I still keep them in separate rooms. Old Kitty just isn't going to accept new kitty. Case closed. :'(

On top of cats being in separate rooms. The two cats living in the shed have adopted me. Now I have 4 :cat:

Don’t know how long you have the new one, but don’t give up, they will in time.
-
Hang in there it'll get better each day give them a little busy doing time until they get used to one another it'll work out it just takes time good luck and keep us posted on how things go

YIkes.... I have two dogs and fortunately they get along!
-
Old kitty will get used to young kitty

I have been the owner of multiple cats over the years and when a new cat is brought into the house it sometimes takes a little while but eventually they all establish their boundaries and are able to get along enough to live in the same house.
Usually when I bring a new kitty into the house I have to keep them separated while I am not at home but let them test out the waters when I am here.

Going on 3 months now. Miku pretends to be nice and act like she's going to be good and Pounce! I have to quickly rescue Little Kitty.

I would say, as an experienced cat dad, the case is not closed. I did have a vet once tell me that some cats never get along, and I guess that's true. Caroline, Lucy, and Bandit are my babies. Lucy and Bandit still aren't buddy-buddy, but I now keep them in the same room and they get along when the common denominator is food. Lol. Caroline absolutely HATED Lucy when she first moved in. I had never seen anything like it. I was scared that this was going to be my reality for the next 15 years. They'd literally sit underneath my bed, on opposite sides, and hiss at each other. But after 3 weeks of drama, Caroline decided she wanted Lucy as her best friend and they've been buddies ever since. Lucy even tried to mate with Caroline before she was fixed. LOL.

My cat likes to play fight with our other cat. Sometimes worry they get pretty crazy. One of them waits for me to open the door to make her escape. Try playing with both of them at the same time. Good luck.

They will get along or at least tolerate each other. It may take time, but it usually works. As long as one cat doesn’t spend all her time looking for the other cat it will be ok in time.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Cats have their own way about them and that is part of what I love about them. Bottom line, if they can coexist under the same roof, great.
-
AWE, I hope they soon come around and like each others company. However, I know how cats can be.

Yes, Cats rule

it takes time..soon they will be old friends..

I brought my new cat home just over four years ago and my first cat STILL goes after the new one first chance she gets. They tolerated each other at one point but ever since they heard two cats fighting outside, I can't leave mine alone together! It's odd that my cats reacted aggressively because two other cats were fighting but I've read about other owners who have experienced this too. I have just resigned myself to the idea that my two babies aren't going to be friends, my first cat is just too jealous, possessive and feisty.

I loved this story.!

You will probably have to get them to know each other gradually. Just put them together for small amounts of time and then slowly increase the time.

lol.... is it a play fighting pounce or a serious "i want to kill you" pounce? I've had multiple cats & it seems like it takes some time for them to get used to each other, but eventually they always do get along.... no pouncing though.
Hopefully they can get along shortly, that would be a nightmare if they can't be buddies & snuggle together. I love cats, so cute... all of them.

Cat's are funny - I'm allergic so I avoid them as much as possible. Which is funny that while a teenager shortly after some close members of our family passing away my Mom caved and let me have a kitten from my Uncles farm. We brought him home knowing how allergic I was. He roamed the house and hardly ever came near me. I think he hated my high school boyfriend. I moved out and Mom kept that cat around until he died. One of my dear friends has cats and dogs... 1 time I was sleeping in the basement and a cat jumped up on my head. I bout screamed and was spooked. I didn't realize there was another cat in the house.... she called that one the basement cat.

I'm still trying.

Sometimes the old kitty is jealious of the new kitty or the old kitty is used to being by itself
-
Well, cats don’t like being around other cats they don’t know.
-
give them time cats are very territorial let them be togther and you need to serve as a reffere in some cases but in a few weeks or so they will be okay after that they may swat at each other from time to time as play or if one is female she will want to exercise her dominance as females are the dominant ones in the feline world
-
Always have to have a dominant pet!
-
some times older cats don't care for new ones coming into their space. It will take time for them to get along. Especially if they are both males.
