He was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in Federal Prison. Your thoughts?
-
I think that's good. Just because bill cosby is a celebrity he's just like everyone else
-
You want to play you got to pay. With his health declining he may not even have 10 years left to live. Hopefully he will outlast his sentence and return to his family whom i am sure love and care about his well being. At least he cannot take advantage of anyone else for now.
-
In the end we all stand before God <Jehovah>who is the RIGHTFUL judge of us all.He sees the heart condition of us and there will be a just decision.
King David committed a terrible sin.He committed adultry and to cover it up had the woman husband killed in a battle.God punished him but forgave him because he truly repented.Cosby will be punished for his crime. It is between him and God RE forgiveness.
I write this under the assumption he is guilty. If he wasnt it wouldnt be the first time blind justice happened in this manmade satanic society either.

I don't know if he was or not. First off they don't give you 3-10 years. What is it? 3 years or 10 years? That is a big difference. The one thing I read said he had to report to a something like probation officer once every 3 months. And register as a sex offender. Another site said they were trying to get him on house arrest and then something on yahoo is saying he got 3-10 years. But they do not give you 3-10 years. It is a specific number and you must serve at least a certain amount like 85%.
Personally, I don't care. I am tired of hearing it. I don't believe the women who made the accusations. I don't think it is right or fair that women can all of a sudden come up and say a man done something 40 plus years ago and him go to jail now. It has been 40 years so the statute of limitations is long past. And there is no proof. So it is one word against another. Even if she has pictures she can't PROVE it was not consensual. If she doesn't say anything within a few weeks of when it happens then keep your pie hole shut! These women trying to ruin men's lives eons after something may or may not have happened is ridiculous.

You don't even know he did. There seems to be a lot of this happening lately. Maybe I need to say he assaulted me. I could use some money. The women living in the PLAYBOY MANSION were doing exactly what they wanted to. Nobody forced them to live there and nobody made them do anything. They just see him as a pay check. And that is sad.
-
im not surprised and i think that is a fair judgment.
-
Even with his declining health I am glad he was that used to federal person. He is not above the law :pumpkin: :rainbow: :peace:
-
These celebraties think that they can get away with anything these day. I'm glad he will be in prison serving his time
-
Yes, he was sentenced to 3 to 10 years but how long will he really do time? He was also designated as a sexually violent predator. The designation means that he will be required by law to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and be subject to the most stringent requirements a sex offender can incur.
-
The judgement was given by a jury of his peers. I still trust, somewhat, in juries and they have reviewed evidence that we will most likely never see. It seems rare, in celebrity cases, that the district attorney wins when facing off against high, profile, professional attorneys with long records of success. I would venture that the district attorney's win may have been due to evidence presented rather than having a higher degree of skill than the staff of seasoned, attorneys hired by Bill Cosby. This was one win for one plaintiff in the face of many women that came forward and accused Bill Cosby. Anything longer than three years is most likely a death sentence given his old age. Registering as a sex offender doesn't really register because he is not likely to be out of prison before he dies and will probably not be in public if he does out live his sentence.
-
He probably won't even do 3 years with "good behavior", which seems like a slap on the wrist given the magnitude of the crimes he's been convicted of.
-

My thoughts? Well, that's one...

If Bill Cosby did these thing to these women then he deserves to serve time, however ALL those women?! Come on and not one spoke up? Someone should have spoke up back in the 70s and the 80s. If I'm not mistaken I think someone did, but I'm surprised they took him straight to jail. I think most of these women liked it. They probably wanted him to give them money. I believe it has a lot to do with racism too. :-\ :o
-
Bill Cosby was the speaker at my daughter's college graduation in 2004. It's crazy to think that he was giving advice to young people.

They liked being drugged and raped?? Seriously??

It's about time... So glad to see his money & fame didn't save him from facing the justice that he deserved. I think he deserved more time than what he got.
-
The accusations about him were around for years, but no one really thought about challenging them until Hannibal Buress was saying it in his act (for a long time) and someone thought about filming it. It sort of makes you wonder if someone had latched on to it sooner would more women have come forward earlier and more charges would have been laid.

He will serve 3 or 4 years in a modern prison with all the amenities and when he gets out he will write a book or make a movie about it and be back in the big bucks again so fast it will make your head spin.

lol Which is what? A couple years? He is 81 and suppose to be in poor health. They also say he is blind but he can see what is going on in the court room and can walk unassisted or without a cane. Somebody doesn't know what BLIND means.
-
I really think the time inbetween was way to long, and hes blind

The jury is biased. In every case. They pick the jury based on questions they ask them and they ask them questions to get the answers that will give them the verdict they want.
In order words say somebody is on trial for murder and they are seeking the death penalty. They want people on the jury who will give the death penalty and are against gun ownership. They kick people out who will not give them the outcome they want.

They were not raped. They had sex with him. Several were paid. They were not doing anything they did not want to do. There is no way that THAT may women were raped and NONE of them would come forward. They lived in the play boy mansion and they had sex for money. They used him to further their career. They are washed up and don't have a career any longer so they said hey here is a way to get some moolah.

He is not blind. He can see what is going on in the court room and he can walk unassisted and doesn't use a cane.
And being blind doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is how many eons of years ago this was. This is getting ridiculous. People can come up and accuse somebody of something that happened 40 plus years ago and there is no proof whatsoever and the person being accused is going to jail. That is wrong. And NO I do not believe every accusation that people make. Yes, there are women who are raped or assaulted but a LOT of women also LIE.

I doubt it. He is 81 and supposed to be in declining health. He has not done anything in years. He is blind. Remember? He can't see to write a book. SMH. I also know 2 people who claim to be legally blind and both drive a car. So maybe they have changed the meaning of the word blind. Idk.

Wow, you know everything about everything don't you.
Blind does not have to mean "completely without sight." Speak to an optometrist and they can explain to you that you can be legally blind having vision impairments such as depth perception or other injuries or conditions. Here is a definition to help you out.
Legal blindness is a level of vision loss that has been legally defined to determine eligibility for benefits. In the United States, this refers to a medically diagnosed central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with the best possible correction, and/or a visual field of 20 degrees or less.

What happens in the night or dark, must comr to light, as my mother always says...
-
I agree with Countrygirl, these women got what they wanted out of Bill Cosby. They wanted to get into show business so they did what women do to get what they want. I think if it was so bad and back in the day when black men would be hung for just looking at a white women so no I just don't think it is fair.

he'll do it again
-
I wonder if there will be an appeal and he gets to serve in a prison similar to Martha Stewart.
-
I think at his age, he would have best been sent home to do his time with an ankle monitor and have to pay huge fines & continue to pay them yearly for all the money he cost the taxpayers. He would then not be a burden to the tax payers keeping him in jail, & having to take care of his medical costs... he's blind & 81 full of ailments.... let him stay at home, pay fines, pay for his own food, pay his own medical costs, pay for the drain on the American taxpayer for having to take him to court & monitor him. The women can still sue him in civil court & get justice. He is worth like $450 million dollars, he should have to reimburse everyone for everything.

LOL. Well do you feel better. You have attacked me on two threads now. haha.
I stand behind what I said. If you are BLIND you do not need to be driving a 3-4 ton missile down the road.
He also won't write a book and chances are he will never serve a day in jail. You act like I am personally responsible for the outcome of the trial.

How did he cost the tax payers anything? I am sure he paid for his own lawyers during this court trial.
I think I am going to make a list and sue everybody who has ever "wronged" me. smh. You can bet if he was ordered to pay millions to women who SAID he done something to them there will be a lot more come forward with accusations. I am also curious as to how throwing money at it is going to make them feel better. That tells me that it is all about money anyway.
-
Good but too little too late in my opinion. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever and I was glad to hear the judge wasn't hearing him staying home while he waited on a new trial. He is going into a brand new prison but at least he won't be free.
-
its about time !!! this has taken forever. he got less time then I would have liked. but he will probably not serve much time in jail. they will let him out

He cost the taxpayers for all the court costs, the prosecution, extra security, etc... who do you think pays for all that... the US taxpayers. Cosby actually was fined $25,000 plus the cost of his prosecution as part of his guilty verdict/sentencing. So he will be paying for it all which is fair.
This criminal trial isn't going to order him to pay anyone - that would be separate court proceedings, civil court. People have the right to sue in Civil court for damages, it is just how the law & courts go. Just like OJ Simpson was found not guilty; but the Goldman family sued civilly & still won $20 million settlement from OJ.
Crosby was found guilty, those women all have just cause to take him to court & win civil damages. Which they probably would do because people want money.
You are welcome to attempt to sue anyone that has "wronged" you, you just have to present your case in court. That is why we have all those crazy lawsuits that clog up our courts.
-
Those women probably flirted with him because he was Bill Cosby. Not saying he did nothing wrong but sometimes women can be flirtatious, and tease. He is getting time for one women. The others,...I don't think so.
-
It certainly is justification for the women that accused him of sexual assault. I just think in the wake of the #MeToo movement it seems everyone is coming out of the woodwork and I wonder really how damaged these women were after the event. I really think there should be a cap of at least 10yrs. If you can't find the courage in a decade to come out with the assault, whether anyone believes you or not, then you shouldn't bother to come out at all. It's just hard to get behind someone who comes out decades later when their attacker is either now currently famous or up for a huge public office.

It is sad that they are doing this. Like I said before, I do not believe he done anything TO them. WITH them yeah he probably did. But I do not believe he raped them. If he was raping them why did they continue to live in the PLAYBOY MANSION and continue to stay around him? They were having sex with him. They were trying to further their career.
I have never really liked him but I actually feel sorry for him. The people in prison who are being mean to him have no right to do that. They are in jail too. They done something to get there. If this was not allegations from 20, 30, or 40 years ago then maybe I would believe it. It is just like the other cases like this where ignorant women come up and say some guy done something decades ago. IF it happened decades ago then they should have said something then. IF you don't say anything for half a century then leave it in the past.
I honestly do not think Cosby will live all that much longer. I think this may be enough to kill him. I think a lot of people are jealous of him and his money and they want to take it away from him, his wife, his kids, and grandchildren. People are vindictive and evil.
The really really sad part is if he died tonight from a heart attack and it was ruled it was caused by mental anguish there are people who would rejoice in his death. Even people on THIS thread who claim to care so much about people. And the fact is NOBODY on here or any where else knows the truth. ONLY the people involved and God. Everybody else is just taking a side and choosing whom they want to believe.
-
don't really know what to say since I haven't been following closely....he's so old anyway he might not even outlive the sentence
-
I haven't followed that closely to know if I believe ALL of the accusations however if he's guilty I'm glad to see that he's not above the law just because he's a celebrity and also considering his age. Who knows if he has ten years left on his life. I bet he is awfully surprised now.
-

Of course there will be an appeal. And right now he is in a regular prison with regular thugs. It amazes me how the people he is in jail with think they are better than he is. They are there for a reason as well.
-
Those women probably flirted with him because he was Bill Cosby. Not saying he did nothing wrong but sometimes women can be flirtatious, and tease. He is getting time for one women. The others,...I don't think so.

But a "tease" deserves whatever happens to them.

There should be a cap of about 30 days. You should not be able to come up and say somebody done something 10 years ago. Until recently it was 1 year. The statute of limitations was ONE YEAR. I doubt very seriously these women were damaged at all. In the case of Bill Cosby they are after money. Nothing more.
In the case of the Kavanaugh it is the dumos way of trying to prevent a Conservative from being on the Supreme Court. She is being paid to do this. Believe it or don't. It is hilarious that none of her witnesses are going with her story or even know what she is talking about.
This movement that is sweeping the country is completely foolish. And you will see it happen more and more. You better hope you have never made anybody mad because apparently they can come back 30,40, 50 years later and say you done something and get you in trouble.

My Mom used to tell us. "If you do the crime, you do the time. We won't bail you out. If you didn't do the crime, then we'll bail you out."

ridiculous and long overdue... money talks apparently...
-
:bunny: :cat: :dog: I think that they shouldn't of even tried to punish a man from that long ago to began with. Who knows if he even did this. Kinda crazy the crimes that happen these days. :bunny: :cat: :dog:

A person who has been drugged cannot give consent. If you have sex with a person you have drugged into compliance, that is, by definition, rape.
He has been tried and convicted in a court of law as a serial rapist.
Whatever your opinion, facts are facts.

- Bill Cosby’s 2005 admission that he drugged women to have sex with them was the most compelling piece of evidence leading a Pennsylvania jury to finding him guilty of sexual assault, one of the jurors told ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Monday.
Paints..makes your post look stronger.
Some just have a hard time feeling...if they dont put in an honest day of hard work in they are scammers. That in itself is true sometimes. But there are victims and some that are disabled and poor.
We reap what we sow.
We think we are standing and can still fall.

The lady should have came forward when it happened. Why wait so many years later. I agree, no one is above the law. He could have been put on house arrest.

It breaks my heart and sickens me. He was such a roll model, but lived a double life.

He's old and in bad health and will probably get a home sentence.

There is no way that THAT may women were raped and NONE of them would come forward. They lived in the play boy mansion and they had sex for money. They used him to further their career. They are washed up and don't have a career any longer so they said hey here is a way to get some moolah.
Yes, dear , they were raped. Drugging a woman so you can have sex with her without her consent is rape.
The only person to blame for rape is the rapist.
I am not your dear. And NO they were not raped. They went there willingly and they had sex willingly. They wanted to further their career. They just want money from him now.
And I am not a fool.
A person who has been drugged cannot give consent. If you have sex with a person you have drugged into compliance, that is, by definition, rape.
He has been tried and convicted in a court of law as a serial rapist.
Whatever your opinion, facts are facts.
I did not say you were a fool. And just because he was convicted in court does not mean it is facts. And what you say is the same as you say with me....it is YOUR OPINION. Nothing more.
There was a man a few years ago that spent 20 years in prison for raping his 2 children. TWENTY YEARS. They finally came forward and admitted they LIED. They were coerced into saying he raped them by the mother and the arresting officer. The girl said she finally said yes because the officer promised her ice cream and she wanted him to stop asking her questions. He was innocent. He was telling the truth when he said he done nothing to either of them. His wife wanted rid of him and I guess murder was a farther stretch than she wanted to go.
Just because you are convicted in a court of law doesn't mean you are guilty. And these women knew exactly what they were doing. They wanted to further their career. That means having sex with the men who can help them with that. They done what they wanted to do. You can believe what you want to. I and others who disagree can believe what we want to. IF they were raped why did they not say something 20 or 30 years ago. Why did they stay there at the mansion with him after being raped the first time? Oh because it was sex not rape. And they wanted to get farther down the road in being an actress.

He's old and in bad health and will probably get a home sentence.
He is in a prison right now. Not at home. Honestly, I do not think he will live very long in these conditions. And as I said earlier, I think it is really sad that if he died people would celebrate his death. Those people are no better than he is.

Justice has finally been dispensed. I have very mixed feelings. On the one hand a "sexually violent predator" is off the streets. On the other hand, that predator is Bill Cosby, touted as America's Dad. Oh well, you reap what you sow. Try not to drop the soap, Bill.
-
He just got a slap on the hand!
-
About time tbh.

Personally, I don't believe a word those women said. A man invites you to his Hotel room and you go alone? How stupid can you be? They knew what they were doing. They should brought a friend or someone else with them.

Maybe Cosby didnt like 3 -somes!

The statute of limitations should be kept or not kept, not always being changed for sex crimes , and being given special "extra time" for people to come forward. But a Fed Prison is not like a real prison, he's at a very nice white collar boot camp i'm sure.
-
He is not the only one that needs to time for sexual harassment, just because you are a well known actor doesn't give you the right to put your hands on a female and drug them, he is a pervert.

Also him having big bucks hes gonna have the best of the best.I wouldnt be surprised if one of the guards snuck a woman in 1 day with some qualudes and made him feel right at home.Drugs runs rampant in jails and we all know there are many sexual encounters.Question is is he up to it at his age.
-
Everyone that's guilty should pay for the crime regardless of the age or social status. The law is for the lawless.

He isn't right now. Right now he is in a county jail. Unless he has been moved. And when he is moved I am sure we will all know because for some reason the entire world needs to know everything celebrities do. lol

I'm torn about him being sentenced to jail. This means I as a taxpayer have to pay for his food, clothing, healthcare, housing, etc. for the time he is in jail and I certainly don't want to do that. Plus the chances of his ever doing this stuff again are non-existent. I would much rather see him "committed" to doing public service projects to help his neighbors or to donating large sums to women's issues organizations.

Do you live in the same town as him or where he will be in jail? If not then you the tax payer won't be funding his stay in jail. I doubt he could do too much public service. He is 81, can barely walk, and is suppose to be blind.
I do not agree with him having to pay large sums of money to women's issues. It seems like if you have money there are people lined up waiting to take it from you. And if he is in jail, he has money, so he will pay for his own upkeep. Inmates are charged a fee for each day they are in jail. At least in county jails. They usually never pay though. I don't know if it is the same with long stays or people in the pen.

Glad they proved that one is above the law no matter how well known or how much money you have.

I feel bad for him at least his wife is by his bed side

Yeah,i heard he sleeps with the bankbook.

No clue. Who knows the real truth?

No clue. Who knows the real truth?
We have been asking that question since JFK assassination
-
is crazy he is not guilty they just wanted him to get rich and take what he has

If Bill Cosby did these thing to these women then he deserves to serve time, however ALL those women?! Come on and not one spoke up? Someone should have spoke up back in the 70s and the 80s. If I'm not mistaken I think someone did, but I'm surprised they took him straight to jail. I think most of these women liked it. They probably wanted him to give them money. I believe it has a lot to do with racism too. :-\ :o

At least one good thing has come out of all this. Women are seeing who can be counted on for help when/if they are assaulted or raped.

We need to be protected from this kinds.....burgerman.

I heard about Bill Cosby years ago, and how the people on his show etc covered for him.
No one wanted to pursue charges, as he was "America's Dad", and it would appear "racist".
So he continued to drug, abuse, rape women. People chose to not believe it, as we expect these "stars" to be the same in real life as on TV or in the movies.
There are sexual preditors in all races, religions, levels of wealth.
Fans need to not cross over to exulting them above what they are in real life.
