Do you wait until a spot of mold? I usually go two days then throw it out.
-
When bugs are nesting on it.
-
I eat a leftover as long as it looks good, smells good, and I'm not tired of it. When I cook, which isn't often anymore, I like to make enough to have it at least two more times. I find that anymore than that and I'm just tired of it and throw it out!
-
I'll go up to a few days, then throw them out.
-
usually up to 2-3 days no longer than that. Best thing to do is the first night, divide the leftovers in half, put half in the freezer, the other half in the fridge, less waste
-
I think it depends what it is.Some leftovers last longer and taste much better then others with time.I guess it depends if your fridge is in good working order as well and they are in the right kind of containers.
My wife bought these containers called Lock & Lock on QVC and they are excellent.
-
usually will not eat leftovers if it has been in the refrigerator more than 1 day, but sometimes i may make an exception depending on what food it is.
-
I usually give them a week, but that can change depending on what it is.
-
I am like you catchow. I cook a big entree and then freeze half of it or maybe two and then eat a couple of days on the leftovers. I don't like to keep meals very long. Besides we get tired of it pretty fast. Then other times it is just small meals i cook for a couple of days. But there are just some items you can't make small meals from. But i can make a mean spaghetti sauce but it makes so much i freeze several cartons and then i can cook just a small meal with the sauce at a time. I cook that sauce in a crock pot for at least 8 hours and it makes a gallon and a half. Sure good in the fall.
-
Usually the next day. Sometimes a day after that, depending (pizza, burgers/hot dogs are generally the foods this happens with).
-
I think three days is the longest I went for eating leftovers.
-
Usually about 2 days. If they are in the fridge longer than that it's because we forgot about them, we usually toss them then.
-
If it looks and smells good, we eat it. If we're sick of it, our dog gets it.
-
It depends on what the leftovers are and if it's a favorite of mine. But usually about 3 days.
-
I have kept smoked ribs for a couple of weeks and still enjoyed them. I agree with a previous post that used the touch, smell, taste test.
-
I usually will keep them 3 or 4 days. After that if we have not eaten them I feed it to the fish in our lake.
-
I ate pizza that was 2 weeks old once, little rough chewing but still was good :silly: 8) 8)
-
I will eat it for maybe 2 days, but no later than 3, after that then its throw away time.
-
If its still look good and taste same, i eat it.
-
Would you believe there are people who won't even think about eating leftovers? :silly: I mean, what is better than leftovers when you don't want to cook?
Sometimes food is even better when it becomes leftovers. Chili and spaghetti, for example, get better and better every day.
:fish:

i ate leftovers growing up...not so much anymore...not because i wont..i usually just fix enough for 1 meal and maybe a little extra for hubby to eat later...very limited budget..
-
We are not much of a leftovers eater, generally one day; which is why we cook in smaller portion since it's just the two of us; most times we have very little leftovers to avoid having to throw out so much food.
-
There gone with in a couple of days.
-
I don't like wasting food but I don't like leftovers so I try to make the minimal amount of food when I cook which is rarely. I would never eat left overs beyond one time maybe two if it is chili and I make chili dogs the 3rd time.
-
After three days i throw out leftovers.
-
Depends on the leftovers. I'm usually the one who ends up eating it anyway. The rest of my family will starve rather than touch it.
-
I'll usually keep leftovers for a week. I'll eat it once or twice for lunch, depending on what it is. My husband will do the same If we lose track of when we put it in the refrigerator I usually say "when in doubt throw it out". My father in law kept leftovers much longer and sometimes not even refrigerated. I'd usually go through his refrigerator every few days and throw out some really old stuff but I'd do it on the sly lol
-
Depends on how much I have left. I'd say three days maybe even more sometimes.
-
i love leftovers
-
I don't have leftovers more than 2-3 days in my house because they are gone(we eat them).
-
Two or three days later. :D
-
After two or three days, I'm done with leftovers unless been frozen.
-
i'll eat it asap
-
I usually keep them for a few days, then in the garbage they go.
-
Two or three days max. I don't like older cooked vegetables so just the next day for them.
If things don't get eaten & they are still viable, I'll freeze them... happens around the holidays when there is just too much leftovers to eat. Into the freezer they go.
-
Two day max. If it something that I cannot freeze it get tossed after that
-
I don't eat left overs too much, but I usually throw it away if I don't eat it by the next day. I don't like thanks giving as much as others because the thought of all those left overs for days make me sick.
-
I usually don't eat leftovers.
-
I'm so picky about leftovers. I can only have them the first day after and then I leave it to my husband to eat or throw out haha
-
I usually keep them for 3 or 4 days and throw out what is left. It is just me and my husband here.
-
I generally eat them till they are gone but I try not to cook too much so generally left overs are gone in a couple of days
-
about 2 days but i have a family of 6 inc. me so we try to eat it by then so we do not have to throw it out
-
It depends on what it is.Sometimes i put them in the freezer and eat them later.
-
I think for me it depends on what it is , a pot of chili can be good for many days.
-
Usually around 2 days. 3 at the longest but by day 3 I am usually tired of whatever it is.
-
It depends on what it is. After about three days I will label and freeze it before I get tired. Most times I get back to it before it gets freezer burn.
-
A day or two is my limit.
-
I will keep 3 or 4 days usually, sometimes longer if it looks and smells ok. I also eat for a day or 2 and then freeze the rest in single meal portions. It is a homemade frozen dinner LOL.
-
After food is cooked, it should sit out at room temperature no more than two hours before being refrigerated to slow down bacteria growth. But once stored in the fridge, leftovers should be eaten up within three to four days because bacteria can still grow even at refrigerator temperatures.
-
I will eat leftovers for one day.
-
Because I live alone, and on a very limited budget, I watch what I make and plan ahead.
If I think I can't finish it up in time, half goes in freezer (a little fridge freezer).
I do not want to throw anything away.
:rose:
-
It really depends on what the left over is. As well as where it came from. Most left overs don't stick around at my house. We've all become reliant on eating left overs for next day lunches, snacks and dinners since I generally only make a home family dinner 2 nights a week.
-
I keep leftovers for about and then I throw them away. If it is Soup or Chili, i will freeze it. :)
-
If I have leftovers over a couple days I either freeze it ir put it in soup. OR give it to my husband while I eaat a ligher meal (apple). ;D
-
I don't like leftovers so I might eat them once and that is it. If it is something I cooked I now try to cook smaller than ever portions because while I don't like leftovers I also don't like throwing away food either. If there is left over pizza I heat a piece or two up in the oven once and my son usually eats anything else left.
-
I usually keep them one day.
-
Only two days maybe only one day of leftovers. It really depend on what it is.
-
I've found that a lot of leftovers (at least items that were cooked) last more than two days. I'll eat leftovers unless there is visible mold/rot, it smells funny or it has a bad taste.
-
the next day or at most 2 days
-
not more than 2 days
-
Generally about 3 days, but it depends on what it is. If it looks and smells ok, I give it the extra time.
-
is good to save on leftovers
-
I use for 2-3 days. The top shelf in my fridge accumulates a little ice. I heard it's not good to eat left over rice. Has anyone else heard of this?
-
2 to 3 days is usually my max unless I forget it is in the refrigerator. My mom has a bad habit of keeping leftovers to the point that they are science projects ... lol. That is why I give it a few days and then trash it. If I haven't eaten by then I'm probably not going to.
-
hmm... it is a tricky questions. But I have a simple answer LOL...
I try to taste if it tastes good I eat otherwise I throw them away. Simple.
-
If they still smell good and aren't green or black I eat it.
