Title: Putting Songs on Repeat
Post by: kaat1220 on February 12, 2018, 09:16:10 am
Have you ever loved a song so much that you just set it to play over and over and over again?

What is approximately the most times you have played a song?

Right now, the song of choice is the original 1965 version of Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe."

I think it has played about thirty times. My favorite part is the musical section leading up the part when Sonny sings "I got you to hold my hand" and Cher sings her awesome reply. That entire section where they answer each other is awesome although the entire song rocks. Cher's voice has not completely matured, but I love it.

Musically, I prefer Cher back in the 60s and 70s because there was a soulful gypsy quality to her songs.

She looked the most beautiful when she first started, and in the movies, "Suspect" and "Moonstruck" (after the makeover for the opera).

Anyway, this song makes me almost want to cry. We should all play this song at the same time. It is transforming . . .

Any song worth listening to is a good candidate for putting on repeat!   :)

Around Christmas time I play cassettes over and over again - that's the equivalent of putting a playlist of 5 Christmas songs on infinite loop in the digital era.

I was obsessed with Chinese music for a while - search for the YouTube user "lovely chinatown" to listen for free.  I downloaded those music videos from YouTube (you can Google how to download YouTube videos; it's pretty easy).  I replayed my favorite Chinese songs 10-20 times each.  You can even play 2-3 songs at once; try it!  ;D

I am a fan of Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe" as well.  It makes me feel happier.  Another old American song I really like is "Raindrops Falling On My Head" - it would probably lull you to sleep if you replayed it 10 times.

Songs on repeat can become problematic when your local radio stations are all playing the latest hit every five minutes, and it's a song you don't particularly like.  I get annoyed, and wonder why they don't give another artist a chance.  Solution: switch to the Christian rock station.  I have never heard them repeat a song - probably because there are so many good Christian artists out there.

There are a few songs that I have set to repeat. Usually 3 or 4 times is my limit. :)

I have neighbors who have kids who do that. They'll play this rap song about women getting cheated on and how the guy doesn't mind hurting her feelings. It's actually kind of sad.

I use to sleep with my headphones blasting Rob Zombies song " Living Dead Girl" makes me cringe to think how truly loud it was in (wore earplugs) otherwise I'd be deaf now. I blew out 4 pair of thick sony headphones in a year doing that, but man I love that song. I'd kickback in my recliner and just doze off for 6 hours  as it repeated over  a hundred times.

It depends. If I am at home, I may do this 3-4 times. If I am driving a far distance, I may do it 7-8 times.

I think I know what you mean. When people listen to the same old song whenever it plays on the radio or just frequently out loud in front of me, that gets annoying.

I've had songs on repeat so many times it's not even funny.  If I find one I really love I listen over and over until I almost get sick of it or I find a new one lol.  Especially if it's one with a fast/hard beat that I can listen to while at the gym.  Gives me more energy to work out I think.

I don't like to put singles on repeat because then it takes days to get them out of my head afterwards. But sometimes I do put symphonies on repeat. I can listen to Ravel's "Bolero" over and over again, for example, with no bad aftereffects.

I do that a lot with songs that are new to me that I'm just beginning to really like. I can forget I have something playing on repeat all day long until somebody finally complains.
