In my household there are two cats who came out of the same litter they are therefore sisters. They have always been indoor cats and are approximately/at least 18 years old. It was not my desire to get the cats I did it for my two sons who were obviously much much younger when I agreed to them after much begging and pleading and promises on their part. never had cats growing up and let it suffice to say I would never have cats again. One son no longer lives at home and I wish I had sent one cat with him but we didn't want to split them up. Now the other son's life has to be threatened to do the cat box and I am stuck doing all else. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - are you a cat person? Please lol forgive me for not being one.

I feel your pain. I really didn't want to get another cat when our previous one died. My wife really wanted one since she always grew up with a cat. Needless to say, we did get another cat and I'm the one ended up taking care of its maintenance more than anyone else. Go figure.

I like both and we have both. The last cat we had died several months ago. She lived upstairs because she was afraid of the dog. I wanted a cat that would stand up to the dogs and be a "whole house" cat. I got one from a friend that lives down the street and has lots of cats always having kittens. I, sometimes, regret that decision. This cat is a "whole house" cat, plays with the dog. The older Chihuahua just doesn't want anything to do with him and lets him know it. We got him as a kitten and he's always getting into trouble. I have to hide my yogurt in the oven and microwave when I'm draining it or he'll eat it. He knocks things down off of tables and shelves. He is quite troublesome sometimes. He is a pretty cat, though and he loves to sleep with my granddaughter.

I am and cleaning up after them does not bother me. Some people aren't and that is fine.

Yes, I'm a cat person, but I'm also a dog person. When I first got my cat (three years old), I was told that I would have plenty of help with help with the cat, with the feeding, with the litter box, etc. But, of course, now I mostly do all that every day. I don't mind, though, because, like I said, I am a cat person. I'd probably be a little bitter if it was like a hamster, rabbit, or other rodent, as I am NOT a rodent person, LOL! My kids would also love to have a dog, but I do not want to have to walk the dog, be responsible for a dog at this stage in my life (although I love them). And though I might hear promises regarding walking the dog, feeding the dog, I know I would end up doing so. So no dog. :( :peace:

I'm a cat and dog person. All animals want is a safe place to live, water and food, and clean place to pee/poop. Whether it's a cat (litter box), or dog (yard) yes you have to clean up after them.

Oh gosh, I love my two cats! They rob me of sleep sometimes, always beg me for table scraps, use my lap like a piece of furniture but there's no way I could do without them. I admit though, it's a drag taking care of their every need but it wouldn't be so bad if I had a little help (which I've asked for and never get). Cheers to you fellow cat parents and dog parents too, we share a special bond with our fur babies that will last forever and far beyond that as well!

I love my cat.... I love all cats, I'm definitely a cat person. I clean up after the cat & feed it, except for "snacks" which the whole house feeds him. I don't mind a bit cleaning up after him, or cutting his nails -- thankfully he doesn't do damage, & I have cardboard scratchers all over the house for him to scratch. He's a ragdoll & he does shed in clumps, so vacuuming & cleaning off the furniture is a constant. Fortunately, my entire household shares in those cleaning duties or else that would become a drag i'd imagine. I'm thinking about getting another one :)

We had cats when the kids were at home. The cats moved away when the kids moved away. The kids are 29 and 31 now. One of the cats is still alive.

OOOOHHHHHHHHH So sorry but we have a cat and love her. :in-love: But you do have to clean the litter! However, you don't have to take them out for a walk with plastic bags to pick up there letter :D

I really enjoyed reading everyone's answers - lol pretty much all cat lovers. I love these cats but I am physically unable to clean the litter and now one of them is throwing up all over the house which I can't get down low enough to clean up(My cleaning lady is probably going to freak tomorrow or quit lol) my sons were supposed to care for the cats so that is the part that ticks me off. Oh well live on.

I have 1 cats, bur I do understand your feelings. not everybody likes certain animals. I just happen to like all animals.

my friend had a cat that would never go in its litter box which is why i dont own a cat.

Sorry I am a cat person :) But cats definitely take alot more work then dogs. Constantly having to clean the catbox is a must, and never an enjoyable task.
Thank you for "putting up with them" as many wouldnt, and take the easy way out, and take them to a shelter, being they are old lady cats, its good to know they will have a home with you until the end :)

I am not a house cat or dog person, when they go outside they bring in a lot of pollen in the summer and I would always be cleaning up after them. Here a couple of weeks ago as the renters moved out I went over to check on the house before giving them back their deposit. well needless too say they did not get their deposit because the dogs had peed in the house a few times. After puking up I went to cleaning with a big rental cleaner and spent 5 hours cleaning. Smells great now. It is my daughter-in-laws house, But they live 700 miles away so I am the property manager. It is up for sale and by golly I intend it to be clean. Getting back to owning cats and dogs. When I was in the country I had both but outside .
But living in town they have no place to run and so I do not have them. I would never have one that had to be chained.
