I just want to ask because the mattress I still have now is getting worn out (I’ve had it for about fourteen years now.).
-
I wouldn't wait that long to replace a mattress, after a while it will start losing its shape, and comfort feel.

lol Yeah I have had mine for close to 20. It needs to be replaced but I cannot afford to purchase one right now.
-
I have had my Mattress for about 18 years now. I am actually looking around right now for a new one. I have a California King size Bed and it is hard to find the kind of Mattress that I need.
-
A lot depends on the type of mattress
-
Ours is about 15 years old. We are starting to look to replace it.
-
I have had my mattress since the early days of my self employed years which would make the mattress about thirty years old. I had several, top of the line mattresses used for staging a very large home that I was selling and ended up moving them into my private residence after the home sold. The mattresses are California King size. I flip the mattresses every six months, have no sagging and see no need to replace them as they are as comfortable as the day I purchased them. I generally only sleep for five to six hours at a time on these mattresses so the wear and tear is probably considerably less than most beds and lends to a longer life. I replace my kid's mattresses every four years and have yet to change the mattresses in our guest room (also from the staging about thirty years ago).
-
I change it about every 8 years.
-
I have had my mattress for 26 years, my car has 211,000 miles on it and try to earn every cent I can on these sites. You can probably say I am a little frugal :)
-
I think our last bed was 22 years old. We finally bought a new one in 2018. I didn't really think it was worn out, but my husband did.
-
never use a couch and comforter and thats it
-
I hope mine lasts 10 years, am a bit ruff on them.
-
I have had my mattress for a number of years. My mattress was expensive. It's still firm because I decided to buy a mattress that would last for a number of years.
-
Depends on the mattress I guess, cheaper mattresses give out sooner.
-
We need a mattress so bad but have not been able to afford one, Ours is over 15 years old
-
Our king size waterbed is over 40 years old and still doing fine.
-
Not very often in years past because we were always short on cash over most of our marriage and now I am older and I can afford to get a mattress when I need one but I still would wait until it had a dent in it lol and I was afraid of rolling out at night.
-
I have had the same one for 20 years now. Mine is still fine. I guess it depends how durable it is.
-
I rather replace my old mattress to my new mattress because all matches could get messy and dirty and ripped up and stink and give the new one at they charge more money and stuff but I rather go buy a new one
-
I haven't ever replaced one for any other reason that to get a better one. That could be that mine has worn out or because with the older I get the more I value quality sleep, so I might upgrade.
-
My mattress was given to me used, so I am not sure how old it is. I have had it for 4 1/2 years and I am ready to let it go. It is not comfortable to sleep on anymore.
-
Replaced after 18 years because my daughter insisted I needed to although I didn't feel it needed it. Was still pretty firm. Not worn out. She seemed to think it was too old though.
-
Not often enough!
-
Flipping it periodically helps with sleep, I'm going to treat myself to a luxury mattress this year, my body needs and deserves some quality sleep.
-
I do not know when was the last time I replaced my mattress. It hasn't given me any physical problems, so I do not see the need. But if I was forced to, I would probably replace it every 10 years.
-
My guess is about every 6 years or so... or until you start waking up with aches and pains!
-
I've had mine for 8 years-ish. It still feels very comfortable so I'm in no hurry to get a replacement.
-
i have had mine for about 15 years
-
I forget how old mine even is, but way older than the recommended 8 years. My back feels okay and they're so expensive... I don't see the point in replacing it just because.
-
I would say 9-12 years before I swap it out with a new one during those years I just flip my mattress.
-
I am not sure, but I guess 15 years and I am ready to buy a new one. Back beginning to hurt.
-
I just replaced mine. It was 17 years old. I hear that you need to replace after 8 years old.
Got mattress from American Mattress Man!
-
When someone gives me a new one. Other than that, we can't afford a new mattress. They're too expensive.
-
We change ours every 7-8 years. We have a Saatva now and love it. It is the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on.
-
About every 7 years. I'm about to replace mine.
-
I purchased a very good mattress years ago so that I would not have to replace it every 2 years or more. It's still in good shape.
-
We had to replace our mattress cause we couldn't rid of baby's pee smell out of our mattress. If not that case I would never replace it. Didn't want to waste my money. I made a study before we bought the best futon mattress (https://www.bestfutonmattresstoday.com/) (I used this site) from Amazon.
-
So long as you flip it and turn it it should last many years. ours was maybe 15 years before we bought another
-
I say after ten years, change it but honestly, when your back, sides, neck start to hurt every morning then change it. I flipped the mattress every time I changed the sheets but when I woke up each day with back pain, that mattress had to go. So, when your body tells you it's time, it's time. Until then, just flip the mattress when the sheets are changed.
-
Every 8 years, replace it! I such replace mine in December!

If they weren't expensive I would replace it yearly or 2. I have never saved up for one before hand but will do this.
-
I just bought a new mattress. The one I had before was given to me and I had it for almost five years. I think they say you should replace your mattress every eight years, but there are many people who keep them for much longer. I plan to keep mine for about ten years.
-
I flip my mattress every month, which I think helps it to last longer.
-
One could definitely last long if you take good care of it just keep the sheets and blankets clean and don't wear and tear on it too much but i'm sure it feels good to get a new one after a while so probably just when doing some renovating you might want to get a new one while you're at it 8)
-
I have had my mattress for about 4 years now, it is comfortable.
-
Hard to say. I would say about 10 to 15 years or so.
-
TOO long. We can't afford a new one now either. But I have heard there are places that redo mattresses. Anyone else heard of these???
-
We bought a new mattress last year. We had the one before that for many years.
-
Our mattress is 10 years sill its on best form king size.
-
i wait until it starts to fall apart but that is just me
-
:clover: :peace: :clover: I tend to change my mattress when it gets a bit worn out. They say that on television to change your mattress every eight years. With my life changes I tend too. :clover: :peace:

From others' comments, I see that this is mostly personal preference and mattress dependent. I personally have only had my mattress for a few years but I know people who have only purchased a new one for themselves after back problems started to arise.
-
I'm glad I read this. Mine was 20 but still in good shape. I thought that was a long time to keep one.
-
I haven't replace my mattress for about 10 yrs & it's fall apart but can't afford it now.
-
Less often than what is recommended.
-
I'm also among those in need of a mattress. I would like to replace it every 10 years... it seems I've been living a nomadic life for so long I don't even technically own a mattress. After the most recent move I've made I'm considering getting a daybed for my daughter..and a trundle...that will lead to the purchase of at least 1 new mattress.
-
Purchased new mattress 3 years ago but signs of a needing a mattress is no comfort, noisy, and worn.
-
Every two to three years anything longer the mattress starts to break down slowly and increases til its really not comfy anymore
-
We have our king size mattress for about 7-8 years and it's still in very good condition, but we kept it in a protector cover. Also couple of months ago we ordered a new mattress protector cover and a mattress topper from this shop - https://chaba.com.au (https://chaba.com.au)
-
I would say every 5-7 years or whenever it feels like you need to. Like when it starts to creak, tearing of the mattress etc.
-
replace mine about every 7-10 years, or when I actually have the money to purchase one.
-
Ours is 11 years and still in decent shape so hoping it will last a couple of more years. But they recommend 7 to 10 years to get the best sleep but I think it depends on you
