Why does something that tastes so good in foods have to be so bad for you? I love sugar!!

Same reason our dogs are getting too fat and having cancer more now than ever, and not living past 10 . When i was a kid, dogs never were sick and there was one Vet in our town and one drug store. Now the same town that has not grown that much has 5 Vets and 6 drug stores. Sugar in dry dog food is in insane amounts. I had a order from Amazon using up a gift card and added on a bag of dog snacks that were 2.99 cents , I make 98% of all my dogs snacks but after all the stuff happening from my move, i figured i'd be lazy ..... Ingredient list on snacks.. Chicken, corn syrup, animal fat and so on, the bag of treats went in the trash. Sugar and corn syrup made with GMO corn is killing us and our pets.

I've heard that there are more people addicted to sugar than drugs. I believe it to. So much sugar in pop, specialty coffee shops, smoothie shops, fast food. And our palettes become trained to not like good healthy nutritional food when our brains are constantly triggered to eat more sugar. I'm a professional baker/decorator and am around sweets 100% of the time. When I'm not working with them I'm researching them. Everything in moderation I say - but once a month I can't stop myself from shoving junk in my face.

I love sugar in lots of things, but I agree with sak4kat "Everything in moderation" Just not everyday.

Sugar causes so much havoc on the body, which is unfortunate because it's so yummy

Things that can offset/neutralize sugar levels in the blood:
water
apple cider vinegar
charcoal
green tea
Hope this helps!

The last couple of years I have cut way back on sugar and I feel so much better. I still have some sweet stuff...but in moderation.

I spend more time at the market reading labels for sugar and carb content than I do actually shopping!

I have a big sugar addiction. Thankfully I was able to kick the soda addiction last fall, but I still have trouble with candy :(

Isn't that the way it always is. Fortunately they have given us permission to enjoy a little chocolate now and then. :D

you left out the wonderful act of sweating(nothing like having a sugary drink, going to sleep then waking up sweating) Once June hits I'm done with all processed sugar until mid October.

Sugar, I surely love it but because of it I have diabetes. But it is totally my fault, my fork/spoon didn't make me over weight and have diabetes.

Recently gave the police a lost diabetic kit, wonder how bad the person who has diabetes was being w/o days. Funny how with all the info in it like lot # the pharmacy I went to couldn't trace it to the owner. Hope the person had a back up and didn't drop over

I'm a sugar addict. I've cut back some but I can't give it up completely.

Do not use: Sugar.
Do not use: High fructose corn syrup.
Do not use any other dangerous product.
It is that simple!

:monkey: :) :monkey: If you think about sugar. Sugar is in most foods even if we don't think they didn't add it to the foods we eat. Some foods now say no sugar and some of those foods don't taste that good either. :monkey: :) :monkey:

Sugar does have negative effects on the body and because of that, I try to avoid it when I can. That isn't always easy since sugar is in everything so I watch the increase in everything. Diabetes runs in my family so it can be tricky because my level will go up beyond normal depending on what I eat.

Sugar tastes good, but it doesn't do a body and mind good!

I love sugar also. Probably the reason I am overweight. However, I have given up drinking carbonated beverages and drink only water. I no longer keep chocolate cookies in my house. I must admit I miss those cookies so much. The weight is slowly going down. Makes me wonder if I should eat the cookies in moderation instead of eating some everyday. Really crave them and not happy that my weight is much to slowly going down!

I think if you do it in moderation you shouldn't have a problem. That's true with most things.

sugar is more addictive than heroin, and will kill you in the long run
-
I know sugar is bad for you, but every now and then I have to splurge on something that is so good. I think it you want it really bad you need to have it to satisfy that craving.

Moderation, moderation, moderation.

Since my husband got diagnosed with diabetes, (from exposure to agent orange in Vietnam), he has cut out practically all sugar, and boy, has our diet changed for the better. I always loved sugar, and now that I don't have it available very often, I don't want it like I did. To me, it doesn't make sense to eat something when you know how bad it is for you. Easier said than done, I know! But we are doing it and he's controlling his diabetes without drugs.

But sugar isn't the only thing that isn't good for the body, they just gotta put the blame on something, salt is also good, but bad for you, so they just don't want people to use nothing in their foods to make it taste good, bland is not tasteful. You can use those things, just do it sparingly.

When you are totally addicted to sugar moderation is hard. If you can bust the addiction then it is possible to carefully moderate sugar intake.
-
Brown sugar isn't bad for you. I'm talking about brown sugar cane. The way it comes into this world. Anything that they bleach and turn it white is going to be terrible for us. And I truly believe that the list of health issues caused by sugar is a whole lot longer than they list you gave.
-
I don't think added sugar will destroy as long as you don't eat a lot of it every day lol

Yeah, my daughter and her hubby both "pre-diabetic", as is a very close friend.
I had normal blood sugar when I was tested. Good to hear.
Will try to keep it t the same level.
