. . . when it should be called a flutterby? Because that's what they do; right?
I don't see many anymore. I think they are disappearing. :(
:fish:

I hope butterflies do not disappear! I love them too.
Every year I search for monarch caterpillars and hatch them. I love to watch the miracle enfold.
-
Butterflies are so pretty. Haven't seen any lately.
-
I love butterflies. Never really thought about it, but you are right, I haven’t seen many lately.
-
Don't see too many of them. However, I just seen a beautiful blue one yesterday. I do love butterflies.
-
Now that the subject has been brought up I have not seen any this summer either.
-
No I haven't seen too many butterflies or flutterbys lately .... they're always so pretty and delicate looking. :rose: :rose: :rose:

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen many either.

:monkey: :) :monkey: I see a butterfly at least once a week where I live. I guess you have to be in the right place at the right time to see them fly around. If you work mostly in doors the chance's are lower than if ou get outside to see them. :monkey: :) :monkey:

That don't make sense, calling a butterfly a flutterby doesn't sound right.
-
Its not made of Butter either............... :silly:

People use 2 much ROUNDUP that's why Butterflies and Bees are dying off ! >:( >:( >:(

We see lots of butterfly and bees, but we go out of our way to plant plants that they are attracted to. We live in the middle of a big city, so it is not the location. We live across from a VA Hospital where we see coyote running around on the grounds.
The word "buterfleoge" in Old English, which means "butterfly" in our English today. ... One story is that they were named so because it was thought that butterflies, or witches that took on the shape of butterflies, stole milk and butter.

I want to use this in a story now! I love finding out about folklore like this. Thank you. :rose:

I have a lot of plants that attract butterflies in my yard so Im lucky to see quite a few everyday
-
Flutterbys... cute. I see butterflies quite often, but I believe the flowers and plants attract them among with the bees
-
I don't see as many butterflies as I used too.
-
We saw a bunch of butterflies last year. Husband planted a bush that they were drawn too. Although it was only one species. A whitish yellow in color. They were pretty and lush. This year I didn't see nearly as many....we soon found out it was because the bush died. Sigh!

I Love butterflies too! They are so pretty and delicate.
Many people believe butterflies are their deceased loved ones coming to say hello.
my friend thinks of her sister every time sh sees a butterfly! :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

Honestly flutterby makes even less sense to me. But I don't give this sort of thing too much thought. There are names for everything so that we can identify them. This would be an endless conversation if we tried to make sense of all of them.

I love butterflies....in their many different colors, shapes and sizes. I see them occasionally, hopefully I will see more during summer's hot days. :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose:

I was hoping you might give us the answer!

We have a lot of butterflies and hummingbirds during the summer.
-
They sure fly gracefully in the air.
-
I live in Florida and have tons of butterflies. I watch them come and go all day. I don't know if they like my plants or what it is.
-
I don't know why they are called butterfly, but I hope they never disappear. They are so beautiful and graceful.
-
I haven't seen hardly any of these lately. I am beginning to wonder as well
-
They do seem to be appearing less than each year which never makes sense to me considering all the caterpillars around in the spring but maybe birds or something get to them so then never make it to the cocoon stage.
