We have a major Hepatitis A outbreak in KY. It has been recommended everyone in our county and two adjoining counties get vaccinated immediately. Our local, popular Texas Roadhouse had an employee work there for three weeks before it was discovered he had Hep A. Roadhouse is paying for the first round of vaccinations for all customers who had eaten there in that time period. There is also a major outbreak in three counties surrounding Louisville. It has caused a major concern for the KY Derby that will be running weekend after next. I got my first shot yesterday. It hurt...

Yes I live in Louisville and didn't go to Thunder this time because of this outbreak and how they said it would be very dangerous to be down there also I saw the the health officials are saying that anyone that works in the restaurant type job needs to get the shot it's kind of a scary situation.

That is really scary.

WOW I didn’t hear about this. Glad you got the shot, hope you and your family, and everyone stays safe.
-
Wow...good luck over there and stay safe. I hope they get it contained quickly!

Oh wow, that's terrible. I work at a place where we have a lot of tourists. I'll definitely be careful. Thanks for the heads-up and I'm glad you're okay.

Ohman, that hurts your liver if you let it. Good luck and geeze I don't want it.

I live in Louisville too and yes it has become a major problem.

The only reason they want people who work in restaurants to get the shot is to protect customers because so many idiots have it and know it and don't care that they can and do infect others.

Hearing this has made me reconsider eating out. People are selfish and stupid. They know they have stuff like this and they do not care. There was a girl who had TB a while back where I live and they had to post a cop outside the hospital door to keep the b*tch contained. She was released once and told she had to stay home and she was out every where. They were telling where she had been and warning people to get tested if they could have come in to contact with her. But when she went to Walmart she could have exposed the entire town. Should have just shot her. lol

I hadn't heard about this! Scary is definitely the right word. Anyone who knowingly exposes anyone to anything is a terrible person.
-
Wow. Even when you want to eat out , you have to think twice. I believe that everyone in a fast food environment should get either tested or given a shot. Or both!

Hep A&B are not as serious as Hep C in which I contracted in 2004. Thank God my doctor here in Oregon is treating me. All the other insurance companies I had would not.
-
I didnt know or hear about the outbreak. I hope you will be okay

We have now learned there were four other restaurants in our area that had Hep A workers: McDonald's, Taco Bell, KFC and Waffle House.
