Has anyone else heard about this? There's a company that is now producing sliced ketchup (think like sliced cheese) and they are trying to sell them to restaurants to "speed up production". They are allegedly non-GMO and gluten free. Would any of you buy a sliced ketchup? How would we dunk our fries? :(
-
Wow...interesting....not sure I see the benefit of it.
-
The idea behind it is that it is easier to put a slice of ketchup on a burger than to put a little squirt of ketchup and spread it across a bun. They have them packaged one slice in a little packet, so I don't understand how it saves time (they still have to open the packet).

I just heard this on the radio it sounds weird but i would try it
-
I would try it just for the fun of it

Looks nasty !! No thanks, besides i'd miss the noise the squeeze bottles makes.
-
Up next sliced mustard at a restaurant near you :silly: :highfive: 8)
-
Ya, saw that. Looks gross.
-
That sounds kinda gross.
-
Weird idea................ ::) :P
-
Haven’t heard about that. I guess it might work on hamburgers, but not so much on French fries.
-
Haven't heard of it and really not interesting in trying it. Will stick to the squeeze bottle

I heard about that a few days ago.I might try it once out of curiosity, but I don't think I would like it as much.It seems like whatever they used to keep the ketchup solid would affect the taste. As far as the fries go,we wouldn't be able to dunk them.Maybe we could put a slice of the ketchup over the fries and microwave it,hoping the ketchup would melt over the fries.

no

I don't want anyone who cuts the cheese slicing my ketchup.

haha, yeah, that sound is definitely memorable. I hadn't seen the photo before, I saw it in the package, but yeah, that definitely looks gross. I'll think I'll stick to regular ketchup. :)

I heard about it on the radio. I don't understand the allure of the sliced ketchup. Seems like it will just produce more waste....the plastic wrapper around each slice of ketchup.
-
It makes no sense to me!
-
I don't know if i would buy it.I like to feel the ketchup, not bite the slice.
-
wow,,,never heard of this,,,,,, ???
-
It's all fine and good that they say it's GMO free and gluten free, but by no means does that mean it is healthy. And I have the distinct feeling that it would be extremely unhealthy. No shot I would eat it.
-
It doesn't appeal to me, nor does sliced mayo or sliced Buffalo wing sauce, or a slice of wine.
-
I know, I had to announce what I found. Less mess is good. lol
-
Sliced ketchup doesn't even sound appealing. Even if I did like it I don't Think I would bother even trying it. :rainbow: :peace:
-
That would sound more like a innovative dressing for sandwiches rather than a dip.
-
That doesn't sound all that appealing to me. Just do what normal people do, and open the ketchup squirt bottle in a circle so it covers the burger or whatever more evenly and call it a day. That's really all there is to it.
-
After Bing-ing it and watching a kick starter video, I'm willing to try it. Although I don't know how it's going to revolutionize fast food. I can see it being a shelf stable item in food trucks or lunches. I think the idea of other sauces being put in this form for wraps on the go would be interesting for lunchables or armour kits. Teriyaki, bbq. The whole fruit-roll up texture is weird... but I guess until ya try it don't knock it.
-
I think I will stick with squirty ketchup
-
never heard of it...but i dont think i would want to try it..
-
I keep imagining that it looks like sliced beets.
-
I would try it, in fat we maybe already have a some of th3e fast food places. Some of the ones around here are already doing lots to automate, so I could have already had. LOL
-
I'm not really interested in sliced ketchup. I like to control the amount I use on fries etc. So for me this is a waste of time and all the extra plastic is adding to the land fields.
-
I saw something about this the other day, but couldnt figure out by the article I was reading, if it was already being produced, or it was just being thought of, I thought it was quite clever

I was paid to watch a video about this company on another site. The company is marketing this ketchup as no more messy spills from bottled ketchup! I personally would not purchase this after watching the video because it looked highly processed or a piece of red thin plastic. Yuck!

I love ketchup so want to try it.
-
It'll probably be good on a hamburger.
-
what if i do not want a whole slice or what if i want shredded ketchup
-
That is disgusting. I not that fond of ketchup to begin with but think of sliced ketchup makes me want to hurl.
-
Naw, part of the charm of ketchup is pouring, smacking the bottle, getting it where you want it, and gooyness.
Looks icky, I will pass. Thanks
:rose:
-
i don't like ketchup/catsup so I would never buy it.
I just heard yesterday about Heinz making a mix of mayonnaise and ketchup and they are going to call it Mayochup or Ketchonnaise. I might buy that. It's not a dark red. it's about the color of Thousand Island dressing, more like a pink color.
-
This idea sounded interesting until I saw the pictures .. they look gross.
I think I will pass on this one.
-
perhaps a slice of ketchup on your burger ???
-
Odd idea, not sure I would want to try it. I like my ketchup a little less solid than that.
-
Nope not for me, I like to control how much Ketchup I use as I am not a fan of a lot of it. Besides it looks to bad in the picture. Think I will just stay with a little dab.
-
:rose: :rainbow: :rose:I wouldn't think that sliced ketchup would taste that good. Plus I love the runniness of ketchup anyways. The thought seems a bit strange! :-\ :rose: :rainbow: :rose:

That's what I was going to say - wouldn't unwrapping or at least separating the slices take as long or longer than one phhffft of ketchup from a squeeze bottle?
-
There are some things that don't need to be "reinvented."
-
That... definitely sounds weird but I'd try it. Lol. I'm into trying new things
