I think it takes more effort to work from home than to go to a job outside the house. Mostly because family and friends don't understand that just because you are at home doesn't mean you are available. I am willing to give it one more effort. Hopefully this will work for me. Do any of you work from home or have wanted to?

I work from home. But I know what you mean:
Some people just do not understand: "Business is business!"
Not play or entertainment.

There is a difference in working from home on a real job and saying I work from home and doing surveys.
I would love to work from home. Most people would. Especially as crazy as this world is getting.
You are not going to earn a full time income doing PTC sites. And a lot of the people who say they "work from home" and are doing surveys are also drawing a check off the government and THAT is their income. THAT is what pays the bills. And the survey money is just extra spending money.

I work from home occasionally for my real job and find it much more productive than when I am in the office. I ignore the phone and if my co-workers need me or I need them we instant message each other. Once a while I do have remind my family that I am actually working and getting paid.

I worked from home for almost 25 years. My girlfriend did too, but she was more flexible than I was since she was really on her own. I, on the other hand, had clients and had a full schedule, but she would call and want to be on the phone for hours. We had a falling out one day over how she spoke about my kids and how she spoke about her kids (hers could do no wrong but mine, well...). anyway, peace. Then after my mom died, my two aunts thought they had to call me all the time to make sure I was okay. That would be an hour call, but they respected my job so when I told them I'd call back when done working, they were okay with it. I worked 2:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

I know people that work from home and they struggle all the time trying to complete their work because they get distracted by family and friends. I wouldn't want to work from home.

Years ago my wife and I did work for a company in the evening. We worked putting invoices together with envelopes for a worldwide company. They took out social security but I had to file a 1099 because it was like being self employed. I also had a full time job during the day.

I totally understand what you’re saying sometimes you just have to not answer the phone and not open the door When someone knocks. I wish you great success at working at home and I hope it works out this time for you
-
I kind of wish I could work from home other than FC. I get tired of dealing with people and cleaning up after them in clothing retail.

Hello! :D :)
For the most part I work from home nonetheless I do have some side hussels where I do some work outside to help futher with my bills. I don't think it is ever good to put all your eggs in one basket which is why I do many different jobs. For the most part working from home is literally living the dream. I think working from home is like anything else in the world it is what you make of it. So if you want you can work from home like you are working in an office away from home. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

I work at home and I live alone so it's a little bit easier for me to avoid distractions. I'm also honest enough with people to let them know that I'll do what I can for them on my terms and my schedule.
When I was younger and I had children to take care of it was a completely different story.

When I used to work, it was mostly outside the home. However, on occasion, my employer let me take a day here and there and work from home. It was always very welcome, especially in the winter, but I found I had to be very disciplined to work the amount of time I was supposed to work. What I usually did was put in about four hours, take a break, go back at it for 2 hours, take another break, and then finish my last two hours. I will admit that sometimes I called it a day after about seven hours! Part of my job was very intensive, writing lengthy detailed reports for other agencies, sometimes federal ones, and I had to give up from the mental fatigue. You can only think and write so long!!
-
I Used to work from home in my previous job (here and there) but don't anymore. I found it distracting b/c my dogs would bark or do something and distract me.
-
I have never worked from home except from running a home daycare. I enjoy being home so I don't think it would be a problem with family calling or coming over. People trying to sale things would be the issue because they ignore the no trespassing sign.
-
I work from home. It has its drawbacks like how it's hard to keep yourself on a schedule and not get distracted, but overall it's fantastic in suiting my health issues, personality and preferences.

I work from home a couple days a week, at the office the other days. I don't have any distractions though. I like working at home, because it's more comfortable. But I do go a little stir crazy if I stay home too many days in a row. And then I drive to the office and remember how much I hate the commute. There are pros and cons to both.

Working from home means working harder an being focused on the job. Going to a job means working smarter and taking breaks and lunch.d
-
I would like to work from someday, if I can find a good job that I can work from home.
-
When trying to make money online, do your due diligence and research on companies.

After doing surveys from home for the last 9 years, I think working a regular job is the way to go. I like working when I want too but the pay is terrible and if things where different for me, I would just get a regular job.

The thing is "surveys" is NOT a job! There is NO way to earn the same amount of money doing surveys that you would working a real job. You cannot even make $7.25 (the federal min wage) doing surveys.

I agree with this statement. I work from the office most of the time, and I am productive, but when I have to work from home for whatever reason, I feel that I have to work harder to proof that I am actually working! At the end of the day I feel more tire been at home and working than if I come to the office.

I work from home part-time, but my dream is to work from home full time. I don't think working from home is for everyone because you have to be good at managing your time. Working outside of the home is a little more challenging for me because you have to be on a strict schedule. I like the flexibility of being able to take a day off and not have to wait for approval from someone else. I like managing myself and not being managed by others.

But most real work from home jobs like the call center customer service you are on a set schedule. I interviewed for one of these positions. I was going to have a set schedule with clock in and out times. Specific break times and I was told I would be working most evenings and all holidays as the company offers 24/7 customer support.
I guess I need to start telling people my PTC sites are working from home. lol

I currently say that I work from home because all of my money comes from "get paid to" sites. If an opportunity erupts that will benefit my career (CJ major and Psych minor), I will work a "real" job for the experience during summer months. But while I can make enough to get buy as well as some "extra", I love to work in the comfort of my own home.
It is a struggle because people don't understand that I'm not "playing" on my computer, I'm working. I'd love to buy a house with a designated office area.

Family and friends have to be made to understand the workplace, in this case the home, is to be just that. During business hours, work is to be done without needless interruptions. Keep the lines of communication open on this subject.
My husband and I own our business. We do the majority of our work at our home office. Even though there are no kids around, there are other things that could be potential interruptions. We are able to easily keep everything under control. We consistently have a productive home work environment.

I have worked in offices and from home, I find that I had more distractions at work than at home. I use to go in very early to get everything done before all the distractions started. I   working from home.

I am curious as to how you make enough on sites like this to even get by without income from somewhere else.
I do agree that if I can make enough to "get by" doing stuff like this from home and not having to go out in this crazy insane world I am all for it. I guess it is all well and good but if you ever want to get a loan (like buying a house) as you said you need real steady income. Nobody will give you a loan for a house when your only income is doing surveys on the internet.
But more and more I am seeing "survey taker" as being a job. I guess if you want to put that on a resume and say I made 30 cents an hour ... haha
I see people thumping their referral links all over the internet with claims of making thousands of dollars a month or hundreds a day. Or saying surveys pay $50 or more. All this is bogus. There are some things like that but they are VERY FEW AND FAR between. I did do a survey once that paid $100 for one hour. But you do not see that often at all. Anyway, I guess the lies gets them referrals. lol If I have the opportunity I call them out on the lies.

I'm employed by a company but I get to work from home. There are perks to it such as no commuting at all. However, because I am home, people forget that I am doing a job that I was hired to do. I am still on the clock despite my location of work.
-
I work from home. I am a hard worker and am very self motivated. Working from home requires commitment and diligence.
-
I don't think I would be able to focus and actually get work done from home, but I'd love to try it.
-
Have wanted to but most people say it's a scam, so i left it alone.
-
I have never worked from home but I have often wanted to. Especially when my kids were young. My son-in-law works from home and he is very honest about working the hours he is supposed to. He has no distractions though because my daughter works outside the home and they have no children.

Depends on what you do. There are a lot of jobs that people work from home. That are actually real jobs not taking surveys. But a real 8 hour paid by the hour job. I interviewed for one but apparently there were others more qualified. People who had previous experience.
-
I thought about working from home several times. Unfortunately, I just haven't found the opportunity. :(

I have never worked form home and I agree any job has its pros and cons

Here is a site that you can work from home!

I just earn money from any site for such a hobby. I find it rather neat to have an office in a home.

I was in a house recently that had what I assume at one time was a home office but now is being used for a bed room. It has a fire place in it and one wall is floor to ceiling book shelves. That would be awesome. Then the one wall had like a huge picture window so you can let a lot of natural light in. I have a room in my home I basically call a study or use for like an office.

I have worked from home for YEARS! I love it for several reasons:
No work clothing expense
My time is my own
No boss checking on me
If I need time during the day for something else, I can do my work at night.
I can't think of all the reasons - But I certainly prefer it :)

:cat:
Saves on gas, car expense!!

I am curious as to what you do 'from home' that you can do when ever you want. Unless you are just doing stuff like this site and calling that a job. Most of the work from home opportunities that are real jobs that I have looked at you still have a regular schedule.

I do not work from home but my cousin does and his earning decent not big but decent amount.

Again, I am curious as to what he does. I hear people say oh I work from home all the time. Even locally. I was at the vet once and a woman was talking to me in the waiting room and she said she worked from home. I wish I had asked her what do you do. Because judging from the way she looked I assume she was drawing a check and then done things like this and calls that a job. That just irritates me. Just tell the truth. Not saying that is the case with your cousin.
I have a job and I do things online to make a little money. That is how I say it. I have never called the things I do online a job. Apparently there are people who blog and make a million dollars a year (LOL) but unless I saw the books I don't believe that either.
There are also real jobs like in customer service where you are allowed to work from home but you have set specific hours like a job in a building. You don't just work when ever you feel like it. And you make an hourly wage. The one I interviewed for the pay rate was $10 or $12 an hour. I don't remember.

For me, it takes less effort to work from home. But it's only easier because I have few distractions. My sons are both in college, my husband's at work, and I'm all alone here except for my cat. :cat: When I worked outside my home it was kind of a hassle to find work clothes to wear, pack a lunch, stop and get gas, etc. So I'm enjoying working at home very much! :peace:
