This thread could be a little bit controversial so please respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their own point of view.
Fact: Prior to being elected; Donald Trump announced that he wanted to build a wall at the US and Mexico Border to keep illegal immigrants out of the US. He also promised that Mexico would pay for the wall. The Mexican President announced that Mexico would NOT pay for the wall.
Now.....Donald Trump and a percentage of people living in the US want the wall but who's going to pay for it?
Imagine for a minute that people living in the US have an opportunity to vote for said "Wall". Those individuals who vote NO would go on with life, as usual.
Those individuals who vote YES would agree to have a percentage of their hard earned money withdrawn from their checking account each month for a certain period of time to fund that project. If they were unable to contribute financially their YES vote wouldn't count.
How would you vote?
Why do you want the Wall?
Why would you NOT want the wall?
Personally, I would vote NO because I don't think they wall would accomplish the intended goal. I believe it's more important to make improvements in the immigration system.

I dont like where the tax money goes now.Help the poor, homeless and hungry instead of building more weapons and sending soldiers off to play war. Fix roads and bridges too.Healthcare as well.
A wall????LOL!

I agree with you. I'd vote no because I also believe that it wouldn't achieve the intended "goal". I also look at the Berlin Wall and see all of the things that went wrong, and couldn't imagine it also happening here.

Wall. Yes. See how many are crossing over every day from Africa and the Middle East and South America. Not all are good eggs and we can't afford to take care of all of them.
Don't care if it's not politically correct to say it. Something needs to be done before it's too late. Our porous border may end up killing this country altogether.
-
NO. it will not do what it is intended for. Big waste of money
-
I vote NO! There is too much money wasted by our government now.
-
No! The wall will not stop people from crossing the borders just cost us more tax money.
-
Building a wall right now with tax payer money is a waste.
-
I vote YES, with an amendment to make all the NO voters pay for it, since they are most of the problem The more liberal socialist attitudes they have, the more we suffer the burden of supporting people who should not even be here and that over the years have cost us way more than any wall would.
-
I vote yes. The wall may not stop illegal immigration entirely, but I believe it would make it much harder to cross the border.

I totally agree with you. They are costing us billions of dollars a year in medical, education, and housing. We need to find out who gave the Central Americans hope that we'd take them all in. That lie is bringing them to our country and it's sad how some of them gave up everything to come here only to be disappointed. There are laws in this country and laws that every person in this country has to follow. I believe this is also a cover for those who want to harm us. They have caught some of them at the border trying to come in illegally where there is no wall or a broken wall that needs repairs.
At least the wall would stop most of them from coming. They need to come the legal way and through the ports of entry. Most Hispanics who did it the right way also want the wall. They come for jobs and economics, yet lie that they want asylum. That lie, when found out, keeps them from ever coming here legally.
BTW, we DO need immigration reform changes. Congress has been dragging their feet on the issue for 30 years. They need changes to the asylum law, too. Congress better get off their duff and start working for their pay on the important issues instead of carrying on like children like they are doing.

If you ordered a hamburger and got charged for a cheeseburger im sure you wouldnt like it.My point is i could care less about a wall,so why should i pay for it?As i said above the tax money gets wasted as it is.You can use it better and it doesnt happen.Kinda insulting to now have to pay for something many dont want. You guys want it?You pay for it!!!

Why dont we just sell the SOL and use the money for the wall? Most dont give a *am what is inscribed on it.

The wall is very complicated. I wish there is an easy solution for the wall agenda.
-
If he wants the damn wall so bad, let him pay for it out of his own pocket, he has the money
-
I know that it was an honest question and effort, but I can't accept the OP's proposed terms of YES vs NO votes.
There are many many many many things that my tax dollars pay for because somebody else voted for them even though I voted against them. Majority vote wins and everyone pays regardless of whether you voted in favor or against.
Given that scenario, I vote yes build the wall.

I agree with helping poor, hungry, and homeless; but your remark is really a bit of a slap to the face of the soldiers who help to protect your life and freedom. They are not "playing war" as you put it.

The Berlin Wall and the proposed US border wall are two completely different and unrelated things. Other than the fact that they both were walls, the similarities end there.
-
I say yes to the wall. Too many are coming here and jeopardizing our country. We will end up overcrowded and bankrupt.

That is more aimed at the government then the soldiers.Sorry if i support Jesus what he told Peter when he drew his sword.Freedom? This country has the worst healthcare system in the world as 1 example.Freedom from what?
I will take this a step furthur. In 1970/71 i passed my army physical.Vietnam was going strong then.If it wasnt for Nixons birthday lottery i may have gotten drafted.MY BD fell around 160.I never got drafted.I am not sure what i would have done then. But i can tell you now if i knew then what i know now i would NOT have gone to Vietnam and went to jail.
I dont support what Bin Laden did either.First off Gods name ISNT allah. He didnt support Jesus words either as many other religeons dont either.

I always thought the wall a stupid idea. When considering all the illegals not all come walking. Since I am of a suspicious nature when it comes to government funded ideas like this. I think that wall would actually serve 2 purposes one to keep people out and the other to keep people in. Not my idea of freedom.
-
one thing I do have to say about the funding is that I do not think that president trump should take any of the credit for it.
-
It would be interesting to know how many of the commenters on this question have ever even been to the Mexican border and seen how many people are trying to get into the USA. Or even worse, been to any agricultural community on the west coast and seen how many illegals are lined up to get public assistance, even as far away as the Pacific Northwest?

Do you realize when that statue's quote was made? Dp you do know what Castle Garden and Ellis Island in NY was? NO ONE came here free and easy. NO ONE sneaked into the country. They arrived at those 2 NY places (and every port in the country, but Ellis and Castle Garden were the heaviest traffic). All immigrants went through rigorous medical and mental vetting before being let into the country. If they had a fever, they were sent back or confined separately from others.
The quote on the statue is still honored. This is what people don't understand. No one is against LEGAL immigration. It just doesn't apply to those who cheat and lie to come here illegally.
