Our central air went out today of course on a Sunday. Good news my husband repaired them for a living but the bad news is everyone is closed today to get the part which cost about $16. Called a Service place that is open 24/7 to see if they would sell the part and they will not but will make a service call for $200 plus repair cost. Guess we are waiting until tomorrow when the stores open back up. Box fans and ceiling fans helping but still 84 degrees in the house. We are fine but dogs are not happy.

Its 92 here today and 83 in the house.
Used to it now...my neighbor has air and hardly see him...when he comes outside now he sweats like a hooker in church and turns red...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.... :silly: ;)

It’s 91 outside, but it’s the humidity that’s hard to take.
-
It's 100 here. I can handle heat for the most part but when it gets humid it just drains me.
-
That has unfortunate timing. Hope you get it fixed early tomorrow and that your dogs become happier. Make sure they get plenty of water, especially today.

Ours went out for a little bit yesterday. Got a little stuffy in the house.

I feel for you. Ours goes out always on the wrong Day and it has to be the Hottest Day ever too.
-
It is torture for that to happen and why does it seem always to be on the weekend? I would have to do it either way because I don't have anyone to fix it to save money. Hope you are back in the cool now.

my stuff breaks at night or on weekends , and my new land lord ...; never fixes any thing! Just has her hand out for the rent money!

I can live a day longer if happened to me

Neither my hubby nor I is a fan of air conditioning so we have been sitting in front of fans. The problem for me really isn't the heat. I can stand around 100 degrees OK if there is no humidity. But we are having such terrible humidity in the MidAtlantic and Northeast states, that is what is really causing the terrible discomfort.

my health issues would do me in if mine went out...i used to love hot weather, but with the health issues now..i am so ready for winter

A lot of people do not have ac at all. Growing up we never had it. And the first house I bought didn't have heat or air. I sucked it up.

It's typically about 81 degrees in my house, and that's with the central air blasting. I think something's wrong with it, but I'm too cheap to repair it. Heat, on the other hand, is a necessity for me.

Try to stay cool, go to the Mall or a family house until it cools down. Good Luck!
-
I am glad ours is still working, Can do the heat in the day time just not when we are trying to sleep.
-
And were in a heatwave too. The a/c always breaks down in the summer. Try to stay 8) at library or mall.
-
Oh goodness, OP. I hope you are able to have your AC repaired ASAP. I know the feeling of being in a warm home on a summer day and having ineffective fans (which only circulate the warm air). Popsicles and ice cubes (and an occasional shower) usually do the trick for me.

I haven't had central heating/AC for the last eight years. I recently bought a window unit and I can't put into words how much I love it. It can be hell in the winter though.
