I started going to a personal trainer and we were discussing foods to eat. I told him that I love ranch dressing. He told me that it was not good for us and I should make my own dressing. Does anyone have any good salad dressing recipes that they want to share?

Unfortunately I don't. However years ago there was a product The Pampered Chef made for DIY salad dressing makers. It was a nifty little gadget. I never could justify the cost of all the ingredients needed to go into a healthy home-made dressing. Good thing there are so many alternatives and options in stores. Have you looked into the Simple Truth brand? Lot's and lot's of organic options. Certainly salad dressing should be in there too?

probably because of the mayonnaise in it? I just love that stuff tho. Ranch is like 150 calories for 1 Tb If I remember right
When I was dieting I found a dressing that is fat free, and its so good! Its by Ken's Steak House
Fat Free
Raspberry Pecan Dressing
you get 2 Tbl for 45 calories, thats alot of dressing so I only use 1 Tb
There is no aftertaste or anything, you can put it on salads, chicken, pork if you want something other then bland chicken

In back in the days mayo was good for you geeze now you see the recipes not using mayo in anything besides it is very expensive. I use olive oil and good vinegar but now a days maybe the (extra olive olive mixed with pickle juice) not bad really.

No, I don't have any recipes to share, but sometimes I make some, I guess. It ain't hard. But, it isn't anything like the bottle. How did I do it last time? Ok, start with that and put some twists into it. Develop it more. Do it with intention. You probably don't have to have soybean oil in it, that way, or xantham gum, or whatever.

Couldn't you use plain unflavored yogurt for the mayo in Ranch dressing? I used to make my own dressings all the time except for Marie's Bleu Cheese (how I love that dressing! but it's too expensive now0. I used to make Italian, French, Russian, red wine vinegar and balsamic vinegar. I now use Good Seasons packets for Italian salad dressing now. Nice and fresh, and bottled for the others. I only use a tablespoon of dressing on my salad. :)

Sorry I can’t help you. I never made my own salad dressing.

We're oil and vinegar people. That's what I grew up on and that's what I use to this day.

No I don't

Homemade salad dressing is probably the simplest homemade thing to make, to have a homemade recipe, so if nothing else is a personal home favorite, maybe consider thinking up a SD one. Making stuff at home is not just about saving money and mixing is not always required. Sure, a small spoon jostle might be desired, but it may not be required. Plus, homemade salad dressing should be the least offensive of homemade things. You should be able to eat just about any salad dressing made from home, if made with some reasonable thought, not just mayo blobs or something.

Here is a recipe I found online for you. Remember that you can experiment with this to make it just like you like it. You can add or omit ingredients to suit your taste. Hope you like it. :star:

Just mix a good olive oil with a little balsamic vinegar and shake in some Italian seasonings and you will have yourself a very tasty healthy dressing.

I don't have a specific recipe but I do make my own salad dressing. Olive oil mixed with spices. Basil is a mainstay but I do mix it up. Just play with it and use whatever spices you like.

We use Salsa a lot of times for the dressing.

Never made an salad dressing but my older sisters know how but they are all asian style.

My Italian friend showed me a really good simple healthy dressing. All you need is olive oil (good quality) salt and lemon juice. That's all I use now.

Simple an easy is lemon, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, sea salt and pepper. Done! lol ... all creamy dressings are high in fat and not good for you.
