Title: Cosmopolitan magazine ??
Post by: sbenkoski on March 30, 2018, 07:00:29 am
Walmart has decided to stop selling the magazine Cosmopolitan in its checkout aisles. An anti-pornography group is taking credit for the move, saying that the magazine is “hyper-sexualized and sexually objectifying”.    WOW  ::)  what next, will people have to complain about ?

"Cosmopolitan began as a family magazine, launched in 1886 by Schlicht & Field of New York as The Cosmopolitan"

Do you agree or disagree with Walmart’s decision to remove the magazine from checkout aisles?

I don't understand it,  been years since I have seen it personally, but it was written with women (I would say ages 20-35) as the target audience.    Ok it not a family magazine but I don't think it is pretending to be.  As for  “hyper-sexualized and sexually objectifying”  that I think would be something like the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

When you look at all the other magazines they are selling I am not sure how this one is that much different. I think they should continue to sell it and I am usually a prude.

Back in 1886 that was considered a hot stroke mag and the women on the covers were of questionable character. 140 years later=less clothes and  questionable characters still(all celeb trash)

Cosmopolitan has always been a magazine for the females.  It never presented itself as anything but, and yet Walmart pulled them because they are 'inappropriate?'  People know there is worse stuff on YouTube than ever was printed in there, right?

Im sure Ill see people walking around in less clothing in Walmart than the women on the cover of Cosmo. I'm looking at April's issue now and there isn't even anything inappropriate for kids to see
