Post by: melodylogan45 on November 07, 2018, 04:07:49 am
I have been losing my hair for awhile and I wear wigs and hats for individuals who have hair issues. It bothered me a lot when I started to realize that it was coming out, but I am
Use to it now. I wash and condition my hair on  the weekend and go about my week.

Have you tried to talk to your doctor about it? I take Biotin, Vitamin D and hair and nail vitamins. I have always had fine hair but I notice that when I am super stressed my hair falls out too. I am sorry you have to deal with that.

My hair was coming out really bad so I had some blood work done and it turns out my iron was really low. They put me on a iron pill and it has gotten a lot better.

You should try the over the counter product called biotin. It helps hair and nails grow and stay healthy.

This is definitely different for guys.  I have grey hair showing up in my facial hair and a couple popping up on my head.  I'm thinning pretty good up top.  Is what it is.  I'm not going to let it bother me.

one of the symptoms of Lupus is losing your hair and I have recently noticed I have a pretty good size bald spot on the top of my head I have bought a couple of wigs but have not yet worn them I keep thinking I can just put my hair in different styles and cover up the bald spot until I absolutely have to wear that wig

Sorry to hear that.  I don't have a problem with my hair but nails are so bad so I take Biotin for Hair, skin and nails and they are not as brittle as they were in the past.

Have you consulted your doctor to determine why you are experiencing hair loss? Perhaps it may be something genetic like alopecia?

I was, and still am, losing my hair. It started about 10 years ago and I didn't know what to do. My hair dresser said if my parents had thinning hair, welcome to the club. Well, my dad lost his hair when stationed in New Guinea during WWII. They  would have to get their head shaved every so often because of lice over there.  My mom lost a lot of her hair when she worked at a shoe factory. The cause was supposedly leather dust. What's my excuse? I have none.  I'm so bummed because my hair was my greatest asset. Same with mom.

Anyway, I developed a lump on the side of my neck so I went to the ENT I worked for and it was a cyst but it was't the cause. Then when I had radiation treatments, I really lost a lot of hair. (I call it male pattern baldness.) My doc sent me to another ENT because the first one died of brain tumor, and i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's disease, and something else. Hair loss is a symptom of hypothyroidism. He couldn't decide the true problem. He put me on Levothyroxine and I thought things would get better. It didn't. I started taking Hair, Skin and Nail vitamins because of problems with all 3 but they didn't help either. So I'm resigned to it now. Got my hair cut real short (not my idea) but it just made it worse.  I have 2 wigs, one with too much hair and the other too small so I can't wear any. Had a 3rd one but it was too big! I'm in-between a petite and an average size.  Mom had a couple nice wigs but when she died, I gave them to the American Cancer Society. Kick myself now.

Oh, I know. Yakking too much.  Anyway, get your thyroid checked, too. That might be the problem. Today, my hair faills out a little slower but it still falls out.  My next stop is the local "hair consultant"  to see if there's anything I can do.

Every-time I go ill, my hair takes the blunt.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have seen a doctor and been taking biotin, which helps, but I do not think I can apply heat to my hair. It is growing slowly, but I notice it still comes out, especially when combing and washing my hair. I am currently taking vitamin D as well. Thanks again.

:turkey:   :snowman:   :turkey:  That's sad. They make vitamins for hair over the counter at places like Target, Walmart, Dollar Stores. Might help with hair loss. There's a lot of methods online that helps too.  :turkey:   :snowman:   :turkey:

I have been losing a lot of hair also.  I got cellulitis a few years ago and it was a pretty bad case of it.  I was on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks, in the hospital for 3.  I lost handfuls of hair after that.  My SIL told me about something her husband used when he had the same problem after having flesh eating disease.  Nioxin.  It did help slow it down considerably.  I've had cellulitis twice since the initial one and each time my hair falls out.  The Nioxin wasn't working so well anymore so I switched to something else.  Now I'm using a seaweed shampoo and it seems to be helping some.  I also take black current seed oil with fish oil, biotin, vit e, vit d and still I have trouble with my hair falling out.  Very frustrating and discouraging.  My hair is half or less than what it used to be.
