Mine is mainly for just reheating things. My kitchen is so small that the microwave sits in a very inconvenient spot for easy cleaning. I have been wanting to just throw it out. I was reminded with a simple question "How would my housemate eat?" As he eats frozen meals. Yuck. I have heard of people just throwing theirs out to encourage better eating habits. That would not be a reason for me to toss mine out. I just hate cleaning it. I am trying to simplify my household chores. Has anyone just up and got rid of their microwave for any reason? Do you still use one?

I haven't had a microwave for about 8 years. I moved into a new place, got rid of the old microwave that I had and never replaced it. I just warm my leftover on the stove or in the oven.

I still use my microwave for leftovers and frozen meals, vegetables, etc.

I use the microwave when I need something fast. Otherwise the stove is still my preferred method.

I clean my microwave when it looks unclean but at the top of it, (the splashes etc.) I don't bother with. Never thought about throwing out my microwave. I have thought about purchasing another one though. Time to upgrade.

It definitly comes in handy sometimes and its quick but youre right about what its mainly for so if youd rather have quality over convience youre on the right track.

i use my microwave more than my oven. i cook veggies and reheat food. :rainbow: :peace:

I use my microwave every day, mostly for warming up leftovers.
-
I still use mine. I've been using one for like 25 years. When my late hubby was here, he liked his food warmed up on the stove. I recently replaced the one I had for 24.5 years; it stopped heating properly.

I use my microwave for heating my leftovers, frozen meals, etc. I do not use it everyday but every other day.

Although not in as much demand as cell phones, I am not so sure my family could live without the microwave. I use it at four in the morning when I make my coffee. My wife uses it to thaw frozen fruit for her morning smoothie. My daughter heats the water for her oatmeal. My son uses it to make a half pound of bacon to go with his eggs in the morning. And this much action just covers breakfast! Lunch is leftover heating time for all of us-using the microwave. Dinner, twice a week, will be leftovers. My son heats up pre-made wings and pizza rolls after a hard days work, My daughter will thaw out ice cream that is too hard. We are on our second microwave oven in the last twenty years and spared no expense when purchasing the last one.

my daughter doesn't use a microwave have to ask her why. I like to put frozen meals when in don't want to cook or dirty things up. I think maybe its not good to stand in front ofthem.

Microwave is very handy kitchen appliance.
-
I keep a microwave since it's so much easier to cook with than having to do it by stove, oven, or any other way that I currently can't think of right now.
-
I could never do without my microwave, I use it many times a day heating up food, reheating coffee etc
-
I use the microwave for rewarming more than anything, but in a pinch I will cook frozen vegetables or meals in one. On top of that, I have to use one at work because the break room does not have any other way of heating up food.

i use my microwave every day to heat up lunch at work. i also use it for popcorn

I use my microwave a the time. It doesn't heat up the kitchen as much as cooking on the stove does.

I think the microwave's cheaper in energy use next to cooking on the stove. I have, single range for a stove, a mini toaster oven, & good old microwave. I do hate cleaning out the microwave but if you clean it out as the mess happens, it's like not having a cleaning at all.

I use my microwave much like Tresbn does. I have never thought of getting rid of it or being without one. It is another convenience that I like and want when I need it. What I don't have is a dishwasher and I would like one of those too. I guess I just like modern conveniences!

I need my microwave.

I definitely need my microwave. I use it mostly for heating up food and making popcorn but I also disinfect my sponges and cutting boards in there and I also steam my vegetables using the microwave.

Yep we have always had one in fact my mom brought one from a "traveling" salesman W-A-Y back when I was a teenager and I'm 65 now it was guge and we thought it was the cats meow lol. She kept it and we only got rid of it when she passed away. We thought that was the thing. Have always had one to heat up things.

Never microwave popcorn. I like freshly popped corn. Taste better than all the ingredients they put in microwaved popcorn.
-
I definitely prefer having a microwave.
-
a necessity when you live by yourself and in winter climate

I gotta have my microwave and it can be used more than just cooking things! Gotta have movie night with popcorn too! At my old place was hard to fit one I just used a cart.
