am on partial Social Security, very little income). I never heard back. The request had been approved, and they work out of the local newspaper....I had no idea about that.
God is good. I had prayed for the approval of my request for months. Evidently, it had been lost for a while. When they found it and approved it, God did not let me throw it away. Looked just like another dumb ad.
Was wonderful, to say the least.
Also a payout from website came by check once. The name on the envelope was different than the name of the survey site. I almost threw that one away too. Now I mostly cash-out through PayPal... very fast, and don't have to deal with envelopes that look like junk mail and checks.

Yes, I do look at junk mail, then throw them away.
-
Nope, I do not. I've never found any treasures.
-
I skim through it real quick

My mother was a treasure when it came to junk mail.... open it all, saved all the pre-paid envelopes and then jam them full of all the rest of her junk mail and sale flyers, having to tape them shut, :silly: :silly: and would mail them back.. The junk stopped showing up!
-
Depends, some I just throw without opening, others I open and just glance before throwing.
-
I look through junk mail very quickly, then throw it away. My husband though will try to hold on to junk mail so I try to beat him to it so I can get rid of it.
-
I usually look through it in case there's a calendar, notepad, or other freebie in it.
-
I look at junk mail sometimes. I've found free magazine subscription before
-
Can't say I always do but I know I look at least 99% of it, especially if it's an envelope that has to be opened. No big treasures but certainly have received calendars, return address labels, a few pens and other small stuff. I don't mind junk mail.

I USED to do what your mom did above; but more recently I just drop a business card with my FusionCash (and other) affiliate referral links into the return envelopes and send them back on their way. At some point somebody is going to open one of those envelopes and wonder what this GetPaid! link is all about and check it out. For all I know, someone already has!

Nope I don't look at junk mail.

Most of it no. I don't know of any good stuff in junk mail. Some of the junk will have stickers in it which is good for the kids.
-
I take a quick look at some of it. A lot of it you can tell where it's from and if I have no interest in that, then I don't look any further. I do go through everything to check to see if it is addressed to me specifically and if so, I tear that portion out and shred it. Name and address never goes in the trash without shredding first!
-
I glance through it quickly, and then usually toss right into the recycle can.
-
I do read junk mail cause at times you get good stuff
-
I look through it most of the time but usually end up throwing most of it out.
-
I don't always read my junk mail closely but I always open it and look through it before I throw it away.I pick out all the mail that needs to be shredded, such as credit card or loan offers,or mail with a lot of personally identifying information on it before putting the rest in the regular wastebasket.
-
Yes, look at my junk mail. A few times my good mail ended up in my junks.
-
I don't usually have the patience to look through junk mail. If it was up to me I'd throw it away immediately. But I can't do that, because when my husband comes home, he'll want to look at each piece individually and try to find treasure. Of course, sometimes he does!
-
Yes, I look at the junk mail. I received a ten dollar survey once and I was glad I didn't throw it away.
-
I open junk mail....I tear off any identifying information...name, address, to be shredded. The rest goes to recycling.
-
I do look thru junk / spam and sometimes find some interesting things. Most of the time i just get spam and no treasure yet.
-
I do, because it sometimes has personal information that needs to be shredded
-
I open the junk mail destroy all of the pieces that have my name and address on them, including cataloges. I then stuff the rest of the regular junk mail back into the envelopes they come in and mail it back. Hey it helps keeps the post office in business, don't put stuff in the land fill here, and gives their employees a job going through it, there I have done my duty.
-
I do look at junk mail especially credit card applications. I make sure that I tear up all credit card applications and anything that might have personal information.
-
No, Unless its from a sender I know other then that I just click delete and that's it.
-
I usually look through it briefly
-
I receive so much junk that I just trash everything... but usually I at least look at the titles... the titles often reveal the content (or at least they should).
In my junk mails I did find a couple of treasure (veery few times): one times it contained a link to a very interesting survey, and another couple of times there were some amazon codes... definitely a fantastic surprise :) :glasses-nerdy:

I receive a lot of junk mail. Sometimes I read it and other times I delete it. Most of the junk mail I that read is
about get rich quick scheme or about dating extoic women. I am not interested in any of those email because
for one I am a married and two I will not be buying any equipment to help make any money.
-
No, too many junk mail. Just delete or toss in recycling bin.
-
I rarely ever look at junk mail. I look at who it is from and toss it if it looks like junk.
-
I only look it briefly, if I open all the junk mail than it'll take me a week.
-
I do look through it. Most of the time it is repeated junk. I just clip some of the coupons I sometimes find.
-
I look at all main before disposing of it.
-
Yes. I'm a quick looker and a thrower-awayer.
:fish:
-
Sometimes I do if I suspect it may be something useful to me.
-
Yes, I open all the junk mail because you know what will help you. Mostly receive applications for credit cards
