Went to see Aladdin with the family the other night. They changed some things in the last act from the original, but beyond that, It was actually pretty good. Will Smith put his own spin on the Genie. He had big shoes to fill following Robin Williams in the role, but he gave a really good performance.

I'm looking forward to watching the movie this weekend. I read that it reached the 500 million mark worldwide today.

I'm curious to see this since Will Smith is one of my favorite actors. It probably won't be as good as the original, though.
-
I really want to see this movie. The previews look great and I agree that Will Smith had big shoes to fill; Robin Williams was amazing in the original- so much adult humor!
-
It would be hard to top Robin Williams in any role! He was a good actor. I like most of the movies that Will Smith has made.

This is the first movie in a while that I have really wanted to see outside of Toy Story 4. I think Will Smith is an excellent actor and hope his comedic gifts will parallel with those of Robin Williams as an original genie. I saw the original Aladdin as a child and liked it so much that I asked my mother to buy it for me. I think it's interesting to have a live action version and am looking forward to seeing all of how they designed the sets and hope they really outdid themselves with the scenery.

I want to go see it soon, I was telling my husband that it is weird to see Aladding without Robin Williams those are very big shoes to fill, but I am sure Will Smith can do it.
-
I cannot wait to see this one. I enjoy Will Smith and the movies he has done so I am sure I will enjoy this one too.

Disney was smart to use Will Smith. It has made people more curious about the movie.

Why? I don't care who voices the characters. It is more about what the movie is about.
I actually participated in a survey about this movie on another site. I don't really care WHO voices the characters.

I would like to see Aladdin. I think it will be interesting to see Will Smith as the Genie.
I heard there is a human friend for Princess Jasmine in addition to Raja the tiger

I've been wanting to see it but haven't gotten around to it. I'm happy that there are tons of positive reviews though - makes me even more inclined to see it when I get the opportunity!
I also like that Will Smith is acting in it. As someone else mentioned, it would definitely bring in a lot of Will Smith fans that are curious about a Disney movie.

I'm definitely going to wait until it comes out on DVD or netflix. Frankly Will Smith is really going to have to win me over. Robin Williams Genie was really an unforgettable role and will be very hard to follow.

There are a few disney movies that came out that I've been want to go see but it seems nobody in my family wishes to see them. Aladdin being one of them. I simply don't understand why you wouldn't want to go see this flick? Maybe it's to close to my childhood and my own kids don't understand the excitement behind.

im waiting for it to come out to see it...hoping its really good...
-
Can't wait to see it! Excited for the new The Lion King too!

Heard good things about this movie. I'll just watch it whenever it comes on TV.
-
Forgive me if this sounds rude, but I like the cartoon Aladdin movie better. Remakes just mean doing many of the same things over and not usually outshining anything original.
-
I remember when that came out years ago and I had to watch that all the time with my exgirlfriend. That was like watching paint dry on the wall. I guess they made it into a real type movie since Will Smith is in it. :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey: :turkey:

I haven't watched the movie yet. However, based on the preview and customer reviews, I am looking forward to it. There was a video not too long ago of Will Smith remaining in his Genie character for some small children. It was absolutely adorable.
-
I like the fact that will smith is in it but the other actors are a nopes for me.
-
Thanks for the input. It will be interesting to see all the feedback on these remakes.

It's not about voicing the character. It's about seeing the actual character on-screen in a live action feature. Having Will Smith in it gives the movie its marquee name even if the movie is already beloved in a previous version. There will be many who will not want to see this because the animated version was perfect.
Now that Disney seems to be giving all these animated films the live-action treatment. it's a bit of a tougher sell. I, for one, have not been interested in these live-action remakes at all. But hearing Will Smith's name was enough to pique my curiosity. I may nor may not see it but it's enough to put it on my radar for consideration.

I've only seen the cartoon version when my son was little, he's 28 now.

I want to see Aladdin. I will have to wait til it comes out on Netflix or something as it has already been to the theaters near me.

I have been wanting to see this so bad!

to much singing, kind of de-escalates my manhood

I like Will Smith and he is about the only one who could follow Robin Williams

I agree. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it. I didn't think I would. I took my granddaughter to it.

For Alladin not being animated this time it was a pretty good movie

Thanks! Now I want to watch it too!
