So we're getting our 4th version of hollywood tearjerker A Star Is Born, this time with Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga. They seem to remake it every 20 years. (although this time they waited 40) One thing all 4 versions have in common? I've never seen any of them. ;D
But basically the story is about a washed up star on his way down, who helps an emerging starlet rise to fame. They get married, but they have problems when she gets more popular than he is.

I'm looking forward to it!! I'm not even really a fan of Lady Gaga ... but I dunno, seeing her de-glammed for the role makes me excited. I think it's gonna be a good movie, though I've been told I have weird taste in cinema so don't take my word for it. ;)

it sounds like it has a good storyline. I like heartfelt movies like this. Always a happy ending :)
-
Looks like a movie made to star a singer like Lady Gaga.
-
I've never seen any of them either but I have seen the reviews and I think this might be a good one to see I like Lady Gaga I think she's good and everything she does and Bradley Cooper is really good on the eyes so I may just see this one

I'm looking forward to seeing how Bradley Cooper did on his directorial debut. Bradley Cooper began planning his vision for this film while working as a producer on American Sniper (2014), which was directed by Clint Eastwood. After Cooper and Lady Gaga performed a screentest together, Warner Brothers executives were impressed with their on-screen chemistry and greenlit the project. For his role as Jackson Maine, Bradley Cooper was taught to play guitar by Lukas Nelson, son of Willie Nelson. The pair hung out in Cooper's basement almost every night for a year so that Cooper could learn how to perform and present himself like a musician. Cooper is backed by Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real for his stage performances.

So very excited to see this remake!

I'm planning to watch it... not at a theater, but when it comes on cable.
I'm not excited about it or anything, just would be a movie I would watch. I like Lady Gaga- even though she is a spirit cooker, & think she has a pretty good voice.

To me nothing is ever as good as the original. However, I am looking forward to seeing it :sad1:

I saw the Judy Garland one and Kris Kristofferson/Barbara Streisand one. I didn't see the third one. I really get tired of remakes. Seems like Hollywood is running out of story lines and all thei can do is remake remakes. :)

Yep, I saw the Judy Garland one as well as the Streisand one. It's been a long time since I saw either so I might be going to see this one at the cinema. We'll see...I'm not absolutely sure. However, I want to see the one they are making about Freddy Mercury because I thought he was a great showman and singer and kind of want to remember that era again.

Interestingly I have never seen any of the 4 versions and probably won't see this one.
-
I saw an article on that yesterday. I'm not much of a fan of Lady Gaga. I really didn't care much for the first two (didn't see the third) so I'm sure I won't see this version.

After seeing interviews done with Sam Elliott and another with Lady Gaga I want to see this version of A Star is Born. My understanding is that it is not quite like a remake of the previous versions of the same name. But no matter, when there is good chemistry, authentic singing and that feeling of camaraderie among the cast that transfers to the audience it is a rare thing.

I heard a radio review of it today. The reviewer said that the most surprising part to it was how WELL Gaga can act and how well Cooper can sing.
-
I have not seen any of the others but have seen previews of this version and it looks pretty good. Will have to watch it when it comes out.
-
I saw this movie over the weekend and I really enjoyed it.
-
I watched the Trailer and saw an interview on late night talk, but unfortunately I don't attend R rated movies, so this one is off my list. That's too bad, because it looked good. Maybe when it hits TV they will clean it up a little.
-
Planning to watch it with fam and it does looks great on the trailers.
-
The reviews seem to be good, I might be tempted to see it; Lady Gaga has a large fan base, though I am not one of them so it may do well.
-
When I saw the trailer for the one with Lady Gaga and Bradly Cooper, I decided to check out the version with Barbara Streisands. It took me about a week to finish the movie. The story was ok, but I think I will wait for the new one to come out on DVD.
-
Heard of it and know people who saw it but probably won't go myself

would like to see it but will wait for it to come to redbox. I think lady gaga is the perfect choice for this, she can really sing.
-
I have not seen it and don't plan to. Really don't have any interest in Lady gaga.
-
i too havent seen any of these or knew there was four remakes. thanks for the quick story recap.
-
I've seen the 1930s version with Janet Gaynor and the 1950s version with Judy Garland. Never saw Barbra's version. I might watch the new one when it comes out on disc. The first time I saw the trailer, I didn't realize that was Lady Gaga. I had never seen her before without tons of makeup on wearing some crazy looking outfit.

Enjoy!
-
Highly enjoyed this one.
-
I want to see it cuz I want to see Lady Gaga's acting ability's like.
-
I never saw the original, but this one looks good, I will wait till it comes out on HBO to watch it, I dont do theaters
-
Me either, I just don't seem to understand the motives in the movie, it just seems to be a boring movie.
-
I wanna see this so bad.
