My sense of taste has changed allot since i quit smoking 5 years ago, stuff like Coconut I used to love I can't even stand the smell now. And stuff i disliked before I now love like Broccoli, and fresh cracked black pepper on stuff, I get black pepper corns by the pound from Amazon and before i never used it and garlic in large amounts too and again i never liked it before. Have your tastes changed over the years ?

Definitely! In fact, I think they have done studies about smoking and aging. Both of these can affect how we perceive the taste of things. My trouble is there are far too many things I like and will eat. One thing has not changed...I've always had a sweet tooth!
-
My tastebuds have changed as well. Foods I used to love I can't eat now and I've discovered new tastes. I am currently addicted to orange juice and oranges. I couldn't stand either when I was younger.

For sure! Although I haven't noticed any changes in taste since quitting smoking 19 years ago, my tastes certainly have changed quite a bit since childhood. I used to feel nauseous when confronted with fish, broccoli, cauliflower and avocado, and now I absolutely love the last three and actually enjoy some types of fish (although not all - still can't stand shrimp and lobster). My husband is the one who gradually eased me into liking all these foods.

I can barely eat sweets anymore. Sad, lol.

I think this happens as you get older too. I loved spicy food and now I really cannot tolerate the taste
-
I have not really noticed any big change in my tastebuds; but I have heard that sometimes with age that can happen, generally the things I did not have a taste for when I was younger I still do not; but who knows in a few more years they might just as a result of the aging process and not being able to tolarate some thins.

You lose taste buds over time, and smoking probably speeds up the process, so foods that use to be too intense when you're younger you like as you age and vice versa where you probably loved sweeter and spicer foodsthen they became too intense as you age
-
I have not noticed this, thankfully.

I have never smoked so I can't say anything as far as that is concerned but I can say that I like a ton more foods now as an adult than I did as a child. Mushrooms, onions, green peppers, cole slaw, chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, asparagus, brussel sprouts, etc, etc, etc...

" Hey bud how you doin ? " " I can't taste your wife !!!" " Bet she wished she couldn't taste us."
-
Definitely! It changes over the year because our hormones change all the time.

I am glad I have taste buds lol.

Yes it has I can equated it with stopping smoking but I did so maybe it was due to that - I used to want everything chocolate and now I like fruit stuff better I still eat and like chocolate ok but not like I used to. I would rather have vanilla cake for instance or fruit flavored candy.
-
Yeah they change, and it can happen in a lot shorter period of time than a year. I had a heart attack at the age of 28, five years ago. I changed my diet dramatically and it didn't take lone until my taste buds change. I actually like the green veggies now and I had a steak a couple of years ago and I hated it.

My son's girlfriend wanted peas one night, and they were in charge of dinner. They got home from the store, and started cooking. My son has hated peas since day 1 of baby food peas. She asked him to cook the peas and tried to convince him his tastes could change. He told her he will never buy, cook, or eat peas. Even for her. I laughed.
-
My husband used to hate salad, but he eats it now. Part of that is knowing he needs to be healthy though.
-
I used to hate coconut and cherry tomatoes. Now I enjoy both.
-
not always...i do eat a couple of more things than i did as a child but not much more..
-
Yes, my taste buds change and sometimes just the food that don't have a taste.
-
They say they do, so far mine are still intact.
-
Yeah I'm trying to quit smoking completely. They definitely change over time!
-
I have never been a smoker but I think over time your taste buds do change. Some foods don't taste the way it use too when you are younger.
