Title: School lunch? Does your kid come home everyday eatting?
Post by: Elizabethar on September 29, 2009, 12:13:44 pm
My kids tells me they don't feed them much, or they did not like what they was having.

My child has never eaten school lunch. I remember how nasty it was when I was growing up! I pack his lunch everyday. He may not eat everything I send, but at least I know he has enough and it's healthier than a slab of pizza or soy bean burger. Schools should be ashamed of themselves for charging such high prices for slop.

I send my boy to school with a lunch, he is so picky he wouldn't eat at all there.
He's in Kindergarden and they get snack throughout the day so he eats the same if not more than he would if he was home.

I also remember the food there and like sending him with his lunch.

Oh school food is pretty rough. For lack of a better word I would describe it as "mock food". When I was in school, I never really ate unless I was extremely hungry and even then I would end up getting a bag of chips and soda (not the best lunch I know). I would suggest making lunch for him, or at least give him some healthy snacks to go along with his lunch.

coming from someone who works in a school cafeteria, lunches have changed alot since back in the day.  today the food is really pretty good.  we have chinese food at least once a week and it nutriouslly better for them.  they are only "allowed" french fries one time a week on the main lunch line. We have fresh made salads daily. believe me, it used to pretty nasty.  ive worked in the same cafeteria for 4 years and it has def. got better.  I live in Fl.   I cant speak for other states,or counties, for that matter, but here in Escambia county, Fl its not too bad now, it all changed this year...

These are not the same types of soy burgers like we buy in the store. The soy beans are just used as a filler so there soesn't have to be so much beef in the patty. It's kind of like the difference between Wendy's all white chicken nuggets and Burger King's mystery meat fingers.

Before high school, I only bought lunch at school a handful of times.  Besides the fact that the school food isn't too appetizing in the first place, it's usually overpriced too!  Whenever I bought lunch in high school, it was always because I was too lazy to pack my lunch in the morning, and I had to spend my OWN money on it.
