I understand that Facebook can bring people together, lost friends, close relatives but some people use it to bully and harass. Spread vicious rumors and just Troll. Facebook has ruined marriages big time. It's a good thing that if you choose to, you can hide your friend list from others. When Facebook came about, it was supposed to be for college students but somehow it turned into a worldwide epidemic. Do you think you HAVE to have a facebook account? What do people think of people that don't have an Facebook account?
-
No. I don’t need a Facebook account, but I enjoy keeping in touch with others on the site and app.
-
You do not need facebook, but that is pretty much how I keep up with family and friends.
-
I don’t need it and if it would disappear I would be fine, but I do use it to keep in touch with family and friends out of state and one out of the country.
-
No, not at all.
-
It is my main source of keeping in touch with friends and family
-
I used to have an account, but I deactivated it. I'm SO much happier now. I just couldn't take all the politics and hypocrisy and hate anymore. There are some things I miss about it, like local events, but I don't miss all the people. I can keep in touch with family by phone.
-
I have an account but i just use it for entering sweeps and stuff.
-
Free access to another person's Roladex ain't right.
-
No. I have one that I use to check in on distant family and friends.
About every two-three months. ;D
-
I used to go onto Facebook, but now it's just for these surveys, other than that I don't get on it, people wanting me to friend them, but I don't, it's been like over 8 or 9 years, I don't miss it, too much drama.
-
I have an account, but haven't logged on in MONTHS. I do use it to keep in touch with a couple of international friends, but that's about it.
-
No, you do not need a Facebook account. I don't have one.
-
I don't have a Facebook account and I don't want one.
-
I don't have a Facebook account and I don't want one.
Thanks for making me not feel alone. People make it seem like your an ALIEN from some unknown planet when they can't find you on facebook.
-
Thanks everyone for your answers. Thought I was alone. ;)
-
I use facebook several times a day. I love to connect with friends and family. I also love to play games and read other people's post.
-
I have one to keep in touch with friends in other states, I also play games on there in my free time.
-
I am very seldom on Facebook any more. Too much really stupid stuff on there.
-
I go to FB every day to see my friends and family's posts. I respond sometimes. I post sometimes.
And always try to avoid the bull---- that constantly shows up.
-
I originally used facebook to stay in touch with my family, but recently have found friends who I haven't communicated with for 50 years. So I do use it and like it. But, you have to be VERY careful with what you put in your profile. :-X
-
I only have two people as FB friends, my cousin and best friend, I didnt use my real name, I spelled my last name wrong on purpose. And I only use it to follow some crafting, and dog groups Im interested in, otherwise its like a soap opera that I dont want to be involved in
-
It is a money making business...like any other!

That was smart. Very simple, I like that!
-
The only reason I signed up for a FB account was because that was the only way to sign in to Crowdflower to complete tasks.
Now that Crowdflower has become Figure Eight, apparently you don't have to sign in with FB.
That's one reason why Facebook is not necessary.
Most of my closest friends either do not have accounts or are not active members.
-
I have an account but only check it daily to keep up birthdays of friends and extended family. Once in while I reach out to old classmates but that is about all I use it for
-
Not for me because I don't even use it. Never used it as a matter of fact.
-
I don't need a FB but I like keeping in contact with some. Plus I relax playing the games as well
-
This is the land of the free, so it's your choice if you want a fb acct.
-
I originally got an account to keep up with my niece when she went away to college. 10 years later I still have an account but use it minimally. I know people that live their lives thru facebook ... checking in everywhere they go and putting all their drama out there for the world to see. I personally, do not do any of that. The most I post are pictures of my pets.
-
 :star:  I have a Facebook account that I absolutely love  I have friends that I can see what they have done in their lives without having to be near them. Distance between friends, that face has helped keep in contact with! :star:
-
It seems to be causing all kinds of problems. All ages.
-
I think facebook is really a social tool that seems to be needed today. People just want to network all there business it seems.
-
like most things can be used for good or bad like o keep up with old friends
-
I use it to wish people Happy Birthday and get well wishes for those who have fallen ill.
-
Facebook is just like life, there are good things and there are bad. People think that just because you go online and you are sitting in your house you can shoot your mouth off and get away with it but it doesn't work that way. You have to be a good, decent person no matter what you do.
-
I have had my account since 2009, I was very active for years on it. Now I rarely open use it.
-
I don’t need it and if it would disappear I would be fine, but I do use it to keep in touch with family and friends out of state and one out of the country.
I would miss it, I also keep in touch with family and friends on it. But I also don;t friend every one who asks, I think that is how some people let it get out of control.
-
Yes I use Facebook but I don't get on it every day. I could probably live without it.
-
I don't think having a Facebook account is necessary, in fact I don't use it very much. The only reason I haven't deactivated it is because family and friends I have lost contact with have found me on Facebook.
-
I get tired of dumb posts and pics of what they had for dinner.... ::)
-
It is a good way to keep in touch with others.
-
There are a lot of people who do not have FB accounts. I think we would be better off without it. I do have an account, mostly to keep up with family that is out of state. Some of it's fun, animal videos and such. People do get pretty obnoxious on there. Seems that when people are anonymous they get much nastier than they would in person.
-
I would say Facebook is not necessary as I am not on it and I am doing fine.
-
No, not at all.
I hate Facebook ...
-
i do it lets me keep tabs on my 4 grown children . They are all so busy that i dont get time to se ethem so yes i need one.

Facebook is a good way to keep up with family spread all over the country or even the world. And Messenger is a good way to chat with people you may not want to give your phone number to. No one can bully or harass you on Facebook unless you allow it. They have this handy dandy little feature called BLOCK. Use it!
Facebook has not ruined any marriages. If people are going to cheat on spouses then they will do so whether they have Facebook or not. I know a guy who does not have it at all but he has cheated on his wife. He is a member of dating sites but never been on Facebook. It isn't suppose to be for College students. It is for anyone who chooses to be a member. And it is each person's choice how much info they share on there.
No, I do not HAVE to have a Facebook account. And I don't think anything one way or the other about people if they do or do not have it. I don't really care. I don't put much on mine. I do have one. I have thought about deleting it. Mostly I just keep it for Messenger. I like being able to talk to people like texting and they don't have my phone number.
I have no problem using the "unfollow" to not see posts of people I don't want to unfriend to keep peace in the family. They have no idea you "unfollow" them. And you can set up who sees what you post as well.
-
Necessary, no. Useful in ways, sure. I used to be active there but have probably only logged in a few times in as many years. I have less and less idea of who anyone on my feed is every time I look! :p
-
I love Facebook therefore it's a choice. I guess it's not necessary but I will never get rid of it. lol
-
To each his own, but I have found friends from 50 years ago on facebook. I am very careful with my information, but love that I am able to reach so many lost friends. :)

I love having FB to keep in touch with old and far away friends. But I do not care to hear about people's personal problems. I usually have people send me friend requests that I do not know, and I automatically refuse them. I do check it daily but I do not get caught up in the crazy stuff.
-
I went sixty something years without Facebook, so I guess I don't really need it, but I have certainly enjoyed the way it has brought old friends and family members back into my life. I've connected with people that I haven't heard from in years, and it's a joy to find out what's going on with them and their families. I've gravitated more toward Instagram for every day news, but still check in with Facebook frequently.
-
It really depends on whether you want to connect to people. My father does not have an account because he has no intention of connecting with anyone he doesn't physically see. (This coming from a man who didn't speak to his own mother in years before she passed.). My younger brother can't have one since he's a law enforcement and refuses to put himself in the open to 'crooks'. A lot of his friends that have accounts actually changed their account name so they can't be tracked. Personally, my friends are scattered throughout the country, some even across the world, so the only way I have to connect with them is through Facebook. One childhood best friend I hadn't seen since we were in the fifth grade but she found me on Facebook. So it's it necessary, well, it's not a need just a want.
-
Of course it's not needed. It makes you feel bad about yourself if you do not post things yourself, especially if you don't do as many fun things as others do. So I keep up with family and keep a low profile.
I think it is just dastardly when people use it to bash other people. :o So I delete anything that smacks of judgmentalism.
:fish:
-
I found a couple of people of mine, was able to get in-touch when otherwise no idea how.
-
It is a monopoly...like many other websites.
By the way: You can find photos and articles
not found thru Google.
-
No, it's not necessary but I do enjoy finding old school friends on the site!
-
You don't HAVE to have a computer or a cell phone. So clearly you don't HAVE to have facebook. And a lot of the issues you mentioned, I see as internet issues. Not just facebook issues.
-
Nope I never use Facebook to connect with people. Email and phone calls are enough for me to keep in touch with friends and relatives.
-
Yes, if you want to connect with others that you can't physically see or call.
-
Not really it is just something to have to stay connected with daily.
-
I have a facebook account but could very easily live without it
-
I do but I don't use it very much.
-
What facebook needs is lots of regulation...
-
I don't think Facebook is necessary. I think it is filled with more negativity now than positive. I closed my Facebook account over two years ago and I am glad that I did. I don't miss it. I sit and listen to people complain about Facebook all the time like it is something you have to have.
-
i dont care who is or isnt on facebbok
-
I don't need facebook but it is a nice to have so I can keep in touch with family
-
Not really. I quit using it awhile back.
-
Have it but just use for family & friends contact.

Hello! :D :)
I use facebook for my business it's a good way to share my website posts. Nonetheless, I think it is more than okay not to have an account. I'll try to be more careful while using it. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

I have a Facebook account, but I don't think badly of those that don't have one, because of all the concerns currently floating around about Facebook use. I put very little info about myself or my family on it, but I like to see what old friends are up to, particularly people in the town I grew up in, but left about 50 years ago.
-
I have a FB account under my middle name and have my dog as my side kick, when it was me i had 20 friends ... Turned it over to my dog Bunches she has a collected 1840 friends in less than 6 months ... all dog lovers from across the world. I post nothing about me and its all dog facts , i use it mostly for message system and calling.
-
Unfortunately, it is for me. I have friends and family in different states and I keep in touch with them via Facebook.
-
I would really miss it if it was gone
-
I love using it to wish family and friends happy birthday and check up on fellow zumbaers from the gym.
-
Don't spend a lot of time on it. Just check up on those who are not well and give them well wishes. Just use it for positive feedback, nothing negative.
-
I really don't use Facebook that much. In the past I was on the site for quite some time. Now I am only on there for about 10-15 minutes. I only see post from a couple of friends or family.
-
I refuse to use Facebook. It is destroying the younger generation.
:rose:

I made a post about this on facebook just the other day. People live and breathe for social media. I got a call from someone just this week and left a message asking why I deleted her from FB. Well, it took 2 weeks to notice that I removed her. And I refuse to answer the person back. What did society do before cell phones and social media came out???
-
I do like facebook, but people have just taken it too far. Especially with the facebook live stuff... UGH.
-
I think the people who do not have a Face Book account is the ones who are better off...
-
I don't have to have a facebook account but I enjoy it.
-
Nothing on the internet is really necessary. We've just gotten used to it. I think Facebook is okay, as far as social media platforms go, but it's somewhat outdated now.
-
I have a daughter and 2 grandsons that live up north and Facebook is a good way to keep in contact with them.
-

WHY would anybody do that? lol. I have deleted people from my friend's list. I never had anybody ask me why although they did send another request. haha. smh
-
I only use it to keep in touch with family and friends out of state.
-
For a lot of people It's necessary. They have their home business located on FB. In the past I practically lived on FB, but lately I may access it and then logout after 10 minutes. I am so bored with the site now.
-
Yes and no. It depends how you use it. If you just use it for the social aspect, it isn't "necessary" but more convenient. But a lot of people nowadays use it for marketing purposes which I would argue is necessary. As someone heavily involved in theatre, it makes it SO MUCH easier to spread word of mouth about a performance and generate interest
-
Yes,it is for me because i work at home and this is how i stay in touch with my clients.
-
In the past I thought that facebook would be useful in getting my home business seen-nothing profitable happen. I access the site for about 10 minutes now. I find it boring now.
-
It isn't necessary for all the garbage they put on it. Business wise I can see through it. Friends and family yes. Other than that give someone a call already. Remember most of the friends are not your friends anyway, lol.

Frankly, Facebook is not the problem. It is people who don't use it rationally. It is simply another tool that people have managed to distort and abuse. Some people simply don't have common sense, or in some cases, are really mean- spirited. Is there much that has been created that man has not managed to subvert? I don't think so!
