Title: Bath time
Post by: 1imaginarygirl on August 22, 2019, 07:34:52 pm
I have a nice big soaking tub in my apartment, but I've never taken a bath in it. The last house I owned had a big tub with jets, and in the 7 years I lived there, I used the tub maybe about 4 or 5 times. I see people on TV relaxing in a bubbly tub with candles and wine. It's supposed to be so relaxing, but apparently I don't know how to do it right. I have bouts of insomnia once in a while, and I always think I should take a hot bath. But I don't, cuz I get bored and the water gets cold too fast. I also feel kind of gross afterwards. I saw an article today that said the average bathtub contains 100 times more bacteria than the average trash can. Eww.

Do you enjoy taking baths? I want to enjoy it, but I just can't. What am I doing wrong? LoL!

I do not believe the average bathtub contains that much bacteria.  Maybe if you never clean it?  I don't know.

Everyone is different and some people like baths and some people do not.

That's an utterly disgusting thought.  Ya know those mat's people lay down to prevent slipping.  I bet there is a ton of germs and slime built up under those things.  I am one to really enjoy a bath. Oh and a heated tub with jet's is oh so comforting.  I don't light candles or have wine.  But I when I had a big tub like that I used it often.  Now I hardly ever take baths.  Just to busy.

Sure, I enjoy a nice bath now and then to relax. As for the bacteria in the tub, I think you're good if you don't drink your bath water. I'm just sayin'.  Alternatively, you could super clean it before you get in it if you're a little germophobic. The previous word is spelled both with an "o" and with an "a". Couldn't decide which one was preferable.

And either add more hot water when it gets cold or get out of the tub. Eezy peezy.

Have enough wine and you won't care about anything else

No, I never liked the thought of sitting in dirty water which is what it is after you sit down in it.

We had our master bathroom completely gutted and redone.  I wanted a better tub which I love!  I take showers every mirning, but try to make a jetted bath once a week.  I find it totally relaxing

Yes, just clean it and with a bathtub like yours, I would take a bath to relax at least once a week with lots of bubble and a glass of wine.

I would so relax in that tub.  My tub is small but I still soak in it time to time.  Some times with a glass of wine.  Don't do the candles only because I don't have any.

I don't understand how a bath supposed to be relaxing. If I actually relaxed, I would slide under the water. Maybe you need a fancy tub?

That's what I'm saying. I don't know how to relax in a bath, I guess. What do you do? Just sit there and stare at the wall? I don't see what's relaxing about that. And if I have to clean it before and after, I'm no longer relaxed, so what's the point? LoL!

I love baths but It takes a lot of time that I really don't have available.  I keep myself very busy.

I  don't like baths either.  I don't like just sitting in a tub of hot water.  Boring.

Showers for me.....

Showers are better as long as you don't run out of hot water  8)

I've never enjoyed taking baths and only take showers. I've always had the problem of hot water on my stomach making me nauseous. I'm glad that you enjoy baths, though. It does look kind of nice when I see a bubble bath with candles all around the tub on TV, but I'm pretty sure most people don't go to all that effort in order to take a luxurious bath!  :)

I would  much rather  take a great shower. And then when I get out I feel clean from top to  bottom. I wash my hair first then the rest is so relaxing for  me. I don't like sitting in a bathtub soaking I feel I there are better things to be done. And I just don't feel like I got as clean. Besides  I remember when  we had to take  our baths in a  big wash tub. first my little sister, then me and then my brother who was always the direst.  I hated it and was so thankful when we  moved to town and had  running water and a shower.  Oh  this was back in the 40's and early 50's . We lived on a ranch  many miles from town and  only had a windmill for water.

Yeah but we aren't talking about sharing bath water.  Which I think it utterly disgusting.  Surely people did not really do that! lol  Well never mind a few years ago I heard about (and yes it is true) a family where the dad took a bath first, then the mom, then the oldest child, then the two younger ones together.

Taking a nice hot bubble bath with clean water can be relaxing.  If you feel you are dirty (which I don't know how you could) you can always stand up and turn the shower on for a few.  I use to have a friend who done that. lol
And she was not "dirty" when she got in the bath to start with. lol

No, I don't enjoy taking baths, & I too have a large soaking tub in my master bedroom that nobody uses... wasted.

I just shower, baths take up too much time & I rather use the water allotment on my grass.

I have a soaking tub in my bathroom at my house and have used it in the past several times, but the last time I got in I fell when I got out and haven't used it since.  I had bad knees and when I tried to get up I lost my balance.

Maybe you need to get a new bath, that will keep the water warm for a longer time....

I do not like tub baths and yes we had to share bath water when I was growing up in the 40's but now I really enjoy my early morning shower
